TD312Hokanson Calculating Cuff Inflator

The Hokanson TD312 is a hand held cuff inflating device with an onboard calculator forfiguring important segmental indices (ratios) like the ABI. Pressure is displayed in mmHgon the front digital pressure screen.

DIGITAL PRESSURE SCREEN

Displays mmHg from 0-340 Also will show arrow whenTD312 is in memory or slowinflation mode.

The user can store up to 12 pressures that can be recalled for ratio calculations. The 12locations are numbered 1 – 12 and labeled for different limb sites. Please see the tablebelow for a description of all labels and functions for each button.

Inflating and deflating is controlled by a thumbwheel which is pushed upwards to inflateand down in the opposite direction to deflate. To the left of the thumbwheel are two

functional keys. The divide symbol and equal symbol. You will use these two buttonswhen calculating ratios. To the right of the thumbwheel are an additional two buttons, thememory/cuff button which is used to recall all stored pressures and the battery checkbutton. When in memory mode an arrow will appear in the upper right hand corner of thedigital pressure screen to signal that you are in memory mode and can now recallpressures and calculate ratios. When cuff mode is initiated the arrow will disappear andnow the user and TD312 can begin taking and storing additional pressures.

The button below the memory/cuff is the battery check button which can be used tocheck the voltage remaining in the TD312’s rechargeable NiCad batteries.

While the TD312 can store up to 12 pressures internally it also functions as a remotecontrol for our CVS4 vascular system. The store button can store and transmit data viaRadio frequency.

STORE BUTTON

The store button will storepressures in the memory spacesof the TD312 as well as transmitpressure data via RF to thecomputer software interface.

How to Use the TD312

How to inflate using the TD312?1. You can inflate your vascular cuff by gently rolling up on the thumbwheel.

Conversely you may deflate the cuff by rolling the thumbwheel down.Note: Inflating and Deflating is a rather easy function but does takepractice to control.

2. Tip: To inflate at a slower pace press the divide symbol then the storebutton to put the TD312 in slow inflation mode. When this is donecorrectly you will notice a blinking arrow in the upper right hand corner ofthe digital pressure screen.Tip: To deflate at slow rate practice moving the thumbwheel down gentlyand slightly. Pay attention to the digital pressure screen and watch thedeflation rate. A steady hand and practice is all that is needed.

How to store pressures with the TD312?1. The first thing to do is make sure the TD312 is in cuff mode. To do this

press the mem/cuff button to the right of the thumbwheel. Make surethere is not a static arrow in the upper left hand corner of the digitalpressure screen. If there is a static arrow press the mem/cuff button againto remove it. Once the arrow is gone you are ready to start storing. Note:If there is a blinking arrow present it is ok. This just means you are in slowinflation mode and you still can store pressures in this function.

2. Before inflating choose which key/space you would like to store apressure in. (For e.g. #1) Press the number 1 key before inflating. Makesure you hear a beep. After the beep begin to inflate. Once you have

attained the desired pressure press the Store button. This will store thepressure in the box labeled #1. You can do this for all 12 sites. Just makesure to choose the site by pressing the button before you inflate. Note:you may overwrite existing pressures just by storing over old pressures. There is no need to erase pressures beforehand.

How to recall pressures and calculate different indices?1. To recall pressures you have stored press the mem/cuff button so the

static arrow appears in the top left hand corner of the digital pressurescreen. Now click on the button where you saved the pressure you aretrying to recall. The pressure will appear in the pressure screen.

2. To calculate ratios again make sure you are in memory mode. (Static

arrow will appear in the top left hand corner of the pressure screen)Simply press the button where the first pressure is stored, then press thedivide symbol, then press the button where the second pressure is store, then press the equal button. Your ratio will appear in the pressurescreen.

How to initiate slow inflation mode?1. Press the divide button then press the store button. A blinking arrow will

appear in the upper left hand corner of the pressure screen. You will notbe in slow inflate mode.

How to clear the pressure register?1. Press the equal button then the store button. This will clear and zero all

previously stored pressures.

How to recall pressures?1. Press the mem/cuff button until the static arrow appears at the upper left

hand corner of the screen. Then you can go through each site (button)and recall your saved pressures.

How to check the battery voltage?1. Simply press the button with the battery icon and this will show the voltage

remaining in your rechargeable batteries. If the reading is in the 10’s it isrecommended that the TD312 be left to charge overnight. (at least 8hours)

Remote Function of the TD312

When used with our CVS4 and NIVP3 software the TD312 also functions as a remotecontrol. The TD312 does not have to be connected to the CVS4 to transmit data. Hereare the basic remote functions of the TD312 buttons:

Button # 9 also serves as the escape key to close out of screens or go back.Button # 4 also serves as the enter key for storing selected information.Button #1 will move the cursor left.Button #2 will move the cursor down.Button #3 will move the cursor right.Button #6 will move the cursor up.The Store button saves pressures taken into the software interface screen.
