Dear Friends,

It is indeed a great privilege for me to express my sincere gratitude to all the participants who made the Second National Health Writers’ and Communicators’ Workshop a

grand success. In fact, it was the biggest gathering of health writers and communicators from across India and across languages. This speaks volumes of the progress that Health Essayists & Authors League (HEAL) has made since its inception in 2005.

HEAL has so far held 22 workshops across India for health writers and communicators on a wide range of topics. It has worked for numerous public welfare campaigns like appropriate dosing of paracetamol in children, awareness campaign on trans-fatty acids, awareness of malnutrition in children and awareness campaigns on targeted cancer therapy, etc.

The idea behind the entire exercise was to create a platform for health writers from across the nation to seek, exchange and research topics on health.

The idea of HEAL as a platform was to link verticals like hospitals, pharma companies, research bodies in both the public and private sectors with health writers and communicators. Quite successfully we have achieved this milestone but many more milestones remain to be crossed.

In concluding my vote of thanks I look forward to welcoming you again at the next international workshop in April 2010.

Cheers,

R. ShankarPresident, [email protected] [email protected]

Vote of ThanksDear Patrons & Colleagues,

I must mention our deep sense of appreciation and gratitude to the speakers and participants who helped us to make 2nd National Health Writers’ & Communicators’

Convention a great event, a memorable milestone n the road to awareness amongst Indians.

Looking back at HEAL, it took me about 5 years to convince Editors & Writers associated with the health & wellness segment of their publications to come together on one platform with an objective to get Health Writing & Communication organized and recognized at the national and international level. Thus, in 2005 HEAL (Health Essayists & Authors League) was born which started with the First Health Writers’ Workshop at Goa. Recently this largest body of Health Writers and Communicators completed its 4 years of existence by organizing the 21st Health Writers’ Workshop in Goa, completing a full circle.

HEAL works with like-minded, socially inclined Health Writers/ Communicators, Doctors, Policy Makers & other KOLs, with an objective of upgradeing the Health Writing/ Communicating standards to improve health awareness levels and influence health policies in the right direction, so that everybody leads a healthy & happy life and helps build a prosperous nation.Your overwhelming presence/participation at the workshop marked the grand success of our endeavour and also encourages us to continue our noble pursuit.

Sincerely yours,

Swadeep SrivastavaPrincipal Consultant, HEALConsulting Editor & CEO, Heal [email protected] [email protected]
