Bilpin Bush Run
On Saturday 24th August, Bilpin Bush Run was held. It was a lovely day for a run in the bush with a full contingent of runners and more spectators than usual, so the BBQ was extremely popular! I would like to thank all the people for helping with organisation prior to the day and on the day with cooking and serving. Marty Graham, David Hazeltine, Cheryl Baird, Sue Tydeman, Michelle Leer and Angie Pirie.
I would also like to thank all of the teachers and Mr Eugene for giving up their Saturday to work at the Bush Run. Patrick, Cleo, Ariarn, Mia B and Mia M were also a big help with serving. Your time and assistance was much appreciated! Many thanks to all our donors and bakers as well. On behalf of the school and the P & C, I would like to thank Cathy Wilson, Penny McKinlay and the Bilpin Bush Fire Brigade for their organisation of a wonderful event and for continuing to allow us the opportunity to run the BBQ for the day as a special fundraiser to support the school.
After expenses, we raised approximately $2700 which is a fantastic effort!
Please see the P & C section for all donors, cooks and helpers.

CLASS NEWS
CLASS K/1/2 - Mrs McCloy & Ms Wheen
This week K/1/2 are learning about fractions. Kindergarten are looking at equal shares of a whole and Years 1 and 2 are investigating parts of a whole and parts of a collection. In English this week we are looking at commas in lists. We are also learning about instructions as an informative text. K/1/2 will be designing their own LEGO models and then writing their own instruction booklet for another team to use to assemble their model. In Drama this week we are continuing our unit on story building. Last week we became pirates complete with our own origami pirate hats (although our hats were a little small!). In Science K/1/2 have been busy learning about all aspects of insects ready for our excursion to Brewongle in Week 10.
CLASS 3/4 - Mrs Mackie & Mrs Carroll
Students have been continuing to present speeches of a very high standard. We look forward to their last presentation, their Show Bag Character Presentation, during the last week of school. The students have been working diligently in class, particularly during Literacy Groups. Students began a new rotation last week. Their books will continue to be sent home each day to practice fluency and expression. Please ensure they are returned daily as the books are required for their rotations. For the next 3 weeks, the students will be working on Multiplication and Division as well as Fractions and Decimals in Mathematics. During Writing, we will be focussing on Informative Texts and Poetry. In fitness we are working on kicking and dribbling. Students are working through their Life Education program during the Personal and Development and Health component of PDHPE. Enjoy your week!
CLASS 5/6 - Mr Hynds
My students having been working conscientiously and achieving great success with their class work over the past few weeks after some disruptions to our normal classroom routines due to many extracurricular activities. Over the next two weeks we will be talking about our exciting YMCA Camp happening at the end of next week and giving students information in regard to activities and what they need to bring along. We will be continuing our usual spelling, reading and homework routines up to that point. In Numeracy our topics include multiplication, addition, percentages, angles, volume and data. We will also continue our work in Science on earthquakes and on our connections around the world topic in Geography. Year 5 students and our Year 6 leadership group received notes last Friday in regard to the Leadership Day next week. Please sign and return these ASAP.
