Appearance After Laundering and Wrinkle Recovery

● Our fabric does not have a durable press finish

● Using the Smoothness Appearance Rating standard photographs, our fabric received and overall mean rating of 2: a rumpled/wrinkled appearance

● Minimum requirement for our end use is a rating of 3.5 with a durable press end use

Wrinkle Recovery

● Since the fabric is 100% cotton, it did not have good wrinkle recovery

● Creases very easily ● Did not pass the test, and does not have

enough wrinkle resistance for our chosen end use.

Grab Strength + Elongation

● Our fabric passed the grab strength test○ mean warp breaking force: 63.634 lbs ○ mean filling breaking force: 49.047 lbs○ filling had more stretch and strength○ Data was consistent

● Test revealed fabric is strong enough for end use

Absorbency/Water Repellency

● Our fabric had no water repellency

● Because our fabric is 100% cotton, it did prove to have a high absorbency

● There was no absorbency requirement for our end use

● Not good for everyday shorts!

Colorfastness to: Crocking • The fabric met the requirements for crocking

• There was little to no bleeding of color

• This will benefit our end use, as our end use garment comes into contact with many surfaces during wear.

Colorfastness to: UV Light, Weathering, and Laundering

● Using AATCC Gray Scale for Color change○ UV Light: rating of 5 Requirement: 4○ Weathering: rating of 4 Requirement: 4○ Laundering: rating of 4 Requirement: 4

Staining and Soil Release

● According to the ratings for the AATCC Gray Scale for staining, our fabric had a mean rating of 4.5 with and without the stain remover.

● This surpassed the standard requirement of a rating of 3.● Ink and lipstick were the two worst stains

SUMMARY

Our fabric is suitable for our end use, and it passed most of the ASTM standard test requirements.

Although it did not perform well in wrinkle resistance, it can be ironed.
