Sport tires

The Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup

tire was specially developed and

com prehen sively tested for the 911

model range (Type 997). Originally

designed for competition use, it

offers extremely high levels of dry-

weather grip and a high-precision

steering response. The results:

stable handling and faster lap

times. This capability has been

augmented with excellent control

in damp conditions. However, as

with all high-performance tires, the

low-profile shape can be a bit more

susceptible to hydroplaning.

The Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup tire is available in conjunction with the 19-inchCarrera Sport and the 19-inch Turbo wheel.

Brake (PCCB) combines a carbon

fiber-reinforced ceramic disc with

high-performance composite

pads and an internal system of

intricate cooling channels to

deliver unmatched thermal

stability.

With six-piston monobloc aluminum

calipers in front and four-piston

units at the rear, PCCB delivers

extremely high and consistent

levels of friction under braking for

the ultimate in fade-free stopping

power. Cross-drilled discs and

water-resistant brake linings

ensure equally superior

performance in wet weather.

The decisive advantage of PCCB

is a significant weight savings

over comparable standard

brake discs of approximately

50 percent. As well as enhancing

performance and fuel economy,

this huge reduction in both

unsprung and rotational mass

offers major benefits in terms of

comfort and roadholding.

The new redesigned PCM system

is now even more powerful and

multifunctional, yet it’s easier

to operate. You can choose

to operate the PCM using the

button controls or the 6.5-inch

touchscreen. With a maximum

of five list items per page, the

screen displays information very

clearly, and a help function is

displayed at the foot of the

screen. The integrated single

CD/DVD drive is—in combination

with the optional Bose® Surround

Sound system—now able to play

back music from audio and video

DVDs in the 5.1 digital format.

Electronic logbook for PCM

The electronic logbook enables

automatic recording of mileage,

route distance, time and date,

starting point and destination as

Universal audio interface

This is integrated into the

storage compartment in the

center console and provides

three connections: one for an

iPod,® one for a USB stick, and

one as an AUX interface for

conveniently using the PCM and

the multifunction steering wheel.

Universal audio interface

Voice-control system for PCM

Almost all of the functions of

PCM can be controlled using the

latest optional voice-control

system. Each menu item is read

aloud exactly as it is displayed

on the screen and the voice-

control system recognizes

the commands or number

sequences, irrespective of the

speaker. It gives audible feedback

and guides you through the

functions. There is no need to

“train” the system. Phone book

entries can be retrieved, a radio

station selected or the navigation

destination entered directly by

speaking whole words, rather

than dictating one letter at a time.

Bluetooth® hands-free

phone interface

To enable Bluetooth® connection

for those mobile phones that

support the Hands-Free Profile

(HFP), an optional hands-free

phone interface is available.

With HFP, the PCM acts as a

hands-free system. The mobile
