Dr. Reginald Fletcher of the USDA-Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Weslaco, Texas presented "Mapping Invasive Weeds and Their Control with Spatial Information Technologies" as part of the continuing Distinguished Lecture Series sponsored by the IEEE-Geographic Remote Sensing Society. Dr. Fletcher is a soil agronomist studying the science of utilizing plants for food, fuel, feed, and fiber.

The ACAN recommended Elizabeth City State University Bay for approval at its meeting on January 5, 2012 to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names The name Elizabeth City State University Bay has been approved for use on maps and other products of the Federal government. The name was approved officially at the meeting of the U.S. Board on Geographic Names on April 17, 2012 and was entered into the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), the nation's official geographic names repository on April 19, 2012.

The purpose of WorldMet® is to collect and distribute satellite data to customers. SeaSpace Corporation WorldMet® service is comprised of two U.S. nodes.

WorldMet® West in Poway California at SeaSpace headquarters

WorldMet® East at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU)

International nodes are currently located in Sevilla, Spain, and Daejon, Korea.

Future nodes will be located in Japan and India.
