Caterpillar announces an agreement with TYM International,

Continental Worldwide Pty. Ltd., Gripen Wheels AB and BBG Trading

to offer technical and warranty support for Triangle tires. TYM

International will support Western Europe, Continental Worldwide

Pty. Ltd. will support the UK, Gripen Wheels AB Southern Africa

and BBG Trading will cover Northern Africa and the Middle East.

There are two generations of the Triangle tire option. The first

generation is referred to as Gen 1 and the second generation

is referred to as Gen 2.

Regardless of the date of manufacture both generation tires are fully

supported by Triangle through TYM International, Continental

Worldwide Pty. Ltd., Gripen Wheels AB and BBG Trading.

Gen 2 Triangle Tires

Tire inflation pressures that are currently listed in the Caterpillar

Performance Handbook do not apply for Triangle tires. Instead, use

the following charts:

The first generation of Triangle tires suffered some reliability/durability

concerns on the 725/730 Articulated Trucks. These problems have

been resolved with the introduction of the second generation of tires.

The new Gen 2 Triangle tires have a June 2005 or later date code.

Model Effective Serial Numbers

725 B1L473 up

730 B1M380 up

The serial numbers on Triangle tires can be used to determine the

date of production. The second, third and fourth digits represent the

date code. The second digit is the year of manufacture. The third

and fourth digits are the month.

Example:

Serial Number 64102238401

# 4 represents the year of production, which in this case is 2004.

#10 represents the month of the year, which in this case is October.

Therefore this particular tire was produced in October 2004.

Tires that have a 506 or a greater date code are Gen 2 tires with

incorporated improvements.
