RADON RADON MEASUREMENTSMEASUREMENTSWe have started with the Project of indoor
radon measurements in Montenegro. The Project is planed to be realized in approximately 1000 dwellings, 2 six-month exposure, with passive nuclear track detectors (Intercast CR 39). Till now approximately 60 % is finished. Project is realized in cooperation with Jozef Stefan Institute – Ljubljana Slovenia.

Project of decontamination location contaminated with Th 232 – source of contamination military planes jet engines.
Decontamination of Cape Arza from depleted uranium. We remove 258 DU penetrators, or 86 % of total 300* DU penetrators fired on cape Arza. (* based on NATO – UNEP official information).

Strengths
•Establishing regulatory body
•Adoption of Draft Law by Government
Weaknesses
•Slow procedures
Missing portal monitor system
•Parliament procedures pending
•Secondary legislations must be improved (17 regulations)
•Translation of existing regulations
Proposed Actions
Experience from countries who has it established
•Assistant of IAEA experts (CRO, Slovenia, Macedonia, Serbia...)•If IAEA experts are not from ex FRY
Needs
Scientific visit
•Prompt adoption
•IAEA to coordinate
•IAEA to coordinate
Strengths
• 5 member staff of regulatory body
•Education (physicist, chemistry, physic-chemistry)
Weaknesses
• still luck of staff -global economic
crises
•Education /knowledge should be improved–starting with basic level
Technical support-upgrading knowledge
Proposed Actions
1.Basic training course for permits writers and inspectors
2.Training in Slovenia or Croatia-practical skills for inspectors visit
3.Training for other authorities (police, border police)
Needs
• IAEA to coordinate as soon as possible (equipment?)
•IAEA to coordinate

missing about
control of
sources•guidance and forms for licensing and inspections
•Management skills(Information managementQuality management)
Proposed Actions
•Develop guidance
•Develop guidance
•Develop
guidance
•Trainings about management•Developing plans and tools
Needs
Comparable with similar country
Strengths
• built radioactive storage waste
•Equipped radioactive storage waste
•started with collection data
Weaknesses
•Knowledge about permit procedure for disposal according to standards
•Luck of experience
•Luck of experience in work JUST with radioactive sources
Proposed Actions
•Training in Po dgorica or ...
RAIS trough IAEA support-national project
•Common inspections in neighbour countries•Common web portal with guidance •Regional meetings for inspectors•Regional meetings for permits writer
Needs
•Experts help
Financial support from IAEA
Opportunities
New knowledge and skills trough IAEA and EC projects
Threats
Missing funds;global crises
…and ATTENTION !
