Vicky the VikingOriginal Title: Wickie und die starken MännerCountry of Origin: GermanyYear: 2009Director: Michael HerbigRunning Time: 85 MinutesLanguage: German

What is the film about?

Vicky is a Viking who lives with his parents Halvar and Ylva in a small village called Flake. Unlike most of the Vikings in the village he is not strong and fearless but sensitive and clever. Vicky’s father, Halvar, head of the Viking clan is disappointed in him because is not like other Vikings. Ylva pleads with her husband to be more understanding but the only person who seems to understand him is his best friend Elvy.

One day, Flake is raided by mysterious Vikings and all the children except Vicky are kidnapped. The villagers soon discover that Sven the Terrible has captured the children, so Halvar and his tribe set off on an adventure to rescue them. He forbids Vicky to come along but the boy manages to sneak on board his father’s ship before it leaves.

During their adventure the Vikings raid an abandoned ship and find a mysterious girl called Lee Fu who helps find the kidnapped children by revealing the location of Sven’s island. In the end, Vicky saves the day with a cunning plan involving a flying ship and a zip wire that helps to rescue the children. Halvar is very grateful to Vicky and his clever ideas. Reunited, the villagers and their children set off back home.

Release
