While 514 million $ was allocated in 2002, the allocation to railways was approximately

3,1 billion $ in 2011.

Our annual allowance was risen by 5-times at the end of 9 years.

High Speed Line between Ankara‐Eskişehir was inaugurated on 13 March 2009. 4 

million 494 thousand passengers were carried between March 2009 and 

September 2011.

After the completion of the rail projects in Turkey, the Silk Road will gain more importance and Europe, Asia, 

esp. the Middle East, and the Central and Far East Asia will be inter‐connected by rail.

Istanbul‐Kars‐Tbilisi‐Baku, Nusaybin‐Iraq, Kars‐Nakhchivan‐Iran, Kavkaz‐Samsun‐Basra, 

Istanbul‐Aleppo‐Makkah & Istanbul‐Aleppo‐North Africa  transport corridors are being developed.

RAIL LINKS WITH NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES

92 % progress was achieved in 73 km long section ofTurkish side in Kars‐Tbilisi Rail Project and it is plannedto be completed in 2012.

Works are going on for Istanbul‐Edirne, Kars‐Nakhchivan, Nusaybin‐Iraq & Gaziantep‐Aleppo Projects.
