In Kerala, it is the festival celebrated with most number of cultural elements and is reminiscent of Kerala's agrarian past, as it is considered to be a harvest festival. 'Ponnavani', the Onam celebrations at AIM, was inaugurated by Dr. V. S. Sadanandan, Vice-Principal, St. Albert's College, by lighting the traditional lamp. He said that the Onam is the most sensitive emotion of each and every Malayali and they celebrate it with joy and pleasure. Onam celebrations in educational institutions has become more attractive with many cultural events, but at times it goes beyond control, he said. Dr.Titus Correya, Vice- Principal (SF) greeted the students and told them to imbibe the good messages conveyed by Onam. Dr. Rajagopala Nair, Director, AIM, in his welcome address, expressed his apprehensions, whether the people have risen to such a level to bring back the good days of Mahabali. Onam celebrations has become a season of enjoyment for the students without upholding the traditional values, he said. The first semester MBA students took initiative to organize the celebrations with Onam Pattu and Thiruvathira Kali. Onam Songs by the students, by Mrs. Shiny C. M. and Mr. Peter Afraini was really a feast for ears. Malayali Maran and Malayali Manka competition was held, in which Mr. Seyyid Faiz and Miss Emimol respectively emerged victorious. Vadamvali and musical chair competitions were organised for the students. The major attraction of this years' celebration was the Shinkari Mela, in which the students dance to the tune. The celebrations were concluded with a sumptuous Onam Sadya. They expressed their love, affection and gratitude towards their beloved Teachers. 'Fides', the Finance Club @ AIM ' F ides', the Finance Club of the Albertian Institute of Management was inaugurated by Mr. Pranab Kumar Das IRS, Director General of Income Tax investigation and the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, on 22nd Sept. 2016. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Das revealed that umpteen number of career opportunities are now available for those students who opted for Financial Management. Indian financial sector is so vibrant and challenging that there is dearth of skillful people. During our young ages management studies are lost sight of and science subjects were in great demand, he said. But today, the whole scenario has changed and globalization has created greater opportunities for the management students. Dr. M. L. Joseph, Principal, St. Albert's College, in his presidential address stressed the need to become a expert in finance. Each and every person, including a home maker women in Mr. Pranab Kumar Das IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax is inaugurating the Finance Club Mega Quiz on Finance and Accounting @ Fides ' F ides', the Finance Club of AIM organized a 'Mega Quiz on Finance and Accounting' for the Final year B.Com and BBA students of affiliated colleges on 26 th Sept. 2016. Thirty Nine teams participated and the best six teams qualified for the final round of oral quiz. In a thrilling final round, Linson Francis and Ken Christopher of St. Albert's College, bagged the first prize of Rs. 10,000 and Tony Jude and Bharathan Syam of the same college secured second prize of Rs. 5,000. The prize money was sponsored by Star-K Certification inc, USA. Mr. Jayakumar P.G, MD & CEO, Gosree Finance Ltd distributed the prizes in the presence of Mr. Alexander Kurian, Director, Gosree Finace Ltd. engaged in financial management, he said. Dr. Rajagopala Nair offered felicitations.

Onam, the State festival of Kerala, is being celebratedat the Albertian Institute of Management on 9th Sept.

'Royal Bazare', the marketing club of AIM wasinaugurated by Mr. Francis Paul Kandamkulathy.

Explaining the practical aspects of marketing, Mr. Francissaid that an MBA in marketing in only an ornamentaldegree unless the students learn the ground level realitiesof marketing. The students should come out of their classrooms and try to sell 'pin' to 'piano' in the market andthat will be a real time experience. He told the studentsthe pains taken by him to learn and practice marketing byvisiting even a fish market. Mr. Aravindakshan Kavikkal,DGM, KSIDC, during his inaugural address, invited thestudents to come out with novel business ideas and

funding is not an issue. He explained the students the roleof KSIDC in developing entrepreneurship among thepeople of State of Kerala especially among the studentcommunity. The various schemes launched by KSIDC innurturing the industrial environment of the State wasdiscussed during his session. Dr. M. L.
