The use of embedded UICCs instead of traditional SIM cards leads to many changes for everyone involved in handling, operation, and testing the components. It is no longer possible to change the net- work provider by switching the SIM card. Device and soldered eUICC are inseparable! Instead, with remote SIM provisioning (RSP) technology, it is possible to retroactively change the network operator of devices that are already in the field.

Compliance Testi ng with Connecti vity Test Center

It would be extremely reckless to roll out an eUICC, a mobile device with already soldered eUICC, or a subscripti on manager without previously test-ing compati bility with applicable standards. COMPRION test benches for Connecti vity Test Center do not only cover all relevant test specifi cati ons defi ned by ETSI, 3GPP, and 3GPP2 that apply to both UICCs and eUICCs, they also encompass the eUICC, device, and subscripti on manager tests defi ned by GSMA and SIMalliance.

Connecti vity Test Center, in combinati on with the RSP device tests, forms a validated platf orm at the Global Certi fi cati on Forum (GCF). That means that these tests are certi fi cati on-relevant for devices supporti ng RSP func-ti onality. The eUICC test cases are qualifi ed by GlobalPlatf orm and can be used for self-certi fi cati on of eUICCs. For many years now, COMPRION has been providing reliable validated test soluti ons for such tests, thus enabling manufacturers to roll out certi fi ed products to the market.

With Connecti vity Test Center, COMPRION off ers a convenient executi on of compliance tests as well as comprehensive display of results.

COMPRION Network Bridge

With COMPRION Network Bridge, remote SIM provisioning scena-rios can be processed in a lab environment independent of a real network, network simulator, or device. It allows end-to-end testi ng with just the eUICC and the subscripti on manager by “bridging” the complete over-the-air communicati on (cellular network) and providing appropriate simulati ons.

Here, the necessary device functi onality (mobile equipment, Local Profi le Assistant) and the relevant network communicati on units (SMSC server, packet gateway) are simulated. The graphical user interface provides informati on about the current status of the simulated device and shows additi onally the logged data exchanged between subscripti on manager, device, and eUICC in a clear format.

COMPRION Network Bridge is a cost saving soluti on as subscripti on manager and eUICC can communicate directly without requiring anyother hardware.

With eUICC Profi le Manager supporti ng M2M as well as consumer device eUICCs, you can load profi les to eUICCs, enable and disable profi les, and delete profi les. A easy user interface hides the complex RSP architecture that is required for executi on of the corresponding procedures. In additi on, eUICC Profi le Manager scans the contents of an enabled profi le, visualizes the fi le system, allows editi ng, and visualizes the sent and received com-mands in a sequence diagram or protocol view.

Never mind if the eUICC is already embedded in a device or not – COMPRION’s eUICC Profi le Manager guarantees access to the eUICC in a number of ways.

Remote SIM Provisioning Platf orm for M2M and Consumer Device Architecture

RSP M2M Platf orm provides a simulati on for a Subscripti on Manager Data Preparati on (SM-DP) and a Subscripti on Manager Secure Routi ng (SM-SR). Consequently, it supports all relevant administrati on processes like profi le download and installati on, profi le enabling, profi le disabling, and profi le deleti on in the same manner as a real RSP architecture.

RSP Consumer Devices Platf orm provides a Subscripti on Manager Data Preparati on+ (SM-DP+) and a Subscripti on Manager Discovery Server (SM-DS) simulati on. It supports all remote provisioning procedures and functi onaliti es as well as event handling for the discovery service.

RSP M2M Platf orm and RSP Consumer Devices Platf orm enable you to set up a complete remote SIM provisioning infrastructure in a lab environment around the eUICC. The off -card interfaces of both platf orms are accessed using appropriate web services.

The modular structure of the platf orm enables you to integrate real components into the setup to test its interope-rability. Test environment and real operati on environment are becoming comparable thus increasing the practi cal rele-vance of successful test runs, for example, in the areas of eUICC management and profi le management.

Due to the number of involved components in an RSP architecture, communicati on required for provisioning procedures is complex. To prevent the user from losing track, both RSP platf orms off er so-called sequence diagrams that provide a quick overview of the exchanged commands and data between subscripti on mana-ger, device, and eUICC. This visualizati on helps to analyze the communicati on fl ow thus facilitati ng trouble-shooti ng and debugging.
