DEVELELOPMENT MANAGER (INDIVIDUALS) ~ JOB DESCRIPTIONSalary£32,000-37,000 according to experience.

IntroductionThe Development Manager (Individuals) reports directly to the Chief Executive (CE) and works closely with the Development Director (DD) and Development Council (DC).

Primary ObjectivesTo work strategically as part of the development team to generate income from individuals to an agreed annual target (2016/17 target: £217k). To strengthen and build upon existing relationships; and identify and cultivate new ones. Working within Create’s Business and Development Strategies, to develop and implement a robust individual giving programme including: regular gifts, payroll giving, cash appeals, In Memoriam and Tribute funding, legacies and major gifts. To help drive table and ticket sales for fundraising events.

Specific Responsibilities Demonstrating a passion and enthusiasm for Create, its vision and strategy, and working as

an effective part of the team delivering and supporting that strategy. Working with the CE, DD and DC to develop and implement an individual giving programme

that delivers agreed income levels from existing and new donors. Increasing the number of high net worth donors and the unrestricted income generated in

line with annual agreed targets. Assisting with table and ticket sales for Create’s programme of fundraising events. Implementing and evaluating action plans for stewardship, cultivation and research of

Individuals. Strengthening donor relationships by arranging face-to-face meetings for the CE/DC and

subsequent administration/follow-up. Analysing and interpreting campaign results data. Using ACT! (content management system) actively and strategically to manage and maintain

all information gathered on prospective and committed individual donors to maximise income for Create.

Producing appropriate communication materials for individual donors to deadline, including: letters, proposals, presentations, leaflets, invitations, contracts, thank you cards and evaluation reports.

Driving approaches through written correspondence, telephone conversations, meetings and events, ensuring that approaches are personal, tailored and tracked.

As appropriate, attending meetings with funders and prospects, cultivation/networking events and project days.

Liaising with funders and Create personnel to ensure that agreed benefits are delivered to the highest standards in line with Create’s stewardship programme.

Ensuring that all written documentation, both external and internal, is produced within Create’s house-style and meticulously checked before distribution.

Ensuring all funding is received in a timely manner. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of tax laws applicable to individual giving, along with

data protection legislation, to ensure compliance and industry best practice. Supporting the development and communication teams to maximise the effect of integrated

campaigns, funding proposals and stewardship. As required, supporting the CE, DC and Board of Trustees in the development of key

relationships.

DEVELELOPMENT MANAGER (INDIVIDUALS) ~ PERSON SPECIFICATIONQualifications/Training Educated to degree level (essential). Accredited fundraising qualification (desirable).

Job specific skills and experienceEssential A strategic approach to fundraising and experience of developing and implementing an

individual giving strategy. A good network of contacts that can be harnessed. Extensive experience of fundraising from individuals, ideally across a number of disciplines

including: regular giving; payroll giving; cash appeals; In Memoriam and Tribute funding; legacies; and major gifts.

A proven track record of achieving agreed targets. Target-focused and results-driven with an ambition to drive targets forward and exceed

expectations through effective time management, prioritisation and planning skills. Experience of Act! contact management system or similar in maintaining donor profile

information. A Commitment to Create, its activities and mission.

Desirable Strong organisational, administrative, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Persuasive and consistent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to

communicate with a wide variety of people at all levels. Creative skills to develop fundraising initiatives. Knowledge of project and appeal management and analysis of individual fundraising

initiatives. Strong numeracy and budgeting skills. Meticulous accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work within a small, multi-disciplinary team. Ability to work to strict deadlines and remain calm under pressure. Self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative, independently, without direct

supervision and manage performance effectively. Respect for confidentiality. A sense of humour. Smart appearance and confident manner. A flexible attitude to work: evening and weekend work are required on occasions. Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign and the Internet. If

needed, training will be given in Act! and InDesign.

Terms & Conditions Salary: £32,000-£37,000 according to experience. 28 days holiday pa including eight Public Holidays. The position is based at Create’s offices in the City of London. Occasional travel to projects across England. Office hours are 9.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday with an hour for lunch. Time Off In Lieu may be offered for weekend work required.
