I have received many messages of appreciation and encouragement. I have also received messages of concern and we need to always be open to suggestions of how we can do things better. Our goals for the year are focused on building a stronger school culture of Faith and Learning. I wish to congratulate our two teachers who substituted for Sandra Garnett, Religious Education Co‐ordinator, and who have taken over the stewardship of the faith dimension of the school for Term 1. Nikole Brooks has brought a youthful enthusiasm to our College prayer and has endeavoured to involve the students in leading prayer at every opportunity. Vicki Isbester has focused on the curriculum aspect of our Religious Education program and has led the Year 12 students away this week for their visit to several sacred sites in Sydney and a two day reϐlective retreat in Wollongong. Next term Sandra will resume her role as REC and I wish to thank Nikole and Vicki for their good work in her absence. There are early indications that our focus on improving student learning is bearing fruit. Most students are making good use of their 20 minutes each morning in Mentor Groups. This time is being used to improve particular elements of learning; whether it be improving reading and comprehension, improving written expression, setting and reviewing learning goals or improving spelling and grammar. Each Monday at Student Brieϐing, Miss Woolaston speaks to the students about one particular aspect of learning with practical hints to assist students improve their learning outcomes. Year 11 students are making good use of the Year 11 study room being opened up each morning before school and at lunch. Year 12 are making good use of their study periods in the library and more students are using the Homework Centre after school. The Interium Reports for Year 7 will be available at the Year 7 Parent/Teacher Night this week and those for Years 8 to 10 will be emailed or posted to parents before the end of term and parents are encouraged to contact teachers if they require more feedback. Reports for Years 11 and 12 will be sent home early next term ready for Parent Teacher Interviews on Wednesday May 17. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week leading up to the death on Good Friday to be followed by the rising on Easter Sunday: “He emptied himself to assume the condition of a slave, and become as men are; and being as men are , he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.” Ph 2:78 `tå dâ|Ü~ Principal ANZAC Day March 25th April All students are encouraged to gather near Mitre 10 at 10.30am to march with St Mary’s College. Year Eight Year 8 students are finishing their unit on Global Inequali es. Students have been looking at the differences in access to clean and safe water around the world. Whilst many of us take water for

granted, the topic allowed students to see the real cost and impact, par cularly to young children and

teenage girls, if they do not have access to clean and safe water.

Let’s do something to help.... Year 8.3 are con nuing the great work of Mrs Isbester’s Year

8.1 started last year and will be fundraising for the Living Water Myanmar Project.

Keep an eye out for all things BLUE at school and help us make a

difference in the world!
