2. How to access Moodle?
After successfully logging in using the User ID and password sent to you by your School
Administrator, you will see the “Moodle” in the menu. Clicking on it you will see the below page
with a button “Go To Moodle”.
Clicking on this button will take you to Moodle without the need to enter the User ID and pwd
again. OpenSIS is integrated to Moodle and uses the single sign-on to authenticate inside the
Moodle.
Moodle is a learning platform designed to provide educators, administrators and learners with a
single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalized learning environments.
Moodle is an Open Source Software used my many educational institutions from Kinder Garden
to post graduate by many school districts and universities all over the world.
OpenSIS is a complete Student Management and School Management system. Schools
Admins, Teachers, Students and Parents get access to it.
OpenSIS is primarily used for Student Master and their current academic year enrolled Nilai.
Every Teacher, Admin and Parents get access to it.

OpenSIS and Moodle – How they are integrated:
OpenSIS is seamlessly integrated to Moodle. Here is the bi-directional mapping and ATA is
using Moodle to deploy all the eLearning content like Nilai4 to 7 HW as Quizzes, Mazhalai to
Nilai3 as interactive content, Audio comprehension exercises and also Teachers will access
their Teacher Training content there.
All the users access is created only in OpenSIS and no one get access directly to Moodle.
Moodle access will always work only via OpenSIS single sign-on.
Key fields of OpenSIS/Moodle in relation to ATA.
Users – School Admins, Teachers, Students & Parents. Each type of user get unique role
assigned in OpenSIS.
Schedules – Managed only in OpenSIS via Calendar for the specific schools and it is unique to
the schools
Subjects – ATA Nilai from Mazhalai to Nilai7
OpenSIS Course Periods combines the Teachers, Students & Nilai (subject) for each classroom
of individual Schools. Moodle provision the access based on the Nilai(Subject) assignment from
OpenSIS.
Teachers can access only their students as “participants” in Moodle. Students can access only
their Nilai content in Moodle.

4. How to create Moodle Quizzes every week?
Teachers can access their courses taught by them under the “My Courses”. In this below
example, the course taught by this Nilai5 Teacher is named as “MNTS_N5”.
Clicking on “MNTS_N5” will show “25 Topics” which is equal to 25 lessons of ATA Syllabus for
each Nilai.
Clicking on the “Participants” under “MNTS_N5” will show all students under this teacher.

Before adding the Quizzes to the students, the Teacher should clik on the “Turn editing on”
button at the top right of the screen as below:
Clicking on the “Add an activity or resource” and then click “Quiz” to “Add”.

It is mandatory to provide a name of the quiz.
Scroll all the way down to “Save” the Quiz.

5. Adding the quizzes from Question Bank
After creating the quiz, you should add the questions from the “Question Bank”
Click on the “Edit quiz” button

Under the “Question bank”, Select a category drop down.
Note: Every Teacher could see all the Nilai Quizzes and required quizzes to be chosen based on your Nilai.
The below example first week of Nilai5 HW is split into 5 like in the HW. Each Week HW is 5 parts like Monday to Friday.
Tips: Create the weekly quizzes into 5 parts like Monday to Friday. This will make each quiz with not more than 4 questions to attempt in one sequence.

To select the questions, check the boxes and then click on “Add to Quiz” button
6. Testing the Quiz, Grading, Override features
To apportion the required marks, you could use the below highlighted boxes.
Consider every week as 100 marks and apportion the marks for each.

Before the students view the quizzes, the Teachers could test the quiz by clicking
on the quiz.
Note: When you create a new quiz it automatically assigned to your students
Tip: To type in Tamil we recommend the URL http://tamil.changathi.com
This link is available in the world wide web without the need for any installed
software or no need to be in gmail input either.
You may type Tamil from your home, work, school and like Library computers. It
will also work in all the tablets in a web browser.
For example to type வாங்கினேன் you will type in English as “vaanginen” For வாங்குனவன் type as “vaanguven”

This shows the example, where the student will type the Tamil typing from
http://tamil.changathi.com and copy and paste into the moodle quiz below.
When you want to assign particular quizzes to specific students, you have to use
“User Overrides” option. After creating the quiz, it automatically assigned to all
your students. To assign quizzes to particular students, create the quiz and follow
the below method

Click on the “Add user override” button:

7. How to set the number of attempts for the students for each quiz?
When creating the quiz, please select the “Attempt allowed “as you wanted (ex. If you
want the student to attempt the quiz 3 times before she got the correct answer then choose
“Attempt allowed “as 3.
8. How can the student see their attempt-review and viewing the last entered
answers on Re-Attempt?
When creating the quiz, please select the “Each attempt builds on the last” as “Yes”.

2. Any Technical issues with DB error or dumps, send an email to [email protected] OR
3. Any process related questions and practical issues when using Moodle like ATA-LMS
does not meet your school practices, you need to send your comments and question to
your School Admin and they will contact the ATA Super Admins for clarification or any
changes to the process within the ATA-LMS system
