I landed in country on the 21st of June to look at property for our Home for Orphan Mothers’ project. I loved being back in the area, even if it was only for nine days. On my first night in country, I met with several missionaries for dinner. It was a great time of fellowship with good food. I easily slipped into a deep sleep because I felt like I was home. The next morning, my wife, Vicky, called. I knew from her tone she had bad news. She said, “I am sorry to tell you that Nubian Chaplain Justin Kujali has lost his life.” Justin is a modern day mighty man of valor; in our corps of over 500 men, Justin is one of the top ten. He labored fearlessly and faithfully alongside the leadership of our Nubian Corps in the most dangerous areas. The commanding general of the Nubian Army, Jagot, personally attended the funeral. Justin was loved by his fellow chaplains, the thousands of soldiers he ministered to and by a huge civilian population. He was the kind of man who took every opportunity to show the love of Jesus in word and in deed. Justin only knew ten years of peace in his brief but full forty-year lifespan. He never shrank back from physical or spiritual battles. His decision to follow Christ cost him his earthly family who were Muslims; they immediately and violently disowned him. This chosen vessel for Christ did as Christ commanded—he left everything behind for the sake of the Gospel and he never looked back. Sadly, Justin never saw his earthly family again, but he counted their rejection as his acceptable service to please his Savior and never ceased Ten Thousand Years on the Other Side of Eternity Let’s ask ourselves, “Will the things I invest my heart, time and money in, will they matter ten thousand years on the other side of eternity?”

This chosen vessel for Christ did as Christ commanded—he left everything behind for the sake of the Gospel and he never looked

Ten Thousand Years on the Other Side

of Eternity

Let’s ask ourselves, “Will the things I invest

my heart, time and money in, will they matter

ten thousand years on the other side of eternity?”

to pray for their salvation. The following day Vicky

called me again, this time she said, “Honey, I am so

sorry to call you again, but Chaplain Charles Kenyi

has also lost his life.” At that moment, I just felt

numb knowing the twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh

members of our staff had made their final journey to

the Kingdom of Heaven. While I am very aware that

they are receiving their just

reward, it is still difficult

to lose men you love. I take

comfort knowing all their

sorrows have been washed away

and the saints are welcoming

them with unspeakable joy.

These men never lived for the

treasures of this life; eternity

was blazing upon their hearts

and every area of their lives

demonstrated it. The Apostle

Paul said, “But God forbid that

I should boast except

in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the

world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

Justin and Kenyi lived in such a way that their lives

said the exact same thing. We, too, need to live for the

things of eternity—the things that truly matter. Let’s

ask ourselves, “Will the things I invest my heart,

time and money in, will they matter ten thousand

years on the other side of eternity?”

Below are Justin and Kenyi’s testimonies. They are

men, just like we are, but God’s Spirit ruled and

reigned in and through them. Let Him rule and reign

in you, too. Time is short and we must make the most

of what we have left.

Biography for Chaplain Justin Margany Kujali

Area of Deployment: Nuba Mountains

I was born in Khartoum to a Muslim family. I

thought all religions were the same, in that they gave

glory to the same God. I began Islamic school in 1981

and for the next four years, I

lived with an Arab family who

practiced Islam.

I was taught that Christians

could not go to heaven because

they were not circumcised and

that they were very unclean.

I asked a Christian why he

thought that he would go to

heaven. He answered, "The

Bible says that if you believe in

God with all of your mind and

heart, you will enter the Kingdom of Heaven." His

answer made me believe that he was telling the truth.

In 1989, I joined the SPLA. I began going to church.

I realized that I was a sinner, and the only wisdom

that I had was worldly. I learned that our Almighty-

Heavenly Father sent His only Son to die for our sins

and through His wonderful power, God changed my

heart from darkness to light. I pray that God will fill

me with spiritual knowledge and protect me in His

grace. I desire to teach others of the Truth. I also pray

that the world will know the truth about the fighting

in Sudan.

"But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." — Matthew 10:33-34

Biography for Chaplain Charles Arkanjelo Kenyi

Area of deployment: Frontline Combat Unit

In 1994, my father took me and f led to Uganda. My mother remained behind in Sudan to collect our belongings. When my father reached the refugee camp, he began to drink. I started attending the Catholic church. My father was abusive and did not

want me to go to pray. I was angry and confused. I used to drink and fight on a regular basis.

There was a Christian prayer group in the evenings in my area. I decided to join them. I was not baptized and I attended their classes. I liked learning about God, but I was not born again. I began to have a deep concern for the problems of the soldiers at the frontline. When I heard about the Far Reaching Ministries’ (FRM) chaplaincy program, I wanted to join. When I began learning the

Bible, verse-by-verse, I accepted Christ as my Savior. I found that Jesus loves me and died for my sins.

My life has totally changed since I became a chaplain. I told my wife about

Fighting erupted in South Sudan again this month; already, hundreds have been killed. Men like Justin and Kenyi are the key to changing the heart of this broken nation. Because they are sold out for Christ they are the unifying factor in country at war with itself. Pray for the Gospel to go forth with power and authority—here and there!
