the ‘e-goveRnment national awaRds’ weRe established in 2003 to Recognise and RewaRd the outstanding achievements of those woRking in public sectoR ict. In 2011, the awards were re-named as the UK Public Sector Digital Awards, but the focus remained the same – giving these teams the rec-ognition they deserve, and celebrating the outstanding work they do.

Entering 2012’s award programme will prove even more beneficial, as we team up with analyst group K2 Advisory to bring you exclusive re-search which will help guide you IT planning decisions in 2013 and be-yond.

Suffolk County Council Trading Standards

Suffolk Trading Standards (STS) has made use of the full social media arsenal in the battle against rogue trading in support of consumer protection and empowerment, combining blogs, a Facebook page, Twitter feeds and GovDelivery email updates to recruit and arm a diverse range of Suffolk consumers with the weapons of consumer self-protection. Since mobilising its social media campaign in June 2010, STS has received 8,100 views of its blog, 8,800 views of its Facebook page, seen 2,200 people sign up to email updates and developed a 725 strong Twitter following. Specific campaigns have included an intensive three-day Twitter campaign, entitled ‘A day in the life of a trading standards officer’, where every activity undertaken by STS was tweeted and led to the creation.
