It was wonderful to see our students so excited as they made special giſts, visited the mother’s day stall, wrapped their giſts and put the final touches to the very creave cards for their mums. It is always a special day. Road Safety Each week I have a duty at the crossing out the front of the school and I am always shocked and disappointed by the number of drivers who don’t slow down to 25 kilometres per hour (or at all) when the lights are flashing. We would have weekly incidents of people speeding through the crossing or failing to stop. This puts our students and parents in danger. I have spoken with both the Police and Local Council about our issues and the police will be acvely monitoring drivers behaviour. Our students who run the crossing are all trained by the Police and have a good understanding of how they are helping our students get to and from school safely each day. We need the members of the wider community to also be part of keeping our students safe as they travel to and from school. Please make sure that you slow down to 25 kilometres per hour whenever the school lights are flashing and look for our monitors on duty – if their Stop signs are out, all traffic must stop! I have also spoken with local council about our parking issues with both side streets very congested most mornings and aſternoons. Council are going to undertake a traffic survey using road counters to idenfy peak areas and me and look for alternaves. Our kiss and drop system works well if all drivers follow the rules and don’t park in that area. The zone is designed to drop a child off in the morning or to pick up children who are already waing at the gate in the aſternoon. If your child is not waing there, please find another spot to park and come back to collect your child. It only takes one person not doing the right thing for the whole area to become banked up and frustrang for all. Please help us keep our students safe as they travel to and from school.

Term 2 Week 3, 2017 Wednesday 17th May 2017

I hope that all our mum’s had a wonderful Mother’s day on Sunday and were well and truly spoilt by their families. It was wonderful to see our students so excited as they made special gifts, visited the mother’s day stall, wrapped their gifts and put the final touches to the very creative cards for their mums. This puts our

students and parents in danger. I have spoken with both the Police and Local Council about our issues and the police will be actively monitoring drivers behaviour. I have also spoken with local council about our parking issues with both side streets very congested most mornings and afternoons. Council are going to undertake a traffic survey using road counters to identify peak areas and time and look for alternatives. Our kiss and drop system works well if all drivers follow the rules and don’t park in that area. The zone is designed to drop a child off in the morning or to pick up children who are already waiting at the gate in the afternoon. If your child is not waiting there, please find another spot to park and come back to collect your child. It only takes one person not doing the right thing for the whole area to become banked up and frustrating for all. Please help us keep our students safe as they travel to and from school.

Walk to School Day This Friday is National Walk to School day, encouraging active transport to school and building our pedestrian skills to walk safely to school. We encourage all families to take part, either walking from home, parking away from school and walking the last 10 minutes or joining one of our walking groups that are starting around Clare with staff participation. Groups will be gathering at Ennis Park, the sheep sculptures on the Riesling Trail and on the corner outside the Ford Dealer at 8:00am. ready to leave for the walk to school at 8:15am. Once arriving at school, those who have walked will be given a pancake and stickers for being involved. We are looking for parents to help, either by walking with a group to school or by helping cook pancakes. Please let us know if you can help out.

Safe Access to School A reminder for all parents that the car park behind the dental clinic is not a suitable or safe access point to the school for students or parents. Please make sure you and your child are not walking through, or parking in, this carpark as they come to school or leave at the end of the day. We have had several near misses as cars pull in and out and I would hate for an accident to occur. This carpark is for staff and taxi access only.

Partnership Open Day On Wednesday 7th June all the schools and Kindergartens in our partnership will be holding an open day to showcase all the wonderful things happening in our sites and lift the community awareness of Public Education. Our school will be offer-ing ours at 9:30am, 11:30am and 1:30pm, led by school leaders, where visitors will be shown a variety of activities happen-ing in our classes. All parents and the wider community are welcome to join a tour and be part of this day. Clare Valley Chil-dren’s Centre and Clare High School will be offering tours at the same times allowing parents to visit more than one site. Please put this date in your diary and join a school tour at our school, one of our feeder Kindergartens or at Clare High School.

Music is Fun Performance Next Wednesday our school will be attending a “Music is Fun” performance at the Clare High School gym, along with stu-dents from Watervale and Manoora Primary Schools. Most students will be bussed to and from the high school with our oldest 4 classes walking, weather permitting. There is no cost for the performance to parents with the school covering the full cost of the show. This is the first of 4 performance this year that our students will have the opportunity to experience. A permission note will be sent home shortly for this event.

SAPSASA Cross Country This Friday we have 26 students competing in the SAPSASA Cross Country event at Burra. I wish all our students all the best in this difficult event. Winners at Burra have the chance to compete at Oakbank later this term and to be selected in a state team.

Ride to School day Thursday 1st June is our next Breaky, Bikes and Being Safe ride to school day, organised by the OPAL program and support-ed by the Clare and Gilbert Valley Council. Again, we encourage our students to join in with this event, arriving at the old train station carpark at the end of Lennon street from 7:30am for a delicious breakfast cooked by the Lions club before leaving to Ride to School at 8:00am. School staff will attend and lead students on the ride back to school. Parents are wel-come to join us for the ride to school.

Body Image Parent Workshop On Tuesday 30th May Clare High School are hosting the Butterfly Education who are running a parent information session

on how parents can support their child develop a positive body image. This is a free session and I encourage all parents to

attend. A flier is included in this week’s newsletter. Thanks to Clare High to organising this high quality presentation and

offering it to the wider community.

Lions Club of Clare District

A very big thank you to the Lions Club for donating a cheque for $300 to assist with the running costs of breakfast club

each day at school—very much appreciated!

Dance Troupe—Festival of Music

A very big congratulations to Sophie Driver for being selected to Dance Troupe for the Festival Theatre, a fantastic effort as

spots are very limited and Sophie is our first student from Clare to be selected. Students Missy Corfield and Mia Hockham

also did well to make it to the audition.

Regards, Mark Vincent Principal

only chat with them if you have given permission on

enrolment forms).

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help

support you at Clare Primary! I may not always know

the answer but I will do my best to find out.

I will be running Chess Club in the Resource Centre on

Mondays and I’m looking for keen competitors.

Breaky Club runs from 8.30am until the bell goes at

8:55am and is held in the room up the stairs behind the

hall.

I will be serving smoothies occasionally which will con-
