Term 2 Week 3 : Thursday 9 th May 2019 Do Small Things Well St Theresa’s In honour of the Red Team winning the 2019 sports (for the second year in a row!), the newsletter will be printed in red this week. Congratulations Red Team Sport Captains Chelsea, Kayla and Lucas and to the whole team who competed so well. Congratulations to Jessica, our fantastic Phys Ed teacher, for running such a well-organized and fun day. MOTHER’S DAY STALL : TOMORROW 10 th May First of all, we need to give a big thankyou to our families for the fantastic donations that came in for our Mothers Day stall. There are beautiful gifts for our kids to buy for their Mums tomorrow ranging from $2 to $15. So Dads, make sure you give your children some money to buy a gift for Mum. SHHHHH…Mum’s the word! Thanks to our amazing fundraising group who gave up their time to organize and wrap all the gifts…it was a big job! MOTHER’S DAY MASS : TOMORROW 10 th May @ 9.10am Dear Mums and Grandmas, you are invited to join us for a beautiful Mass to celebrate our Mums and Grandmothers and say thanks for all that you do for us. Following the Mass, you are invited to enjoy cake and a cuppa in the staffroom. Rose Montalto has kindly offered to make one of her masterpiece cakes. Wouldn’t it be lovely to take a little time to sit and enjoy our other mums’ company….as well as eat yummy cake? Thanks heaps Rose! The proud captains of the winning team, Kayla, Lucas & Chelsea, are presented with the shield Principal: Robert Macklin www.stalbion.catholic.edu.au Sunday is the day we celebrate Mothers. In celebrating mothers, we especially think about Mary, Mother of Jesus. Mary was a wonderful example to all mothers. Mothers hold a special role in families and today we acknowledge their great work and give thanks to them all. We pray… ‘God our Father, we want to thank Mary, Mother of Jesus, and our mothers too. She always did what you wanted her to do. Help us to listen to you and to do what you want with joy. Help us to always do what our Mums want us to do. Amen. A VISIT FROM THE WESTERN BULLDOGS PLAYERS This week our Year 3 & 4s were lucky enough to spend an hour with some terrific Western Bulldogs players. They spoke to the children about Leadership and Teamwork skills and what it takes to get the best out of yourself. They related our school mantra of “Be Safe, Be Happy, Be Caring and Be Ready to Learn’, to their team captain, Easton Wood, saying what a great leader he was because he displayed these qualities to others all the time and how much they admired him. They spoke of SEL skills like mindfulness, resilience, positive mindsets and grit and how important it is to display these skills on the footy field but more importantly, in life. They used the example of having a positive mindset when an umpire’s decision goes against them and how important it is to push through the disappointment and not give up. Respect and kindness were also words that are important to them. We were very impressed by these young men and the powerful messages they had for the students and would like to thank the Western Bulldogs Football Club for providing this opportunity for the children.
