Technical Proposal for the Level Difference of Steel Structure in 4th
and
Roof Floor Level
1.
Necessity
As per the structural steel drawings (IFC and Shop drawings) from in fourth level and in roof
Level, RHS 250x150x12.5 Box members which are outside in 3 cases are 150mm above other
members. Following are the Locations
a.
Along Grid : D1 to Grid A3 outside Grid 0.9
b.
Along Grid: E to B1 outside Grid 13
c.
Along Grid: 13 to 10 outside Grid C
2. Analysis
Upon detailed analysis it can be concluded that there are curtain wall in this locations inmajority area and in once case near Abattoir Room in fourth Floor, this area in inside the
building with block work around. These cases are classified as Case 1 and 2 respectively and the
details are enclosed. We have enclosed layout of Fourth floor with Architectural drawings and
Structural steel drawings super imposed and section of Case 1 and 2 are highlighted.
For the sake of identification, quick review and understanding of the section drawings, existing
steel members are colored blue and new steel members are colored red.
3. Basis of Proposal
This proposal is made with due respects to the design intent and no changes to the flooring
level, ceiling level and faade is required. Only structural modifications for the decking system
are made and the details are enclosed. In principle a 6 mm thick MS sheet (either Plain or
chequered) is proposed between the outer ring member HEB 240 and the inside member HEB
500 between the RHS members. Where the curtain wall is coming in order to fix the bottom
bracket for the mullion we have added another UPN 100 member to which the bracket will be
fixed with Bolts & Separation membrane
4. Related changes
The curtain wall in these locations is proposed at a distance of 100 mm outside the specified
alignment so as to ensure that the top transom is not hindered by the connection members of
steel structure.
In the 3rd
floor and 4th
floor, curtain wall W 21a and W22a respectively will not be continuous
unlike shown in the South Elevation side which can be a discrepancy in the drawing

5.
Connections
The UPN channel section is proposed to be connected to the RHS 250x150 members with cleat
angle of 200x200 welded to Box and channel from either side. The top level of the channel is
proposed flush against the Box members and MS Sheet will be above this.
