For, a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world”. Perhaps this can summarize the entire goals and efforts of Techno India Group towards the initiative of making all its institutes globally renowned. The department of International Relations has successfully achieved few milestones for the group over the past two months. We were delighted by the visit of HE Dr. Sabit Subasic, Hon’ble Ambassador of Bosnia & Herzegovina to Sister Nivedita University campus and to two TIGPS campuses in north Bengal. He was greeted by the students and teachers of TIGPS Siliguri and SIT by a cultural program, portraying the diverse heritage of India. After that he visited The Retreat, the boutique hotel of the group in Darjeeling. MoU has been signed between Sarajevo School of Science & Technology and Techno India Group for the broader goal of knowledge collaboration. The MoU has been signed in the presence of Dr. Subasic and Satyam Roychowdhury, Chancellor of Sister Nivedita University on 23rd August, 2018. Techno India Group is in the final stage to sign MoU with other reputed universities of Bosnia – University of Mostar, Logos Centar, University of Sarajevo, University of East Sarajevo, ‘Dzemal Bijedic’, University of Mostar, University of Travnik and International University of Sarajevo. The process of knowledge collaboration has also been initiated with University of Valladolid in Spain for further knowledge enhancement works. We are proud to announce that MoU has been signed between Alliance Francaise du Bengale and Techno India Group to initiate French classes in schools of Techno India Group across. The agreement was witnessed by Damien Syed, Hon’ble Consul General of France and Fabrice Plancon, Director Alliance Francaise du Bengale on 19th July, 2018. French classes have been started at TIGPS Siliguri and TIGPS Jalpaiguri by Jenny Germain, the native language teacher from France. The group intends to spread this initiative to all its other schools in north and south Bengal. Young Thinkers’ Conference organized by The Dialogue in association with British Deputy High Commission and supported by Sister Nivedita University was held on 11th August, 2018. The conference highlighted the social issues in Bengal and Eastern India. The theme of the Conference was ‘West Bengal, Eastern India and The UK - Shared Prosperity for A Shared Future’. Satyam Roychowdhury, Chancellor of SNU was invited as a keynote speaker on the topic ‘Opportunities and Challenges to enhance Education & Skills in West Bengal and East India’. The conference was attended by Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, Minister of Power and Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Govt. of West Bengal, Debasish Sen, Additional Chief Secretary, Minister of IT&E, Govt. of West Bengal alongwith other dignitaries and delegates from all spheres of the society. Prof. Dr. Summauli Pyne Head - International Relations & Outreach Techno India Group Induction Program Following the AICTE mandate, the Basic Science & Humanities Department of Techno International Newtown organised an Induction Program spanning three weeks in July, 2018. This Induction Program was aimed to provide the newly admitted students a comprehensive orientation to the social, cultural and economic structures of the society we live in. Eminent personalities from diversified fields such as Physics, Cryptology, Entrepreneurship, Film criticism and Communication delivered informative and inspiring lectures. Dr. Bimal Kumar Roy, the Head of RC Bose Centre for Cryptology and Security, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and Dr. Subhrangshu Sanyal, the CEO of IIM Calcutta, Innovation Park, motivated the students with their exceptional talks on Statistical Computing and Start-up Entrepreneurship. Ranjan Bandopadhyay, Vice-President and Global Head of Human Resources for Strategic Initiatives and BPO at Tata Consultancy Services, addressed the students on the growing importance of Soft Skills in respect of modern corporate workforce. Students visited two NGOs an educational centre for underprivileged children in a slum in Topsia and a Madrassa under Momin High School in Rajabazar. In order to inspire creativity and emphasise on the need to recycle waste materials, a Junkyard Activity was organised, where the students came up with innovative projects made from discarded elements, thus showcasing their designing abilities. Sugam Agarwal of 4th year CSE received an award of distinction in the final round of the Association for Computing Machinery in the B. Tech. Project Contest 2018. National Award- winning film-maker and director Atanu Ghosh enlightened the students on the aspect of blending technology with culture, making the future technocrats aware of the impact of Digital Technology on Cinema. Students participated in a guided Yoga Session which was organised in co- operation with the Institute of Healthcare and Research, and which was preceded by a lecture given by Prasanta Sardar on the importance of practising Yoga and a Yoga Show by Raja Pal and Rony Das. NSS department of Techno International Newtown, in order to inculcate the need for cleanliness amongst the students, organised an on-campus event in accordance with Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan on 23rd July, 2018. In the face of the deepening crisis of blood in the state, the National Service Scheme Unit organised a 3-day Blood Donation Camp at College Square in June, 2018. The events witnessed wide and zestful participation from both students and members of the faculty.
