Introduction Core Course 2 expands on the skills acquired in Core Course 1. Students are introduced to a wider range of vocabulary and key expressions. They continue to learn listening and speaking through practice and repetition. In this level, students build upon the alphabet knowledge learned in Core Course 1 by learning phonics where they begin to write and read.

How To Use This Guide

Lesson Overview lists the basic instruction and goal of each section. Blue text indicates the instructions from the textbook.

Textbook Activity

Textbook Page

Procedure lists detailed instructions for teaching each section. Each step is indicated with a number.

Gray text indicates instructions for the teacher to follow. [Bracketed gray text] indicates website instructions. Black text explains procedures for students to

follow. Ex: Click [start with image] Look and say the word Click [speaker]

Listen and repeat Click [play] for the next flashcard In the above instruction, the teacher would click on the [start with image] button and then students would look at the image and say the word. Then the teacher would click the [speaker] button, and students would listen and repeat. The teacher would then click the [play] button to

go to the next flashcard.

Colored text indicates participation activities suggested in Appendix 1:

Participation Procedures. TEAM activities are indicated in green text, PARTNER activities in blue, and ROUND ROBIN in yellow-green. Appendix

references are listed in purple, and important teacher notes are listed in red.
