Attaching file submissions onto an assignment in IC
Teacher Instructions
In IC – teachers have the option to attach files to an assignment and allow students to submit
assignment files through the IC Portal on any assignment that is created in the gradebook.
Teachers
Under Instruction Assignments
Click on an existing assignment or click Create Assignment

If you want your students to submit a file to
you for this assignment:
Click Enable Student Submission
Check Editor
Check Enable student submission
Note: Students can submit up to 5 files per
assignment.
If you leave the None option selected,
students will not be able to submit files for
this assignment, but students could still view
any files that the teacher attached above.
Click show
Recommend to include
some information about
the assignment here
and/or direct students
to your website URL.
Click Attach Resource.
You can attach up to 5
files per assignment that
a student would be able
to download and view.
See the Appendix for
the file types allowed.
Video files are not
supported at this time.

Note: If the software used
to create the file is not
available to the student, it
will not be able to be
viewed.
Click Save when done

Click Agree on the Acceptable Use Policy
Type in a name (can be
anything)
Click Choose file and select
your file from the file menu
that opens.
Teacher can submit up to 5
files per assignment. Each
file can be up to maximum
30MB.
Click Next
Teacher files uploaded
will be listed here.
Click on the X on the left
side to delete the file.

To view and/or grade student file submissions
Under Instruction Assignments
Click the scoring icon for the particular assignment
Click the date to view any
student file submission(s).
See page 6.
Indicates the student has
left a comment for the
teacher.
Indicates the teacher has
left a comment for the
student.

Click the blue file links to open and view the student file
submission(s).
Note to teachers: After you open a file link below – you
can not re-attach the individual file back to the student
with corrections on it through the portal.
Enter the assignment grade
here or through the gradebook.
Teacher can enter comments and/or feedback here
CLICK SAVE WHEN DONE

Student Instructions
This feature is ONLY available if your teacher tells you that its available for a
particular homework assignment. Any questions, please ask your teacher.

Student Instructions
Students log into the IC Portal using the same username and password to access the computer network.
https://ic.wpcsd.k12.ny.us/campus/portal/wp.jsp
Click on Grades on the left menu
Click on the course name
Click on the assignment name link

Teacher files will
be listed here.
Click to open.
Complete the assignment per the
teacher’s instructions.
Then click File Save As
Name your file in this format:
First Name Last Name – class name – period
Example
John Doe – Social Studies 6 – per 5
Remember where you saved your file.

Student
Submitting file(s) for an assignment
Click Agree on the Acceptable Use Policy
Click Attach file
Type in: First Name Last Name – class name – period
Click Browse and select the file from the
file menu that opens. Remember where
you saved your files from page 3.
Students can submit up to 5 files per
assignment. Each file can be up to
maximum 30MB.
Click Next
