Hymn of the Week: LSB 508 “The Day Is Surely Drawing
Near”
The day is surely drawing near
When Jesus, God’s anointed,
In all His power shall appear
As judge whom God appointed.
Then fright shall banish idle mirth,
And flames on flames shall ravage earth
As Scripture long has warned us.
Bible Verse 5For there is one God, and there is one mediator
between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
1 Timothy 2:5 (ESV)
Catechism
K-2: The Second Article – Redemption – “And in Jesus
Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the
Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into
hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended
into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Al-
mighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and
the dead.”
3-8: The Second Article and Meaning – Redemption – “And
in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived
by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under
Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He de-
scended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the
Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the
living and the dead. What does this mean? I believe that Je-
sus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and
also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has
redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and
won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the
devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious
blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may
be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve
Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness,
just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eterni-
ty. This is most certainly true.”

A-TeaM Volleyball
This year’s A-team volleyball season was awe-
some. We had a record of 7-2, only losing 2
games. We took 3rd place in the season and 4th
place in the A-team tournament. All of the A-team
connected as a team and were very close friends
with many jokes amongst each other. Before every
game, we all
signed a vol-
leyball, (which
we called the
spirit ball) with
our name, number and our power word of encouragement.
After the game we would then put on the ball who we
played, the date, and whether we won or lost. At the end
of the season, each of the 8th grade girls took home a spir-
it ball. By :

C-TeaM Volleyball Our C-team had a very good season and we
have improved a lot. We did very well in our tourna-
ment, placing 5th after a hard battle. We all had a
really fun time playing volleyball this year. We
would like to thank our coaches—Lori Bronenkant
and Angie Jung - who taught us the basics of volley-
ball! By Emma Voelker, Leah Bronenkant, Claire Koeberl, Elise Roth and

B-TeaM Volleyball
The EPC Wildcats volleyball B-team girls had a great season.
We finished 2-5. We learned a lot and had fun out on the
court. Every play, we encouraged each other with a high five.
We participated in an in-
vitational tournament at
Immaculate Conception.
We worked very hard
with only six players eve-
ry day. We also partici-
pated in a B-team tourna-
ment at APS. Our coach,
Amy Ussery, was amaz-
ing. She taught us a lot
and was a great coach.

A Note From the Principal………….. Safety Matters
We have had some amazing weather lately. Not too cold (except for a couple of frosty mornings), not
too warm, and quite a bit of sunshine (maybe not quite enough rain).
But if you look at your calendar, (we are in November) two years ago our first snow was the beginning
of December, and so it is time to think about the chance of inclement weather. This year you will actually have two ways to find
out if we are closing school due to the weather. The first way is the old way: it will be listed on KFVS12. They are always my
first phone call when we decide to close school, and typically, thanks to their automated system, within a minute it is posted to
their sites.
You can also find out about school closings through our Fast Direct program. You will receive a text of email from
“Urgent.” If we are in school and sending students home, the message will ask you to contact school to let us know to whom we
should dismiss your child. This contact can be made via phone call or email (regular or fast-direct). If we do not hear from you
after a reasonable amount of time, we will begin making calls to ensure you have received the message and to find out your plan
for your child. If school is closed in the morning before we open the message will simply read, “School is closed.”
At any time when there is inclement weather, if we have school and you feel it is not safe to drive to school, your drive-
way is too treacherous or your tires not fit for the conditions, please stay at home and be safe. In such a case, please contact the
office and let us know of your decision. Your safety and the safety of your child matters most. If you have any other questions
or concerns about how the process works, please contact the school office.
I also would like to remind you that in the morning when your child is being dropped off, it is safest to drop them right in
front of the portico. When there is a line of cars or when the bus is dropping off, please have your child wait before disembark-
ing from the vehicle, unless if an adult is walking them into the building. In the afternoon, all cars should be picking up at the
side entrance. Even if there is a line, it is the safest way for children to leave the building. The front parking lot should be re-
served for children who are loading onto the bus, walking home, or riding bicycles.
The safety of all the children, staff and parents is of utmost concern to me. I greatly appreciate your assistance in helping
keep everyone safe .

Chapel Offerings this
year:Heifer International
The students’ chapel offerings for the remainder of this
year will be going to Heifer International. The following has been
taken from their website at http://www.heifer.org/about-heifer/
index.html
“Heifer International is a nonprofit, humanitarian organization
dedicated to ending hunger and poverty and caring for the Earth.
Heifer currently provides livestock, trees, seeds and training in
environmentally sound agriculture to families in 30 countries, in-
cluding the United States. We work with smallholder farming
families and communities because we believe they are key to
feeding us all.
Since 1944, we have helped more than 22.6 million families, in
more than 125 countries. One of the most important aspects of our
model is building the capacity of project groups to envision, plan
and manage their own futures. We monitor project data, track our
progress and then evaluate our overall impact. These evaluations
ensure that our work to place livestock and pass on knowledge
and training in sustainable farming practices will benefit commu-
nities for generations. By 2020, we aim to end hunger and poverty
for 4 million families in the communities where we work . “

The evening will feature a meal, catered by The Gordonville Grill, ,
Tickets are $15, and will be available through the Saxony office

(Because this show requires an exact count, tickets must be paid for
to be held.)
The school office is able to take a credit card over the phone, or
tickets may be purchased in person. Cast and crew members could
also take care of this for you, so don't hesitate to ask! Tickets will
be table-specific, so buy yours early! The evening promises to be
very entertaining!
Scrip and Black Friday
Believe it or not, Black Friday will be here in less
than a month, and many have already started their Christmas
shopping. Consider using scrip for your shopping this holi-
day season and make a gift to the school at no-expense to
you. Many of the popular Black Friday stores (Wal-mart,
Target, Lowes etc) have ScripNOW that can be printed the
very day you order it.
Another order will go out in early December—if you
need cards for Christmas gifts, be sure and place an order!
Call Sarah B. in the office for order forms and more
information. Parents, a scrip order form and list was includ-
ed in your folder on registration day, or I will be happy to
send you another!
