METHODOLOGY
Electronic shotfiring service is rather similar tostandard shotfiring but integrates initial blast
design focused in timing using specific tools
Getting blast plan using RIOTRONIC SW.Simple blast results modeling focused intiming.
Priming, loading, stemming the blast in astandard way with special electronic systemfeatures.
Programing, connecting and testing, according to electronic system procedure.special attention to connection, avoidingleakage, and testing, correcting errormessages
Second test from shot point. Once the blastis ready, second testing procedure has tobe performed. If remote control procedureis used, a previous communication check iscompulsory to avoid delays.
Shoot the blast, according to the standardprocedure. It is important to consider thetime for the whole procedure.

Mineral extraction activities can generate a significant environmental impact. MAXAM TAP’s EnvironmentalImpact Control Service helps mines and quarries set up a plan to monitor and control the environmental impactfrom drilling and blasting operations. In addition, MAXAM works with mines to modify drilling and blasting practices to reduce the emissions of NOx infumes, and reduce the amount of nitrogen leached into ground and surface water as a result of using explosives
APPLICATIONS
Open pit mining
Civil Infrastructure
Underground miningQuarries
BENEFITS
Reduce environmental impact.
Control and reduce blast fumes (CO, NOx, NH,H”S and other gases).
Control and reduce nitrate and ammonia inwater.
MAXAM technicians work with mine staff to set upa monitoring program for blast fumes and waterquality using the standard methodology shownbelow.
Fumes:Fumes are measured with field gas monitors andtracked. Emphasis is on tracking the amount ofNOx, CO, NH, and O. Optionally, CH, HS and othergases may also be tracked.
Water quality:Water quality upstream and downstream from themine are analyzed and tracked with portable kits, and samples can be sent to recognized labs fordetailed analysis
MAXAM technicians can further help the mine
change drilling&
blasting practices to reduce andcontrol fumes, and the impact of mine operationson the quality of ground and surface water.

MAXAM’s experienced technicians uses state-of-the-art technologies and tools and MAXAM’s globalex-pert network to design and implement long termROG operations anywhere in the world.
Each blast is designed and verified before execution. No blast related work begins without a safetyreview and a comprehensive risk assessment.MAXAM tools use field information to develop andcalibrate prediction models used to control all riskslike flyrock, vibrations, misfires or cutoffs.
ROCK-ON-GROUND (ROG) services deliver rock blasted to the required size on time. MAXAM’s Technical
Applications Group (TAP) helps customers optimize their drilling and blasting operations, bringingunparalleled transparency, cost control and improved rock output. By delegating blast planning, blastdesign, drilling, loading and blasting to MAXAM, mines and quarries convert fixed costs to variable costs. In addition, MAXAM helps mines and quarries comply with onsite regulations and control inventory ofdangerous goods onsite.

APPLICATIONS
Open pit mining
Civil works, OP and tunnelling
Underground miningQuarrying
Underwater works
BENEFITS
The shotfiring service is based on the professionalismof MAXAM personnel in charge of the execution ofthe work. Some rules covered include:
Safety
The main activity in blasting practice, Safety iscovered during shotfiring service.
Risk assessment analysis prior to blasting.
Comply with MAXAM standards in theplanning and execution of blasts.
Clearance area calculation.
Post blast analysis.
Permits
Previously to the execution, needed permits have tobe obtained.
Certified shotfirers and blasters.
Official permits to do the blast.
Blast report and certificates in official and orcustomer format.
Execution
Professionalism is the golden rule for MAXAM crewduring shotfiring service.
Knowledge of MAXAM products and blastingtechnique.
Professionalism and expertise.
Follow up of blast plan and preparing of blastreport.
Avoidance and remedial of cut-offs.
Environment
Most of the time, environmental issues have to beconsidered during shotfiring service.
Noise reduction by controlling free face andstemming
Vibration control, based in MIC (maximuminstantaneous charge) and timing, accordingto the blast plan.
Fumes avoidance, performing the loadingaccording to right procedure mainly in thepresence of water.
Leaching avoidance, by elimination ofexplosives spillage.
EQUIPMENT
Equipment used during shotfiring service is dividedbetween; loading equipment (in Bulk operations,MMUs and cassettes) and firing equipment (blastingmachines, stand alone or remote ones).

METHODOLOGY
Shotfiring service is performed in different steps, covering the needs of the customer.
Definition of blast plan according to blastdesign
Risk Assessment execution with thecustomer representative and corrections ofdangerous items
Priming, loading –according to blast plan, indicating changes-, stemming –controllinglength-, and tie up –according to timingplan.
Clearance area execution according tocalculations.
Check the blast in order to detect cut-offsand, eventually, remediation of them.
Evaluation of blast results.
Blast report preparation and sign off.
The documentation generated during shotfiring
service is the proof of the work done, measuringthe results of the blast in several ways:
Explosive and initiation systems used, typeand quantity
Issues and special remarks during theexecution of the blast
Results obtained in terms of fragmentation, vibrations, heave, fumes, etc.
The blast report is a complete summary of shotfiring
work.
