Tea Campaign Update

Volunteers visit the Tea Gardens

• The Legal Advocacy Group and an IIM group undertook field visit to the tea garden area in North Bengal (Jalpaiguri) as part of a fact finding mission.

• The Legal Advocacy Group stayed with the workers’ families in the gardens.

• Two articles on the tea crisis written by volunteers

• One article published in the Times of India

• Posters and bookmarks designed by volunteers

Communication Group

• Communication group ready with a street play. Direction and Script writing by volunteer.

Legal Advocacy Group

• 15 members (law students) part of the group.

• Objective of the group is to take a critical look at violation of the rights of tea garden workers (particularly the violation on the minimum wage legislation by the employers)
