Principal’s Message Dear Parents/Caregivers, Welcome to another exciting week of learning at Deniliquin South. Welcome BBQ Last Thursday, the Kindergarten students of 2019 and their families, came along for a tour of our school and then stayed on to enjoy a shared BBQ lunch. The Year 5 buddies were amazing ambassadors for our school, capably leading the tours and answering questions about our wonderful school. Thank you to Mrs Champness for preparing the Year 5 students and to Mrs Keane and Mr Hodgkinson for cooking the BBQ. 2019 Kinder Orientation The first kinder Orientation session occurs this Friday. We welcome new families and the 2019 kindergarten students into our school. Parents are reminded to have their child at school by 9:15am, with parent information session in the school hall running from 9:30 until 10:30am. Many thanks to Mrs Champness, for her outstanding organisation of these very important visits. Year 6 Canberra Excursion Start packing Year 6, just one week to go before your exciting four day trip to Canberra. This excursion should be lots of fun, with students gaining an understanding of how the Federal Government system works, as well as, taking in the sights of Canberra. The bus will leave at 5:30am, next Tuesday morning, with students in the capable hands of Miss Kerry and Mr Fajks. Year 5 Minister Speeches A reminder to Year 5 students, nominations to run for 2019 Parliament close next Monday 29th October. Speeches will be delivered in Week 5 (12th-16th November), as part of the school’s leadership election process. Voting for the 2019 Parliament will occur after all the speeches have been delivered. State Athletics Congratulations to Bede Orr and Jessica Dover, who are heading to Sydney this week to compete in the State Athletics Carnival. Both these talented students are representing the Riverina in Discus. I know that they will enjoy their time at the Carnival and appreciate the experience. School Magazine Just a reminder that the school magazine is well underway, and the Magazine Committee are seeking donations to help keep the costs down. Donors will have their name printed on the magazine and will receive a complimentary copy hot off the press. If you would like to donate, please fill in the attached form. Cricket Clinics The Sporting School sponsored Cricket clinics got off to a terrific start last week, with all classes enjoying the opportunity to learn the basic skills of cricket under the guidance of qualified local cricket coach John Arthur. The clinics will run for a further three weeks. How 2 Learn Focus – Being Connected The focus of our How2learn initiative this week, is the habit of Being Connected. When displaying this learning habit, students are actively looking for ways to develop connections with others. Students are able to create networks with others, and find it easy to relate to people in variety of situations. National Teachers Day On Monday, we celebrated National Teachers Day, valuing the wonderful level of commitment our teachers bring daily to their profession. Enjoy your week! Principal’s Message Dear Parents/Caregivers,
