WELCOME MESSAGES

FROM THE SANTOS TOUR DOWN UNDER The South Australian Tourism Commission, in partnership with Cycling South Australia is excited to host Trek Night Riders, as the final leg of Cycling Australia’s 2019/2020 National Criterium Series (NCS).

The collaboration is a first for the Santos Tour Down Under, which will see Australia’s best domestic elite male and female cyclists battle it out on a 1km street circuit immediately adjacent to the City of Adelaide Tour Village.

The circuit uses part of the track that will host the fourth and final stage of the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under, and the Schwalbe Classic which kicks off Men’s racing as part of the 2020 event.

A festival atmosphere is expected around the Flinders Street start/finish line with music, food, drinks and fast paced elite criterium racing with Men’s and Women’s races of up to 45 minutes each.

On track activity will commence at around 5.30pm, with an anticipated women’s race finish at around 8.30pm, before attention shifts back to the City of Adelaide Tour Village for a Village closing DJ Set by Australian artist ‘Paces’.

We thank Trek for their naming rights support in helping deliver this new initiative as another exciting element to the Santos Festival of Cycling Calendar, as part of Australia’s Greatest Cycling Race.

Hitaf Rasheed Executive Director, Events South Australia

FROM THE RACE DIRECTOR This is an exciting event for all involved. From the perspective of Cycling South Australia (CSA) it represents a major turning point and demonstrates our return to being one of the top cycling organisations in Australia. It is our first collaboration with the Santos Tour Down Under (TDU) in many years, it’s the first National Level Elite Road event held in SA outside of the TDU since The Adelaide Tour in 2015.

For our best domestic racers and their teams, it offers an opportunity to race on some of the most central streets in South Australia, during the TDU with a prime time-slot which should provide the domestic Peloton with exposure that can help catapult the awareness an interest in the teams, the series and riders to new levels.

We are incredibly grateful to the TDU and the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) for this collaboration opportunity and will work with all stakeholders to ensure the best outcome for riders, sponsors and teams. I would also like to thank Trek for their vision in supporting this event.

This will be a truly exciting event, and I look forward to seeing you and all of your teams on the start line.

Lachlan Ambrose CEO, Cycling South Australia
