Every aspect of the architecture, from floor to ceiling adds to the relaxed and ultra-modern feel. Project brief The DAA was looking for a cost effective fabric ceiling because of its acoustic properties and natural and artificial light reflectivity. The proposed system needed to be able to echo the double curvature and elegant lines of the terminal shell and be installed in a tight window of time. Installation was a challenge with ceiling heights ranging from 5m to 23m and each panel offset by 600mm. Design solution The solution developed by Fabric Architecture is ArchiClad, a fully modular fabric ceiling system with the flexibility to be applied both vertically and horizontally. This clever linking system allows for self-regulation, ensuring lines are crisp and clean. We installed two 15m double curvature fan vaults and 27,000 m2 of fabric ceiling panels. This economic solution shaved hundreds of thousands of pounds off the final price.

Terminal 2 was designed with travellers in mind. Every aspect of the architecture, from floor to ceiling adds to the relaxed and ultra-modern feel.

Project briefThe DAA was looking for a cost effective fabric ceiling because of its acoustic properties and natural and artificial light reflectivity.

The proposed system needed to be able to echo the double curvature and elegant lines of the terminal shell and be installed in a tight window of time. Installation was a challenge with ceiling heights ranging from 5m to 23m and each panel offset by 600mm.
