Additional FeaturesMultiple ICP support: in a network environment wheremultiple ICPs are deployed within the enterprise, onlyone Teleworker Solution gateway is required. This reducescapital costs and increases network simplicity. TeleworkerSolution, Release 4.0 and above supports the directconnection of the Your Assistant Softphone Option and the Mitel Your Assistant™ Collaboration Optionapplications*. Mitel Your Assistant™ can nowinterconnect to the 3300 ICP through the TeleworkerSolution server. For example, remote workers are nowable to use Your Assistant or Your Assistant SoftphoneOption without the need of a VPN connection back intothe corporate office. Full Your Assistant functionality, including Your Assistant Softphone Option, Your AssistantCollaboration Option, presence and availability, and MitelYour Assistant™ ACD Option are all supported in a non-VPN environment.

* Your Assistant, Release 3.2 or above is required.

Increased Resiliency: In the event of a primary 3300 ICP failure, the Teleworker Solution willautomatically fail-over to a secondary 3300 ICP with no interruption in service. In the case of a TeleworkerSolution server failure, a secondary Teleworker Solutionserver can provide a resilient backup solution to thePrimary Teleworker Solution server.

The Mitel Line Interface Module provides PSTN fail-overshould the link between the Teleworker Solution phoneand Teleworker Solution gateway fail. The Line InterfaceModule also enables a user to select a local analog linevia the Mitel 5224 IP Phone for local, emergency, orpersonal outgoing calls. Incoming calls to this analog line can also be received via the 5224 IP Phone.

Key Benefits Simplicity: Each individual Teleworker Solution phone can simply and quickly be configured in a few shortsteps. Alternately, system administrators can use aninstaller password to reduce the time needed for large installations. (Entering the installer passwordautomatically adds each phone’s ID to the list ofallowable IDs.) End users require no training; they simply plug in a pre-programmed Mitel IP phone andstart working.

Scalability: One Teleworker Solution gateway supports up to 1,000 clients. Up to 128 simultaneous calls arepossible per 3300 ICP. The number of Teleworker Solutionusers can be increased easily and efficiently through the purchase of additional license packs. Licenses areavailable in packs of five, 25, 50, or 100. TeleworkerSolution gateways can also be daisy chained to allowone Teleworker Solution gateway to be connected directly to another Teleworker Solution gateway. Thisconfiguration can be useful in larger, more complexnetwork environments where there might be oneTeleworker Solution gateway in the demilitarized zone (DMZ) and another being used internally. Or it is useful for installations that require more than 1,000 teleworkers.

Security: The Teleworker Solution uses secure real-timetransport protocol (SRTP) with 128-bit AES encryption ofvoice connections and industry-standard SSL to encryptthe call control. For more information, please view the“Security and the Mitel Teleworker Solution” white paperavailable on Mitel OnLine and www.mitel.com.

Flexibility: The Teleworker Solution uses a wide range of standard Mitel IP phones including the Mitel 5560 IPT(Mitel’s turret phone). Once Teleworker Solution phonesare programmed, employees can simply bring them homeand plug them in, resulting in increased flexibility andlower corporate costs. (Bandwidth requirements are kept to a minimum using optional G.729 transcoding.) In addition to a Mitel IP phone, the Teleworker Solutionalso supports the Your Assistant Softphone Option and

Contact Center Softphone (5.3). To increase enterpriseefficiency, Teleworker Solution phones can now streamvoice conversations directly from one Teleworker Solutionphone to another without the voice path going back tothe Teleworker Solution gateway, when the voice path is contained within a remote office location (point-to-point). The Teleworker Solution gateway will support up to 20 IP phones behind a single NAT router. This is an ideal solution for remote branch offices working overa small Internet link.

Configuration and SpecificationsThe following diagram shows two possible configurationsfor the Teleworker Solution. In the first, the TeleworkerSolution gateway is deployed in server-only mode andplaced behind an existing corporate firewall, and cantherefore operate with existing firewall protocols. In thesecond, the Teleworker Solution gateway is deployed inserver / gateway mode and takes on the role of firewalland gateway for the Teleworker Solution connections. It should be noted that when the Teleworker Solution isdeployed in server / gateway mode, the firewall should be used for Teleworker Solution connections only and notused as the business firewall.
