Last Saturday saw a huge turnout for our WWSPS Working Bee. A massive thankyou to all the parents, students and staff who gave up their weekend time to continue improving the look of our school. Those who have been to the school this week will have noticed the new ‘garden houses’ in the vegetable patch (which will protect the veggies from our birds and hungry possums), freshly mulched garden beds and other tidy cleared spaces. Special thanks to Mrs Watson, Mrs Nuttall and Miss Goder for organising the event and to both Mr Watsons, Mr Ansell and Mrs Formston for getting there super early to get things started. 2019 NAPLAN Results This week schools received the 2019 NAPLAN results for analysis. It is expected that student in Years 3 and 5 will receive their personal NAPLAN results in the coming weeks. I will continue to provide information about release dates as the information comes to hand. Tell Them From Me Survey As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, The Tell Them From Me survey for parents, students and teachers has opened for 2019. In the coming weeks all students in Year 4, 5 and 6 will be completing the survey unless exempt by parent request (a note regarding student surveys will be sent home today). This survey gives the school important information on the programs that are of benefit to the students, as well as providing valuable constructive feedback on ideas to make our school even better. The more responses we get the better our ability to make change. We value the contributions that our parents make to our school and would like to invite all parents to complete the Tell them from Me Parent Survey by following the link on: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/92d9p Mathew in 3/4I received a Principal’s Award for his great work on the Red Belly Black Snake. Well done!

Kindergarten 2020 Our Kindergarten ‘Ready for School’ program will commence on the second Thursday of Term 4. If you know of anyone who lives locally with Kindergarten age children for 2020, please don’t hesitate to invite them along or recommend our school as a fantastic place to be! Have a great week everyone Matt Barr Principal

PBL Focus for Week 8 This week, we are learning to use our school values when playing ball games. Remember to use nice words, be in the correct area and include everyone in our games. By using Respect, Responsibility and Relationships while playing ball games we make our school a happier place for all students and teachers. The PBL Team.

Woy Woy South Working Bee What a transformation! We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all families, friends and teachers who volunteered and gave up their time to help at our working bee on Saturday. The weather was wonderful and there were so many happy faces and helping hands. With everyone’s help, we were able to assemble covers for the veggie beds, add some extra veggie patches, clean up playgrounds and gardens, mulch the year 6 eating area and mulch many garden beds around the school. We also planted lots of seedlings and are so excited to see them grow. The snow peas have already started to travel up the wire frame! A special thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Umina, Campbell HOME hardware and Eagles Plumbing Plus for kindly helping to make our project come together. We are looking forward to our children working in our garden to make it flourish.

K-2 Science with Ms. Cullen Stage 1 investigated objects changing due to freezing and also had fun

with dancing popcorn. Kindergarten learned why objects need to be waterproofed and then experimented with some materials.

Year 6. Cultural Continuum

Last Wednesday students from Year 6 went to Umina Public School to participate in an

Aboriginal Cultural Continuum.

We were fortunate to have Amy, who graduated from NAISDA Dance College teach us some Aboriginal dancing. We danced Sina Yo Yo

from Moa Island in the Torres Strait.

We listened to stories told by Rheese Bull and he taught us about the Yidaki (Didgeridoo). The day was a great learning experience and it was

enjoyed by everyone.
