I decided to start by designing a recipe card that was going to be suitable for my target audience, my client and be suitable for my chosen theme which was summer. Identifying these different things meant that I was had to make sure that my design was suitable and appropriate for these sources to view. I think that the quality of my designs produced are designed in quite a professional and enhancing way. In my deigns I have put the name of the dish at the top of the page I have then used a suitable, good quality image. Throughout my designs I have developed and changed aspects of the recipe cards. For example on idea 1 I changed the font using the font ‘KG girl on fire’ this was was very decorate and creative in my work however I decided to develop this into something more bold and a font that would stand out I decided to use a font called ‘fanzine’ in my 3rd variation I used a different font called ‘SundaySunday’ changing different fonts allowed me to experiment and found out which was the best one.

I think that the strengths of my different variations include the colours, I have used bright colours, that contrast each other this gives the recipe cards quite an effective look. Another success I think I have carried out throughout the process of making my recipe cards is the layout. I have made sure that each layer in the recipe card is spaced out and can be easily read. I have tried to fit my recipe cards into my theme by doing this I have added some images of suns as a border on the recipe cards. This method looks creative and will also stay consistent through my recipe cards. I like the fact that in my recipe cards I have included a ‘top tip’ section I think this will amuse the audience and give them chance to try out new things.

I think that the weakness’s in my recipe card annotations include that there could be more pictures, this could include pictures of people cooking, or pictures of summer to represent my theme. Having only 1 image on my recipe card I think doesn’t look that interesting and I think I could improve the look by adding photographs. Another weakness and something I could improve on when making my recipe cards would be to add nutritional facts I think that the audience would be interested to find out how healthy and what they are consuming. Adding these nutritional facts would give the audience more information about what they are making and I think that they would be more interested in reading the card.

On my second idea of recipe cards I decided that I should use the colours of the recipe and the meal more involved in the recipe card. This will give my recipe card are more consistent and interesting theme as the colours will fit in with the recipe itself. On my cards I decided to experiment with the different fonts, colours and the different layout of where things should be placed on my recipe cards.

I think that the success’s of my designing my recipe cards has been finding imaginative and complex fonts that will interest my audience into reading my recipe cards. I have also used bright colours such as orange and yellow on my cards. These fit in with the idea of the recipe well as it is a lemon cheesecake. I also think that the layout of this recipe card is set out well and appropriately, I have the image of the dessert on the front of the card and next to it I have also decided to put a persuasive, descriptive piece of text describing the dessert and trying to pull people attention to make the recipe. Another success which I have achieved is the border on the bottom of both recipe cards. I have decided to add a border at the bottom of the page which consists of images of sunshine's and flowers. This border represents my theme as summer and my audience will be able to tell straight away that the recipes are aimed for hot weather.

I think I could improve aspects of my idea 2 deigns by adding more colours. I have stuck to the main colours of being green and yellow and even though that they fit well within the theme of summer I think I could add some other colours such as reds, blues, oranges and pinks. This will brighten up my recipe cards and also make them look like a summer theme. Another disadvantage to which I think I could improve is by adding adjectives to the start of my recipe name titles. ‘Lemon Jelly Cheesecake’ sounds quite bland and boring however if I could add words that will impress and leave the audience remembering the names of the dishes this would get more attention. I could also add alliteration to the start of the dish such a ‘Lovely Lemon Jelly Cheesecake’ this makes the recipe sound much more intriguing and makes the dish sound more tastier.
