Dear Brothers and Sisters:
The Gospel plays a tune made up of three notes. Three notes which, in our society, are not always that well-tuned: one note of doing, one of friendship and another one of coherence of life. Nowadays, we all have very busy lives, but, do we have a plan? To-day, when we are navigating through a world of communications, are we capable of being alone in our own company for a while? Today, in the information era, are we letting it shape who we are? A plan. Mary, a young woman «betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the family of David» (Lk 1:28). Mary has a plan. Of human proportions, evidently. Nevertheless, God comes into her life to bestow on her another project... of divine proportions. Today, He wants to come into our lives too, to give our everyday human tasks divine proportions. A presence. «Do not fear, Mary» (Lk 1:30). We just do not go and build the first thing that comes into our head! Lest our addiction to “doing” were to become a way to hide a void. Marriage, a life of servitude, our profession, should not mean a leap in the dark. «(...) Full of grace, the Lord is with you» (Lk 1:28). Presence that accompanies and provides a new meaning. Trust in God, which —indirectly— brings us to trust others. Friendship with God that renews our friendship with others, too. To shape ourselves. Today, when we are confronted with so many stimuli, so often conflicting, it is necessary to give unity and shape to our life. Dear brothers and sisters, you are all invited to come to the novena within the Mass to Our Lady of Gua-dalupe beginning on Dec. 3 until Friday Dec 6 at 7 pm Spanish Mass and the celebration of the feast on Dec 12 beginning at 5:30 pm with the presence of our Bishop James Johnston. Queridos Hermanos & Hermanas:
Hoy, el Evangelio toca un acorde compuesto por tres notas. Tres notas no siempre bien afinadas en nuestra sociedad: la del hacer, la de la
amistad y la de la coherencia de vida. Hoy día hacemos muchas cosas, pero, ¿tenemos un proyecto? Hoy, que navegamos en la sociedad de la comunicación,
¿tiene cabida en nuestros corazones la soledad? Hoy, en la era de la información, ¿nos permite ésta dar forma a nuestra personalidad?
Un proyecto. María, una mujer «desposada con un hombre llamado José, de la casa de David» (Lc 1,28). María tiene un proyecto. Evidentemente, de pro-
porciones humanas. Sin embargo, Dios irrumpe en su vida para presentarle otro proyecto... de proporciones divinas. También hoy, quiere entrar en nuestra
vida y dar proporciones divinas a nuestro quehacer humano.
Una presencia. «No temas, María» (Lc 1,30). ¡No construyamos de cualquier manera! No fuera caso que la adicción al “hacer” escondiera un vacío. El mat-
rimonio, la vida de servicio, la profesión no han de ser una huida hacia adelante. «Llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo» (Lc 1,28). Presencia que acompaña
y da sentido. Confianza en Dios, que —de rebote— nos lleva a la confianza con los otros. Amistad con Dios que renueva la amistad con los otros.
Formarnos. Hoy día, que recibimos tantos estímulos con frecuencia contrapuestos, es necesario dar forma y unidad a nuestra vida.
Queridos hermanos y hermanas, todos están invitados a participar de la novena dentro de la Misa a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe a
partir del 3 de diciembre hasta el viernes 6 de diciembre a las 7 pm con la Misa en español y la celebración de la fiesta el 12 de diciembre a las 5:30
pm con la presencia de nuestro Obispo SantiagoJohnston.
