See that Birmingham entry is very
good for judge Karen Gilliland from
Ireland to cast her eye over, 56
making 59 entries.
The Welsh Kennel Club is one
of those shows that the weather
is either beautiful or as in some
years year cold and wet. This year
although a little damp at the start
turned out to be a very nice day
although rather than using the grass
ring allocated we were in the usual
indoor rings. Our judge was Miss
Gill Legerton who drew an entry of
52 and on the day had 11 absentees.
Bitch CC and BOB went to
Barry and Sue Coulson with Ch
Woodhenge Star Xtravanganza
with the reserve going to Blance,
Shelton and Williams team with
Ch. Penliath Sent To Coventy (Ai).
In dogs, Teresa Maddox won
with Redfordill Magic Moments
to Salvenik JW (Imp) with the
reserve to Alan and Elaine Barlows
Woodhenge Star Agent for Pendrell
(Nbt).
In puppies, the Blances won with
Penliath Bill Me Later (Ai) who
later went on the 3rd in the Puppy
Group under Liz Cartledge. Best
Veteran went to Mesdames Weedall
and Bogue with Ch Bronaby Troopin
The Colour JW.
Had a lovely email from two
sisters that have been members of
the Welsh Corgi League for many
years now. Mary and Elizabeth
Hastings are celebrating 74 years of
having owned a Corgi! Their very
first was bought for them by their father whilst on holiday in Towyn
and was subsequently named Judy.
They currently have numbers 9, 10
and 11 which was the New Zealand
bred bitch we purchased from Di
Dickenson and two of her sons.
These ladies are a real credit to the
breed.

WEST HIGHLAND WHITE TERRIERThe Welsh KC held Saturday 17th at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, Powys. Mrs S Goodwin (Spitewinter) took on the breed and chose as her BOB Marie & Ann Burns’s Ch Burneze Our Marnie (Multi/Int Ch Tomlyndon Eager Ernest JW- Ch Burneze Plan Bea), Res BCC from Junior Marie & Ann Burns’s Ch Burneze Maid To Order (Ch Hillsted Same Again- Ch Burneze Geordie Girl). DCC & BV Shawna Fryer’s CH Int/Ch Hopecharm Prince Harry (reIMP) (born 7.1.11) (Ch Lamsmore Fritwritten- DK SW Ch Vogerie Lizzie Bryce by Hopecharm (reIMP) Res DCC Marie & Ann Burn’s Ch Burneze Wild at Heart (Ch Bocan’s Bolt To Bellevue- Ch Burneze Billie on Air). BP Shawna Fryer’s Smash Sparking Rose By Homecharm (IMP) Entries 34, 12 were dogs, 5 dog pups-6 bitch, absent 3. Any further
news I will gladly give you next week. A notable event- all three of the Groups-- a Westie was represented- Marie & Ann Burns’s BOB Ch Burneze Our Marnie won Terrier Group Reserve, the judge Mr Paul Harling. Shawna Fryer’s BP Smash Sparkling Rose By Hopecharm (IMP) won Terrier Puppy Group 2 the judge Mrs Liz Cartledge & Shawna Fryer’s Ch Int/Ch Hopecharm Prince Harry (reIMP) won Terrier Veteran group 3 the judge Mr Tony Allcock Among the emails put onto my computer is one headed EXTRA DOG training- all to do with better understanding of your dog, this would have interested me greatly in my more active (younger) days. Its all to do with New Canine Body Language and with reactive dog courses from the Dog training college and the email signed by Senior Instructor Alex Wilson. I have a feeling I have mentioned this before we had a Westie I’m sure she said hello, it was only at one appropriate moment when having said hello to her when just having walked in the front door. The last few days have been so doggy news unnaturally quiet it was such a relief to have Aug 16th OUR DOGS with the OD2 pull out section and we have- one judges show report- Paignton from Frank Kane, page 11 & still at Paignton a picture of Kathy Berry’s Terrier Group 4 Ch Karamynd Star Player With Ashgate page 8. Also, its getting interesting- we have more Midway Leaders OUR DOGS 2019 Top Brood Bitch- Armadales Rosebud For Karamynd and Top Dog Int/Multi Ch Tomlyndon Eager Ernest JW pages 20-21 The popularity of using a dog or cat somewhere on a TV advert continues whether it is a full personality work out or only a quick flash or as a family dog looking to be comfortably placed whilst cleaning its rear end. Each day, it seems, I see the Westie operating the family blinds to its satisfaction with its paw and wonder-
just how many blinds it has sold as it has been a regular operator for what seems ages. One of our number’s Westie regularly until he was spotted going in to the room to do it, by just sitting on the TV button placed handy for him when using the arm of a chair to climb up and turn the TV on
Before closing there was a chat call from a long term doggy friend Margaret Duckett (Foreston) I feel sure many of you will remember her- she wrote four books involving the dog scene- certainly good to hear Margaret keeps well and still has one Westie she adores and the conversation closed by her sending you all her best regards Marjorie Dickinson 01708 228658 [email protected]
WHIPPETMonday we saw Breezy Bournemouth and the results were as follows: Dog CC (his 7th) and BOB was Rob Wheeler’s Ch Mythic Balder Des Plaines Des Bruyeres Avec Ranveli JW (Multi Ch Julian Jari des Carmauries X Ch Suna Regens Opals Tracy). The BCC & BOS was Morris, Waddell and Mycrofts Ch Crosscop Let it Shine for Supeta JW (Ardencote Star Gazer X Ch Nothing Compares to you at Crosscop) This was Katy’s 4th CC. BPIB was Roger & Colette Perkins’ Snowleana Errol Flynn of Silkridge (CH Falconcrag Another Class X Silkridge Limelight Over Snowleana).
On to Windy Wales where I believe the weather was kinder at WKC than at home here in Cumbria - it was raining hard and blowing a hoolie here! Definitely NOT whippet weather. The rings at WKC at least were inside and out of the elements. The breed had separate judges for dogs and bitches and that must have been great to be able to get away early, especially on a Friday. The CC winners today
meant that we have not one, but 2
new whippet champions! The bitch
CC and BOB was Colette & Roger
Perkins’ Silkridge Whispering Grass
(Ch Cobyco Chance of a Lifetime X
Sakota Supermodel of Silkridge) - she
also won the reserve CC last Monday
at Bournemouth. The dog CC & BOS
was Sue Courtney’s Courtbirch Force
of Nature JW (Ch Collooney Billy
the Whizz X Spyanfly Saucy Socks at Courtbirch). Both the new champions
were home bred by their owners, and
interesting to note Colette gave Force
of Nature his 2nd CC, so I guess
there will be a couple of excellent
parties happening soon!! BPIB was
another win for Lyn Yacoby’s Cobyco
Cover Girl (Ch Falconcrag Another
Class X Ch Tylco Cobyco Paranoia).
Next weekend we move north for
Whippet Club of Scotland and SKC.
Safe travels to all.

LIQUIVITELiquid food for dogs and puppies
LIQUIVITE is a canned liquid food, in 185g and 400g sizes, made from meats, eggs and milk, plus a pre-biotic and fish oil. Many breeders find that Liquivite
is ideal as a weaning food for puppies, introducing meats into their diet, but in a familiar liquid form. Its smooth texture, with the consistency of a cream
soup, helps the young puppy easily make the transition to solids.
Go to Liquivite’s website at www.liquivite.co.uk to order the product online.
Liquivite is also available from your veterinary surgeon, and from online veterinary pharmacies.

In previous years competitions points generated by progeny for their sire and dam
have been limited to the first 4 qualifying wins of the year i.e. First 4 CCs of the year (or
first 4 Best Dog or Best Bitch awards in the case of Rare and Import Breeds). Feedback
from exhibitors, however, suggested the bar was set too low so we have responded by
increasing the number of qualifying wins to six, as set out in the new rules published
below. We are hoping this will lead to fewer instances where the tie breaker has to be
applied, or worse still, a situation where ‘no clear leader’ must be declared.
New rules:Breeds with CCs
First CC of each offspring in calendar year = 4 points.
Subsequent 5 CCs of each offspring in calendar year = 1 point per CC.
Best of Breed on any of the 6 occasions
(Only where CCs are on offer) = 1 extra point per award.
Non CC status (i.e. Rare) BreedsAt Group or General Championship Shows where breed classes are scheduled:
First Best Dog or Best Bitch In Breed awarded to each offspring
in the calendar year = 4 points.
Subsequent 5 Best Dog or Best Bitch In Breed awarded to each offspring in the
calendar year = 1 point per award.
Best of Breed on any of the 6 occasions = 1 extra point per award.
Import Breeds RegisterAt Group or General Championship Shows where Import classes are scheduled:
First Best Dog or Best Bitch Import of each offspring in calendar year = 4 points.
Subsequent 5 Best Dog or Best Bitch Import of each
offspring in calendar year = 1 point per award.
Best Import on any of the 6 occasions = 1 extra point per award.
In the event of a tieAt the end of the competition period a tie breaker, where applicable, will be used to
determine an outright winner in each breed as follows: The total number of points
scored by the progeny of a stud or brood in the Top Dogs table will be taken into
consideration to produce a winner. If after the tie break there are more than two
leaders, then ‘no clear winner’ will be declared.
Period of competitionPoints are calculated from relevant wins within the calendar year
(1 January to 31 December).
Final decisionNo discussions will be entered into and the decision of the
Editor in all circumstances will be final.
