DESIGN PORTFOLIO
ABOUT ME:Currently a senior at the University of Houston, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Industrial Design. Looking for an engaging work environment in which creative expression, ingenuity, and attention to detail are both valued and encouraged.
MY PHILOSOPHY:Design should feel good. An interaction with a well-designed product is like a good hand shake. It is an understanding of what brings joy to points in our lives, and provides a medium through which to recreate these moments.
These moments are what drive me to create, and my goal as a designer is to generate products that hold value beyond their intrinsic qualities.

Backpacking is a minimalist form of camping, where everything you have with you is carried on your back, typically for multiple days.

Integrating Technologies:
Prototyping/ Validation:
3M Thinsulate uses Aerogel, a super-light material that traps heat very effectively.
Window zippers are derived from the user’s natural arm swing.
Weldable Nylon is used to create an air-tight seal between the floor and the inflatable pad.
AmphoraAmphora is a wine conditioning and preservation utensil that allows the user to get the best experience out of their choice of wine.

Q: What are the benefits of modularity other than expanding volume?
A: The beauty of modularity is that objects can change not only their form but also their function as modules are combined.
When Block comes together, it doubles as a room divider.

Sound Inspired by music. . .When Ludwig Van Beethoven was told that he would become irreversably deaf, he sawed the legs off of his piano and learned to hear through the vi-brations that he felt through the ground. This is the same way that we hear ourselves speak.
Can this concept be used to improve the way we transmit sound?
Sound Inspired by music. . .
Reapplying the structure of human bones can be used to enhance the sound of ordinary speakers.
Speaker Construction:
Exploded View:
HDPE tubeincreases bass
ABS cone boosts mids
ABS backplate directs sound
Sound Enhancement:
Individual speakers attach to base with magnets, where they recharge.
Sandblasted steel plate attaches to wall with thumb tacks.
Magnets on back of speaker attach to steel plate.
Speakers can be moved all around the house, wirelessly.
Working Prototype
Food trucks are a new dining experience that have recently taken the metropolitan areas of the U.S. by storm. Being a newer trend, some problems still exist with the eating style associated with them.

?
Food Trucks need to provide their customers with a way to eat their food.
These supplies become overflowing garbage cans that take away from the environments they are meant to improve.
But is this the only solution?
Bioplastic: Compressed RecycledCardboard:
Natural acid is added to starch to break up amylopectin molecules (leaving long, straight
amylose molecules).
Vegetable Glycerin is added as a plasticizer- a molecular lubricant.
The result is a 100% compostable plastic.
Cardboard is processed through pulper.2
3
The Other solution:
1 Cardboard is gathered.
Resulting material is easily remoldable.

Customer uses Product
Customer Initiates Decomposition
Product Spreads Nature
Final Concept:
Incorporating wildflower seeds into the recycled cardboard allows the trash that is strewn around food trucks to help spread the beauty of nature that is meant to surround these environments.
Compressed cardboard is infused with seeds, molded, and trimmed.
Bioplastic is overmolded and bonds to cardboard.

At times one of the most dicult tasks in this environment is the organization of items used for rehabilitation on a daily basis.
Tools for recovery need to be designed that are eective for the age group using them. “Make them less toy-like, but still eective.”
Some of the most eective products we use are also the simplest. Standard cones are eective for both building a client’s condence and muscles after a fall.
The Merry Walker is a great piece of equipment for aiding those who cannot walk safely on their own. This piece of equipment’s strength is in its function, but it at the same time lacks in aesthetic and emotional value .
The standing frame is a very raw mechanical piece of equipment like much of the others in the facility. Often machines like this one are a hurdle in recovery because they intimidate their users.
Much of the equipment used in this facility and others is rented due to its high initial cost. The fall back is a system of machines that cannot be repaired internally, and that are a constant draw on a facilities nances.

A nurse from Grace Inc. tests Dr. Vyas’s blood pressure and sugar. Dr. Vyas is a type 2 diabetic.
Lunch is delivered by Meals on Wheels weekdays at 1.
Dr. Vyas has had 2 heart attacks, and now visits her cardiologist at St. Luke’s Heart Center times a week.
Dr. Vyas cooks either a side dish or an entrée for charity. All of the counters are covered with dining ware since Dr. Vyas cannot put them in her cabinets.
With a ride from her nurse, Dr. Vyas serves the food she has made at a homeless and helpless center.
nights a week, Dr. Vyas walks to the corner to meet friends and play King’s Corner. They also eat a pot luckstyle community meal.
very Saturday, a young man from the congregation drives Dr. Vyas to Jewish Temple. Dr. Vyas is Hindu, but the Hindu temple is too far away.
Dr. Vyas sits outside, waiting for a passerby to help her bring out the trash because she cannot do it alone.

1.) Gathers ClothesClothes are taken from the hampers in the bathroom and the bedroom.
Using the walker seat as a basket, the clothes are walked to the garage.
Clothes are thrown from doorway to washing machine so that the hands can be used for support.
Clothes are picked up from floor in front of washing machine.
Clothes are placed in washing machine and laundry detergent is added.
The washing machine is started. “I just turn it till it clicks.”
The clothes are placed around the garage one by one so they can dry. “I am poor, I would rather save electricity.”
