I&C and Electrical Equipment QualificationQualification of components and systems according to national andinternational nuclear standards

We accompany you with our expertises in electrical and safety control systems qualification in your projects or perform it independently complying with your requests.

Our spectrum of services at a glance:• requirement analysis and project planning

• support and consult in selection of suitable equipment

• issuance of qualification documents

• qualification plan

- general qualification specification - equipment qualification specification (EQS) - software qualification specification (SQS)• qualification of manufacturer - quality system audit - manufacturing, processes and product audit - periodic manufacturer audit - establishing of audit documentation• performing type test - in compliance to product standards - electromagnetic compatibility - on increased environmental conditions• performing enhanced type testing according to nuclear standards - induced vibrations - ionizing radiation - on accidental conditions - radiological and thermal aging• software qualification

• analysis of operational experience

• generation of licensable documentation

For its intended use in safety related I&C and electrical systems, suitable components and equipment has to be selected by system design engineers and evidence of its suitability has to be provided complying to nuclear rules and standards.

Qualification provides evidence, according appli-cable nuclear standards, that different components including their interfaces are appropriate designed and able to operate under every relevant normal, abnormal or accidental conditions.

Our competence runs in the preparation of integrated qualification concepts and their realization: starting from the detailed analysis of the formal and technical requirements, scheduling of the qualification activities, execu-tion of the complete qualification testing up to the final suitability analysis. We also consult or actively accomplish clari-fication to the costumer, safety authority or independent assessors to finally succeed the licensing process.

Taking benefit by selecting components already qualified by use of our steadily increasing data base of generic qualified equipment.

Managing qualified life and justify suitability of the complete measurement chain engineered by use of the AUREST-Tool. A specific developed tool to manage harsh environment qualification.

Verification of I&C and electrical equipment by impact of induced vibrations

Our spectrum of services at a glance:• Verification based on experimental and calculative proof

• Provision of required documentation for type testing or certification

• Customized advisory service in selection of suitable components for special requirements

• Evaluation of installed components for new defined requirements

• Seismic margin assessment for I&C and electrical systems

For a safe and design-based operation of nuclear power plants, safety-related I&C and electrical systems have to be qualified against induced vibrations such as earthquake, shock wave, air plane crash etc. The suitability and effectiveness of these actions have to be proven by both integrity and the defined operability of the components and systems during these load cases.

We provide the required verification for your project-specific equipment and systems to indicate the sufficient design against induced vibrations.

The qualification and resulting actions are in accor-dance with all common national and international standards (e.g. KTA, IEEE, IEC, RCC-E).

We providing advice for selection of components and their mounting in terms of seismic interests.

Based on customized, plant-specific requirements, e.g. floor response spectra, we establish test sequences and specification as foundation for vibration tests. The tests are performed in long-time cooperation with accredited test laboratories. Moni-toring of the tests as well as analysis and evaluation of the results, is also part of our service.

We analyze deviations of the test set-up by calcula-tion and determine mounting forces. Supporting structures, such as the construction of enclosures, which require analysis by Finite-Element Method (FEM), are accomplished in cooperation with our partners.

Seismically qualified components for a safe operation in nuclear power plants

I&C and Electrical Equipment Qualification

Afterwards you will receive an auditable documen-tation according to nuclear standards about the test results with a final summary of qualification for presentation at the authority.

We provide an overall concept and supervision of qualification actions. Requisite suppliers, labora-tories and partner are involved and coordinated if necessary.

Long-standing experience in seismic verificationAs key distributor in the nuclear field with worldwide clients, AREVA provides many years of profound knowledge in I&C and electrical systems and their qualification.

For many components and equipment existing generic qualification or qualification from other plants can be used.

Separate vibration tests can often avoid extra costs during design phase.
