Extension of Campus at ITI, Srinagar, Garhwal

Considering the increasing intake of students, the institute extended its campus

to Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Srinagar, Garhwal. All the Administrative

Offices, Academic Departments, and Laboratories have been relocated from the

Polytechnic Campus to the ITI Campus and the extended campus have been

functioning from July 1st, 2014. The extended campus is equipped with all the

modern amenities and the departments have set up the state of the art

laboratories at the new campus. The following table lists the location of various

Invited Lecture on "Developing Leadership Skills"

Teachers’ role is often portrayed to be that of a leader since they play a crucial role in shaping the

career, values and ideals of students. To inculcate and develop such leadership skills in teachers, Dr.

Vinod Balakrishnan, Associate Professor, English, Dept. of Humanities, NIT Trichy, delivered a

lecture to the faculty members of the Institute on 7th July 2014. Most of the teachers were present

in the lecture including Dr. M.S. Khatri, Dr. Pawan K. Rakesh, Dr. Saroj Ranjan De, Dr. D.B. Singh, Dr.

RenuBhadolaDangwal, Dr. Anirban Mukherjee, Dr. Deepak K. Behera, Mr. Apurba Mondal, Mr.

Vineet P. Chandran. The enlightening session equipped the faculty members with the knowledge of

varied nuances of leadership skills and Dr. A.S. Dhundi, Dean (Academics) presented memento on

behalf of the institute to Dr. Balakrishnan in the Valedictory session.

Prof. H.T.Thorat, Hon’ble Director, Prof. V.K. Sharma, Dean (Research and Planning), Dr. A.S.

Dhundi, Dean (Academics), Dr. SarojRanjan De, Associate Dean (Academics) were present in the

seminar. Dr. Vinod Balakrishnan, Associate Professor, Dept of Humanities, NIT Trichy, attended the

seminar as a Co-supervisor in English. All the supervisors, namely, Dr. Pawan Kumar Rakesh, Dr.

M.S.Khatri, Dr. Indrajeet M Nagpure, Dr. Kuldeep Sharma, Dr. Renu Bhadola Dangwal, were present

in the seminar. Additionally, Dr. Ajay K.Chaubey, Dr. D.B. Singh, Dr. Deepak Kumar Behera, attended

the seminar as members of the Research Progress committee (RPC) for different Departments. Each

presentation was followed by detailed discussion and fruitful comments and insights for

improvement.

The Institute congratulates Mrs. Mitali Halder Paul, Assistant Professor, Department

of Computer Sciences & Engineering, for her marriage with Indrajit K. Paul on 3th

July 2014.

The Institute congratulates Dr. Bhole Shankar Sikhwal, Assistant Registrar (Stores),

for his marriage with Ms. Neema Papanai on 4th July, 2014.

Faculty Achievements

Dr. Ajay K Chaubey, Assistant Professor of English, Dept. of

Sciences& Humanities, visited Universities of the United Kingdom in

June, 2014. In Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham, he

participated in a Conference on “Dalit Writing in India” while he

attended a Symposium on the same at the University of Leicester,

Leicester. He participated and presented a paper entitled

“Narrating the History of South Asia: A Study of Select Travelogues

of V S Naipaul” in a conference on Global Connectivity and Cultural

Encounters held at York St John University, York (UK) during June

26th to 28th, 2014.

Farewell Ceremony of Prof. V.K. Sharma

Prof. Virendra K. Sharma, Professor of Electrical Engineering, who served the institute with utmost sincerity and dedication resigned from his

post for personal reasons. The farewell function was organized on July 8th, 2014 in which many of the faculty members recognized the

immense contribution of Prof. Sharma towards guiding a novice institute like NIT Uttarakhand. The Ceremony concluded with Prof. Sharma

being presented the memento by Prof. H.T. Thorat, Hon’ble Director, NIT Uttarakhand and wishing him the best for his future endeavors.

Construction of Compound Wall at Sumari

The institute is extremely glad to announce that the construction of compound wall at its permanent site, Sumari has already started

and the site development program is making rapid progress.
