Dear Terrace LakeWhen Kim and I rst began this journey, we believedin aith that God would raise up a church that wouldbe intentional in its love or God and or people. I amso thankul or you and or the privilege o being thepastor o Terrace Lake or the last nearly 13 years. Inthat time, we have seen God work in powerul ways.

We have experienced people putting their aith inChrist. We have seen people proclaim their beliein Jesus through baptism. We have wept togetherin death. We have prayed or healing. We havecelebrated new lie. And we have helped peoplebecome passionate disciples o Jesus Christ. God hasblessed us at Terrace Lake, and He is not done. He ismoving here, and He is calling us to ollow him!

God has directed us to live intentionally in Christand make disciples who make disciples. He has

called us to do all that we can to see people puttheir aith in Jesus and to live wholly or Him. Wehave no desire to see people complacent in theiraith in God. We want to see God change Columbusand the world through the people o Terrace Lake. That is why we are beginning a two-year generosityinitiative called MOVe>.

For the next two years, we are going to doeverything we can to bring lie to the vision that webelieve God has or Terrace Lake. It will not be easy. There will be times when we will need to encourageeach other to keep going. We will have to sacricetime and resources in order to have a transormingimpact on our world. It may be dicult, but I believeit will be worth it.

As we see what Godcan do in us andthrough us, we willbe amazed at ourawesome God.

Youll want to keep thisbooklet handy duringthe next 5 weeks. Joinus every Sunday duringthe MOVe> series (orlisten online i youcant), participate inthe weekly discussionswith a small group, andlive expectantly as Godprepares to work in our hearts in powerul wayIt is time or us to take the challenge to movetogether. I we remain silent, or i we sit back anwait, we will miss an opportunity with God. Godwill save. God will redeem. God will transorm lLets join Him in what He is doing. God has put together to accomplish something that we cando alone. God has put us together to accomplisa great work or His Kingdom. Lets move and lisacricially to see the good news o Jesus Chrisorward to the ends o the earth.

T so m ds ll od s.There are people who are lost, scared and hurting. They are struggling through nancial diculties. Theyhave children who are hurting or possibly rebelling. They are struggling in their marriage, and they areconsidering divorce. Maybe they have heard about Jesus, but they dont know what it means to ollow him.

They grew up in church, but its never made a real diference in how they live because they never learnedhow to have an ever-growing RELATIONSHIP with God, how to be a true disciple. The most dicult part isthat they dont want anyone to know. They dont know what it is like to walk through this lie with peoplewho care. They are alone, lost, conused and need hope. They have never experienced the love o Jesus, andthey have no idea what theyre missing which is EVERYTHING. God has given Terrace Lake the missiono living intentionally in Christ to make disciples who make disciples... Helping people become passionateollowers o Jesus Christ.

One FunDMOVe> is a Generosity Initiative. Capitalcampaigns typically ocus on unding specialprojects, but MOVe> is about something

Some giving campaignsask you to give a second git over and aboveyour usual giving or special initiatives, whilecontinuing to contribute to the GeneralFund. This type o giving is potentiallyconusing to people who either dont have abaseline or their usual giving OR they arentable to celebrate their total giving in one

At Terrace Lake, we believe we are all on ONEMISSION: Living intentionally in Christ tomake disciples who make disciples. Thereorewe are asking our church body to contributeto ONE FUND or the next two years. The oneund will cover our mortgage and operatingexpenses, our Phase I building plans, ourministries, and our giving to local and worldoutreach. The MOVe> initiative is intended toraise the overall level o generosity at TerraceLake, and our hope is that, once we have alldiscovered the joy o giving, ministry canexpand out into the uture.

Share the craziest risk you ever took (could beanything). What made you take the risk? Would youever do it again? Why or Why not?

Paul ounded the church o Galatia during his rstmissionary journey (Acts 13-14). Ater leaving, some Jewish Christians arrived who accused Paul oomitting key parts o the gospel. They were teachingthe Christians in Galatia that they needed to submitthemselves to Jewish laws and customs in order tobe truly Christian. Although Paul was willing to beaccommodating to Jewish customs, he vehementlyopposed this as a requirement. The letter to theGalatians is a declaration that salvation is a ree gitand can in no way be earned. Paul is exhorting the

Galatians to take the risk o trusting Christ alone witheverything in their lives.

Read Galatians 2:20-21How would you describe yoursel when you set asidethe grace o God?

For those who are Christians, what part o you wouldyou say no longer lives? What else needs to die?

What is the scariest part o I no longer live to you?How has the Son o Gods love and sacrice or youimpacted your lie o aith?

Understanding the context o John 15, how would

you have responded to Jesus claim that he wanted our joy to be made ull? I you had the opportunity, what questions would you have asked related to hiswords?

What olly to ear to be too entirely Gods! It is to ear tobe too happy. It is to ear to love Gods will in all things. Itis to ear to have too much courage in the crosses which

are inevitable, too much comort in Gods love, and toomuch detachment rom the passions which make usmiserable.Francois Fenelon

Fenelon notes that we have a ear o being toocommitted to God. It eels like too much o a risk, toomuch potential change to our lives. Ultimately hesuggests we do not surrender these things because weare araid to be too happy. Though it sounds strange, this ear is a reality or many. Add the ollowingquestion to the 3X5 card next to your bed or on yourbathroom mirror: Why am I araid to be happy?

    Date: April 21, 2013

    Text: Matt. 13:45-46 (Matt. 22:37-39)

    >OVerVIeWLets ace it, the things Jesus teaches us tovalue and invest in just look weird comparedto the worlds investments. The worldsinvestments are tangible, measurable andimmediate. Investments in the kingdom oheaven appear to be very much intangible. How do we reconcile these difering values, and what is the key to making the best

    investment?

Jesus speaks to the question o economics more thanany other single social issue. I, in a comparatively simple
