What results to expect

Individual results will vary depending on the consumer’s habits and their unique dental make-up. For some service last 3 months for others last up to a year.

Over time, and for the very same reasons that caused the teeth to discolor in the first place, the consumer will notice their teeth darkening again. When this happens, the consumer can simply repeat the procedure and the teeth will be restored back to their brilliant white color.

Consumers who smoke cigarettes or drink heavy quantities of dark, acidic liquids like: coffee, tea, red wine, colas, etc., will have to touch up their teeth more often than people who do not.

How it works

There are five elements to successful teeth whitening – peroxide, light, pressure, heat, and exposure. Research shows that a combination of these elements will produce much greater results.

Peroxide Found in virtually all dental whitening products, peroxide penetrate the tooth structure and break down stains. However, due to its degree of acidity, peroxide can burn the gums and cause tooth sensitivity. So how does Xtreme White use peroxide more safely? With the combination of light, heat, and pressure, we can use a gentle peroxide gel specifically formulated with a neutral pH. The result is whiter teeth without irritation or sensitivity.

Why the use of light?

LightThe conversion of hydrogen peroxide to hydroxide radicals can be accelerated by exposure to certain wavelengths of light. Specifically within the spectrum of 400 to 560 nanometers, the safe visible light increases the release of hydroxide radicals and accelerates the whitening process.

Xtreme white lamp use a “cool blue” cold LED light which is known as being the safest and most effective light in the industry today. This light does not emit dangerous UV rays so it is completely safe and will not cause burns or irritation.

How is pressure applied?

Pressure Without pressure peroxide has limited effectiveness. By applying mild pressure from our light guiding tray, peroxide gel is squeezed into the tooth structure which breaks down into hydroxide radicals. The hydroxide radicals deeply penetrate the tooth structure and break down the stains that have accumulated over time.

How is heat applied?

HeatHeat generated from the body combined with 400 to 560 nanometers of light helps break down peroxide gel into hydroxide radicals. The combination of light, pressure, and the body’s natural temperature of 98.6 Fahrenheit heats the peroxide gel and increases the release of hydroxide radicals.

How long does it take?

ExposureThe longer you expose your teeth to these elements the whiter your teeth will get.

But peroxide does wear out. So it is important to balance all these elements with the right exposure.

Will my fillings and crowns be affected by the

whitening?

While hydrogen or carbamide peroxide will have no negative effect on the integrity of fillings and crowns, the simple fact is that these materials will not white

Are there adverse effects?

There are relatively few side effects from tooth whitening. A very small percentage of consumers may experience some sensitivity during a whitening procedure. This discomfort, which typically goes away within 24-48 hours after discontinuing the whitening, can be minimized with a desensitizing agent like potassium nitrate, or a common, over-the-counter anti-inflammatory agent.In rare cases, some consumers may also experience irritation. This too is temporary and will go away once the whitening is stopped.
