Governor, A&N Islands, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi visited the Directorate of Disaster Management, situated at Link Road here this evening. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Anindo Majumdar, Secretary, IP, Dr. A. K. Singla and senior officers of the Administration were also present during this visit. The Lt. Governor visited the Situation Room / Conference Hall, where the Director, Disaster Management, Shri Ashok Sharma, through a power point presentation, briefed the Lt. Governor about 'Vulnerability profile and Disaster preparedness in A&N Islands', on how Tsunami occurs, Role of Disaster Management, Institutional Mechanism (Disaster Management in India), Functions of Emergency Operation Centers, role/activities of Incidence Response Team besides general activities to be initiated at the UT level during occurrence of any disaster. The Lt. Governor also visited the State Control Room where he was apprised about the functioning of various equipments viz. Electronic Display Board, Lt. Governor visits Disaster Management Department Directs for ensuring proper functioning of all equipments VHF sets, Satellite phones, Hotlines and communication process. The Lt. Governor also directed the Director, Disaster Management to ensure that all the equipments set up for the purpose of Disaster Management function properly. Earlier, the Lt. Governor was also briefed about the 'Information, Education & Communication' materials published by the Directorate of Disaster Management, which are being disseminated to schools, general public and Govt. Departments. New Delhi, Oct 5 The Cabinet has approved amendments to the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Bill, 2014. The Bill seeks to safeguard rights of HIV-affected people, as well as to prevent and control spread of HIV and AIDS. The Bill also aims to enhance access to health care services by ensuring informed consent and confidentiality for HIV- related testing, treatment and clinical research. The provisions of the Bill seek to address HIV-related discrimination, strengthen the existing programme by bringing in legal accountability and establish formal mechanisms for inquiring into complaints and redressing grievances. It makes provision for appointment of an ombudsman by State Governments to inquire into complaints related to the violation of the Act and penal actions in case of non-compliance. Every HIV infected or affected person below the age of 18 years has the Cabinet approves amendment bill related to HIV/AIDS right to reside in a shared household and enjoy the facilities of the household. The Bill also prohibits any individual from publishing information or advocating feelings of hatred against HIV positive persons and those living with them. It also provides for Guardianship for minors. There are approximately 21 lakh persons estimated to be living with HIV in India. Even though the prevalence of HIV is decreasing over the last decade, the Bill will provide Port Blair, Oct. 5 The Port Blair Municipal Council, in association with All India Institute of Self Government, Mumbai empanelled by Ministry of Urban Development organized a three day Capacity Building programme under 'AMRUT' from Oct. 3 to 5 at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Auditorium of the Council. While addressing the trainees as the chief guest in the valedictory function, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri. Anindo Majumdar appreciated the efforts made by the Port Blair Municipal Council and advised that an exposure visit of few officers and elected members may be planned and the information gathered during the training may be realized by viewing the best practices carried out at various cities. The Chief Secretary further stated that this capacity building programme has a special significance due to the participation of officers and elected members which, he said, will pave the way for better development of the city. In his welcome address, the Secretary, PBMC, Shri. Yashpal Garg briefed about the contents and curriculum of the capacity building programme. Capacity building programme under 'AMRUT' concludes CBSE directs schools to disclose fee structure New Delhi, Oct 5 Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) has made it mandatory for school managements to disclose their fee structure and other facilities in the public domain. As per the circular, CBSE has asked the schools to submit a report to the board by 31st of this month. All schools have been also asked to disclose the information on the CBSE's website and also upload the data on their websites. It said, this will ensure that all the information pertaining to the institution school, which is to be provided by the schools for seeking affiliation with the board, is available in public domain.
