Test Plan for Local Print Solution

General Testing Instructions

Introduction This test plan is for the Local Print Solution functionality as delivered by ITS. Deliverables were included as part of the Modifications to Banner Baseline General 8.6 release. This test plan is to be used for testing the Local Print Solution

In order to test this release thoroughly, we ask that you not only follow your normal business practices and processes to see if the modification runs correctly, but please try multiple scenarios that you might not encounter often in an effort to identify any anomalies in the process.

Prerequisites Prerequisites for the Local Print Solution are as follows

General 8.6

Using a Test Environment

This release must be placed into a test environment. Do not place or run any of the items contained in this release in a production environment until test results are compiled for all test sites and any necessary corrections are made.

Reporting Results during Beta Testing

The basic steps that you should follow are listed, with a space provided for you to initial when you have completed the step. Describe any errors or unexpected results in the space provided. Add comments and descriptions of unexpected results as needed.

Support for Beta Testing

During the testing process, contact us at [email protected] or by phone at 706-583-2003 (rather than contacting the ITS Helpdesk).

Explain that you are a beta test site. Your call will be forwarded to the appropriate staff member. Make sure you explain that you are testing and not requesting customer support.

Returning Beta Test Results

Testing the Local Print Solution

Local Print Solution Purpose

The Local Print solution allows for an electronic view of common data output formats to be available via the Saved Output Review form (GJIREVO). Both .lis and .log as well as a .pdf form of the .lis file exist to allow ease of access for the output of any process run in Banner using DATABASE as the printer.

Local Print Solution Defect Correction

ITS has modified the Saved Output Review form (GJIREVO) in Banner baseline General for Local Print Solution functionality. ITS modifies the latest baseline version of GJIREVO and associated objects. The following defect corrections were addressed through the 8.6 version of Banner baseline GJIREVO and associated objects:

Delivered with the General 8.6 upgrade for gjirevo.pc:

Defect 1-1AM0N78: GJIREVO cursor focus shift from File Name field to Process field.

Functional Impact The General 8.6 defect correction, above, has no impact on the Local Print solution.

Local Print Solution functionality allows users to run processes to the database and access individual .lis, .log and .pdf files from GJIREVO. The files can be opened in an internet browser and printed as necessary.

Setup for Testing Test the printing functionality using a variety of processes from Georgia Enhancements and Baseline General, Student, Financial Aid, and Accounts Receivable. Be sure to try processes that produce various sized files (single student, term, population selection, etc.) as well as portrait and landscape output.

When testing the process with a network printer, confirm the printer setup on Printer Validation form (GTVPRNT).

Retrieve an output file using the Secure FTP Manager. If you do not have access to the file manager tool, contact your on-site technical person. Request that they set the tool up on your desktop and that they contact ITS Helpdesk (e-mail [email protected] or call 1-888-875-3697) to request your FTP user name and password.

Login to the file manager tool.

Select the jobsub folder to retrieve the files.

Transfer the file to your desktop.

NOTE: You are strongly encouraged to test as many baseline and

Georgia Enhancement processes as possible.

WARNING

Ensure pop-up blockers are turned off; otherwise they will interfere with viewing the output files.

Check your internet viewing options for how the file will be displayed. If you have it set to Save Only, you will not be able to view the file. In some cases, users may need to hold down the control key on the keyboard for the viewing window to appear.

Running the Aging Report (ZGRAGES) does not produce an output file for GJIREVO.

To retrieve the output files, user will need to go to the Secure FTP Manager select the output files for this process. If you do not have access to the file manager tool, contact your on-site technical person.

Steps in Testing Go to the Process Submission Controls Form (GJAPCTL).
