The TYAUSA and AATEs National Middle School 10- minute Playwriting Contest

Students in grade 6-8 are invited to write an original play following the theme What do you want to change about the world Plays may not exceed six characters and must be not longer that 10 minutes when read aloud

Plays must be submitted to the Yocum Institute by January 25 2016

Middle School Playwrights Workshop at the Yocum Inst ituteBeverly Houck and Guest Artists January 11 February 4 (not a typo) Write a game show or soap opera or zombie apocalypse play make all the characters leaves on a tree or bring an alien from another planet into the scene Use your imagination to create an entertaining thought provoking theatrical short play Asking the question what do you want to change about the world Final works will have the option to be submitted for judging for entry into a national competit ion All will be presented as a staged reading performed by members of the Yocum Drama Club Junior Ensemble and or Teen Ensemble to an audience of friends and family on Thursday February 4 at 6pm Monday amp Friday f rom 5-7pm (111 wil l be 5-6pm) $45 ($35 members) 7 classes plus performance

Several Wilson West students submitted their artwork to the Lions Club Peace Poster contest

Nature of Nolde Art Contest

Samantha Singleton captured the beauty of the Nolde Forest and submitted her photograph to the Nature of Nolde Art contest She has been selected as a f inalist for this contest

ENRICHMENT ON THE WEEKEND

Eurof ins Lancaster Laboratories Visit

Jut over 30 students across the district traveled to the Eurof ins Lancaster Laboratories on Saturday November 7th to discover the wonderful world of chemistry At the lab students viewed many interesting experiments before diving in and using their hands to investigate chemistry This event was organized by the Wilson Gifted Education Network

Game Over (December 1 2015 through March 11 2016)

While many video game exhibit ions have focused on the graphicdesign nature of gaming Game Over will focus more on the narrative storytell ing aspects of the industry The exhibit ion is co-curated by Erin Riley-Lopez curator of the Freedman Gallery and Eammon Kiyomura

EVENTS AT ALBRIGHT (cont inued) Albright Col lege and Berks Opera Company to Present Amahl and the Night Visitors

Albright Colleges choral ensembles the Albright Angels and Mane Men in collaboration with the Berks Opera Company of Reading will present a concert version of Amahl and the Night Visitors Dec 5 and 6 in Albrights Memorial Chapel This classic holiday opera by Gian Carlo Menotti is set on a cold winters night in the litt le town of Bethlehem A crippled shepherd boy named Amahl and his mother are visited by three majestic wise men who have traveled from afar to offer precious gif ts to the Christ child With nothing else to offer Amahl hands his crutch to the kings as a gif t for the newborn babe The young lads self less act has a miraculous consequence

Albright Col leges Center for the Arts to Present A Christmas Carol A Live Radio Play

Albright Colleges Center for the Arts and the Brickhouse Theater Co of Wernersville Pa will collaborate for the stage version of A Christmas Carol A Live Radio Play Dec 18 to 20 in Albrights Wachovia Theatre This holiday classic is directed by Mark Flannery and presented in association with Playscripts Inc Adapted by Joe Landry from the novel by Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol A Live Radio Play takes place on Christmas Eve Set inside a 1940s radio station a small ensemble of actors work together to create a live broadcast of Dickens timeless and powerful story of the healing power of redemption to a troubled nation God Bless Us Everyone

Eurof ins Lancaster Laboratories Visit

Jut over 30 students across the district traveled to the Eurof ins Lancaster Laboratories on Saturday November 7th to discover the wonderful world of chemistry At the lab students viewed many interesting experiments before diving in and using their hands to investigate chemistry This event was organized by the Wilson Gifted Education Network

While many video game exhibit ions have focused on the graphicdesign nature of gaming Game Over will focus more on the narrative storytell ing aspects of the industry The exhibit ion is co-curated by Erin Riley-Lopez curator of the Freedman Gallery and Eammon Kiyomura

Albright Colleges choral ensembles the Albright Angels and Mane Men in collaboration with the Berks Opera Company of Reading will present a concert version of Amahl and the Night Visitors Dec 5 and 6 in Albrights Memorial Chapel This classic holiday opera by Gian Carlo Menotti is set on a cold winters night in the litt le town of Bethlehem A crippled shepherd boy named Amahl and his mother are visited by three majestic wise men who have traveled from afar to offer precious gif ts to the Christ child With nothing else to offer Amahl hands his crutch to the kings as a gif t for the newborn babe The young lads self less act has a miraculous consequence

Albright Colleges Center for the Arts and the Brickhouse Theater Co of Wernersville Pa will collaborate for the stage version of A Christmas Carol A Live Radio Play Dec 18 to 20 in Albrights Wachovia Theatre This holiday classic is directed by Mark Flannery and presented in association with Playscripts Inc Adapted by Joe Landry from the novel by Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol A Live Radio Play takes place on Christmas Eve Set inside a 1940s radio station a small ensemble of actors work together to create a live broadcast of Dickens timeless and powerful story of the healing power of redemption to a troubled nation God Bless Us Everyone

EVENTS AT ALBRIGHT (cont inued) Albright Col lege and Berks Opera Company to Present Amahl and the Night Visitors

Albright Colleges choral ensembles the Albright Angels and Mane Men in collaboration with the Berks Opera Company of Reading will present a concert version of Amahl and the Night Visitors Dec 5 and 6 in Albrights Memorial Chapel This classic holiday opera by Gian Carlo Menotti is set on a cold winters night in the litt le town of Bethlehem A crippled shepherd boy named Amahl and his mother are visited by three majestic wise men who have traveled from afar to offer precious gif ts to the Christ child With nothing else to offer Amahl hands his crutch to the kings as a gif t for the newborn babe The young lads self less act has a miraculous consequence

Albright Col leges Center for the Arts to Present A Christmas Carol A Live Radio Play

Albright Colleges Center for the Arts and the Brickhouse Theater Co of Wernersville Pa will collaborate for the stage version of A Christmas Carol A Live Radio Play Dec 18 to 20 in Albrights Wachovia Theatre This holiday classic is directed by Mark Flannery and presented in association with Playscripts Inc Adapted by Joe Landry from the novel by Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol A Live Radio Play takes place on Christmas Eve Set inside a 1940s radio station a small ensemble of actors work together to create a live broadcast of Dickens timeless and powerful story of the healing power of redemption to a troubled nation God Bless Us Everyone

Nov 22 The Albright String Chamber Orchestra amp Big Cat Jazz Ensemble will present two mini-concerts at 3 pm The String Chamber Orchestra conducted by John Pankratz PhD Albright professor of history will present pieces by JS Bach The Big Cat Jazz Ensemble will be conducted by Mike Eben Albright adjunct faculty member in music
