AES' Tuljaram Chaturchand College, affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University, is one of the leading and prestigious colleges in Maharashtra. It is reaccredited and also A+ grade with CGPA-3.55recipient of and BEST COLLEGE BEST PRINCIPALawards. Since its inception in 1962, the college has been providing quality education and contributing to academic, social and cultural growth of the society. Our motto, 'We for the Students' is at the heart of everything we do at the college. We aim to impart knowledge and also inculcate wisdom, compassion and a humanitarian spirit among the students.I am very much delighted that the Third issue of Volume II TCC Chronicle of is all set to go to print. Moreover, this issue is special because during this tenure college has achieved many milestones including National Conference by Commerce Department, Collaboration with the Royal University, Bhutan, Social Sciences Lecture Series, Pre-Marital Counseling Workshop, Release of Anekant Journal, Oath for Plastic free Campus, Various Workshops under SDC, Convocation Ceremony, Annual Prize Distribution, Workshop on Efficiency Building and many more. The present issue is a snapshot of various academic activities and advancements the college has made in the last couple of months i.e. from December 2017 to April 2018. I would like to thank Hon. Shri. Arhatdas Shah-Saraf, President, Hon. Shri. Jawahar Shah-Wagholikar, Secretary, and all dignified members of the AES' Management Council, teaching and non teaching staff for their keen interest, constant support and encouragement. We are happy to release our of Third issue of Volume IITCC Chronicle. This issue consists of the latest updates on the progress of the college from to December 2017April 2018. It is a great pleasure that we have successfully completed two years and each issue of our Chronicle is a milestone that marks our growth, unfolds our imagination and gives life to our thoughts and aspirations. This issue provides snapshots of various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. With continuous support of you all, we will continue to provide the latest breakthroughs of the college.I, on behalf of all my colleagues, take this opportunity to express my deepest sense of gratitude towards the Management, Principal, Vice Principals, Registrar and all teaching and non-teaching staff of the college, for their constant support at various stages of compilation. Department of Commerce organized two days National Conference on 'New Horizons in Accounting, Taxation and Management' on 5th January and 6th January 2018. It was inaugurated by Dr. N. S. Umarani, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SPPU, Pune in presence of Dr. G. R. Krishnamurthy, Founder and Director, Professor of Eminence, A.J. Inst. of Management, Mangalore, Dr. R.G. Allagi, Director, Basweshwar Institute of Management Studies, Bagalkot, Karnataka and Shri. Vikas Shah (Lengrekar), Member, Governing Council, AES. The convener and Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar welcomed the delegates and Prof. Prakash Meher, Co-Convener and HoD briefed the aims and objectives. Shri. Anil Bokil, Arthkranti, Pune, Dr. Paresh Shah, Professor, IIM, Ahmadabad and Dr. A.M. Gurav, Dean, Shivaji University, Kolhapur were other speakers. CA Mrs. Ruta Chitale, Secretary, WIRC, ICAI, Pune was the chief guest for Valedictory. Dr. Janardhan Pawar, Organizing Secretary and Prof Vivek Bale proposed a vote of thanks.

Fearless Girls Campaign-'Smart Girl–Safe Girl'

A one day workshop was jointly organized by the S P Pune University's SDB and Tuljaram Chaturchand College on Thursday 28th December 2017. Padmashri Mrs. Shital Mahajan, the first Indian sky jumping diver, inaugurated the workshop. Dr. Sandeep Pakhale, Additional Police Commissioner, Baramati, Hon'ble Ashwini Satav-Doke, social activist also addressed the participants. Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the Chairperson. Vice-Principals Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Dr. Ajit Telave and Mr. Abhinandan Shah, Registrar, were also present. Dr. Seema Naik-Gosavi, Co-ordinator, introduced the workshop. Dr. Samadhan Patil, SDO proposed the vote of thanks. About 360 girl students from different faculties participated.

Social Sciences Lecture Series

The department of Political Science organized this lecture series from 19th January to 30th January 2018 under CPE. The maiden lecture was delivered by Mr. Vinod Shirsat, Editor, Sadhana Saptahik, Pune, who delivered a talk on 'India After Globalization: from the Perspective of an Editor. Prin. Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the president of the function.The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Mangesh Kulkarni, Dept of Politics and Public Administration, SPPU on the topic 'Concept of Power by Michel Foucault'. The third lecture was delivered by Prof. Jaydeo Dole, a veteran Journalist and thinker, Aurangabad on the topic 'Character of Mass Media: Pre and Post- 2014'. The fourth lecture was delivered by Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar on the topic 'J. Krishnamurti: Life and Philosophy'. Prof. Avinash Sawalkar, HoD, Dr. Hanumant Phatak, Co-coordinator, and other faculties took sincere efforts.

To create and enhance awareness among students about disaster and more significantly to train them to face the disastrous s ituations, the Students ' Development Board, SPPU, Pune and Tuljaram Chaturchand College, Baramati jointly organized two days workshop on “Disaster Management Training” on 18th and 19th January 2018 in association with Disaster Management Study Centre (DMSC), Pune. For the inauguration function the chief guests were Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar and Shri Milind Vaidya, Director, DMSC, Pune. Vice Principals Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Dr. Sachin Gadekar also present for the valedictory. Dr. Samadhan Patil, SDO presided over the function.The total 120 of T C and nearby colleges participated. They were trained by the expert team of Disaster Management Study Centre, Pune. Dr. Arun S. Magar, Coordinator and colleagues organized it successfully.

Pre-Marital Counseling Workshop

Department of Psychology and Sakal Media group jointly organized a one day workshop on Pre-marital Counseling on 27th December 2017. The Chief Resource person was Mrs. Smita Joshi and Dr. Sagar Phatak and their team from Pune. For the inaugural function Hon. Milind Shah-Wagholikar, Member, Governing Council, AES and Mrs. Sangita Wagholikar were the guests of honour and Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the President of the function. Mr. Sanjay Ghorpade and Mr. Kunal Mande were also present as the representative of Sakal Media Group.Mrs. Smita Joshi and Dr. Sagar Phatak delivered lectures on the subjects which covered issues like 'how to select life partner', 'selection criteria', 'psychological factors', 'interests of the partner', 'his/her attitude towards self and others as well as self awareness, sexual adjustment after marriage, and adjustment in relationships etc.. They not only delivered lectures but also, conducted psychological games, and role play activities which demonstrated real life situations, problems and more significantly remedies to overcome them. In the end a session for questions-answers was also reserved. There were 177 boys and 203 girls participated.

Science and Commerce, Baramati organized 'Babasaheb

Jaykar Vyakhyanmala' in the academic year 2017-18.

Under this program a three days lecture series was

organized from 29th to 31st January 2018. On the first

day (29th January 2018) Mrs.Chaitali Majgoankar

delivered a speech on 'Mi Yashashvi Honarach'. The

second lecture was on 30th January 2018 by Dr. Vilina

Inamdar on 'Soundarya Manache va Sharirache'. The

third lecture was on 31th January 2018 by Navnath

Londhe on 'Andhashradha Nirmulan : Saha-prayog'.

Mr. Vinayak Lashkar co-ordinated the series.

Felicitation from Management of Anekant Education Society

The management of Anekant Education Society appreciated the works done by the faculty of the college. A grand function was organized for felicitating the staff for their excellence in the field of education and creating world class institution. More than 43 teaching and non-teaching staff and a few students were awarded for their valuable contribution The awards were given at the hands of the Chief guests Hon. Shri. Arhatdas Shah-Saraf, President, AES, Hon. Shri. Jawahar Shah-Wagholikar, Secretary, AES, Hon. Shri. Vikas Shah-Lengarekar, Hon. Shri. Milind Shah-Wagholikar, Members, Governing Council, and other dignitaries from the management did the honours to the distinguished teachers for their remarkable contribution in the college. Hon. Mrs. Pornima Taware, Mayor, Baramati Municipal Council was the guest of honour at the function.Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Vice Principals- Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Dr. Ajit Telave and Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Mr. Abhinandan Shah, Registrar of the college, teaching and non teaching staff, and their family members were felicited on the occasion. This was followed by a delicious dinner to all staff of the college with their family members.

Release of Anekant Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences

research journal entitled Humanitics: Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences in December 2017. The hard copy of the Volume I, Issue I, was released on 17th March 2018 by Hon. Dr. N. J. Pawar, Former Vice Chancellor, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Co-Ordinator, Foreign University Courses, International Center, SP Pune University, Pune, Hon. Jawahar Shah-Wagholikar, Secretary, AES, Principal and Editor Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Vice Principals, Managing Editor Dr. Sachin Gadekar and Registrar of the college. Plastic Free Campus Mission

Celebration of Republic Day 2018

The Republic Day is celebrated every year on January 26 to honour the date on which the constitution of India came into effect in 1950. In the college, the celebration was held on the college's play ground. This year marks the 69th Republic Day of India and like every year, the main attraction of the day was the NCC cadet's parade and the felicitation.On that occasion, Hon. Shri. Milind Rajkumar Shah-Wagholikar, Member, Governing Council, AES and well-known Businessman was the chief guest. In other dignitaries, Hon. Shri Jawahar Shah-Wagholikar, Secretary, AES, Hon. Shri. Vikas Shah Lengarekar, Members, Governing Council and other dignitaries of the college management, Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Principal Rakhi Mathur, AEMS, Dr. M. A. Lahori, Director, AIMS, Vice Principals- Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Dr. Ajit Telave and Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Mr. Abhinandan Shah, Registrar of the college, teaching and non teaching staff, former staff, students, and parents were present to celebrate the day with grandeur. It is a moment of joy and pride for every Indian across the globe.

Students of the college initiated a “plastic free campus

mission “on 1st January 2018. The mission was started

with an oath of not creating a plastic waste. This

occasion was graced by Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar

Murumkar, Vice Principals, Heads of the departments,

staff and students. Students participated in this drive to

reduce the use of plastic. They also promised to create

awareness among students and society at large about

the hazards of the use of plastic. They collected plastic

rappers, bags lying at various places in the campus on

every second and the fourth Saturday. They also

requested the shopkeepers in and around the campus

about to stop selling of products in plastic package.

Workshops/Programmes Organized Under Students Development Board

The vision of college is 'We for Students'. The Board of Students' Development (BSD) truly represents this vision

and conducted various activities at college and departmental levels with assistance from the S P Pune University,

Pune. During this academic year 2017-2018, BSD lead with around the thirty diverse activities. An audit was

successfully completed on 23rdMarch 2018 at SPPU. The University and college jointly spent almost eleven lakh

for these activities.

B) Department Level Programs

One Day Workshop on Academic Writing

Department of Sociology organized a one day workshop on Academic Writing in collaboration with Students Development Board on 29th December 2017. The scholar in Social Sciences, Shri. Mahesh Gavaskar was the Resource person, who is the former Sub-Editor of EPW (The Economic and Political Weekly) and Editor of SAMAJ PRABODHAN PATRIKA. For this workshop the total 90 students of UG and PG of various subjects and faculties participated. Hon Shri. Mahesh Gavaskar delivered a talk on Research Methodology in terms of writing research papers and making research project proposals. Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Vice Principal was the president of the Inauguration function. Dr. Samadhan Patil, SDO was also present. Prof. Vinayak Lashkar was the co-ordinator of the workshop.

A two days workshop on “Short Film Making” was organized at DadaSaheb Phalke Studio of the Communication Studies and Research Department on 9th and 10th January 2018. Principal Dr. Chandrashekar Murumkar was the President of the inauguration programme. Amit Sonawane, Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication Department of S P Pune University, Kavita Datir, Director, and Roshan Marodkar, Cinematographer were the resource persons. They guided students on the topics- 'Story and Script Writing', 'Direction' 'Use of Camera', 'Editing', 'Art Direction', 'Lighting' etc.Practical sessions were also conducted. Interactive session was also organized for students. In the workshop 50 students participated. Moreover, students who participated in the 'Short Film Festival' allowed to attend the workshop at free of cost.

Workshop on Skill Development

A one day workshop on Skills Development for Employability of students was organized under the Students' Development Board on 17th January 2018. The renowned businessmen Hon. Shri. Prashant Raut and Hon. Mrs. U. Tawade were the Resource Persons. Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the President of the inauguration programme. Dr. Seema Naik-Gosavi, coordinator, introduced the workshop. In the attendance were Vice Principals-Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Dr. Ajit Telave, Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Registrar Mr. Abhinandan Shah, Dr. Samadhan Patil, SDO, and faculty members. There was fruitful response from students. Interactive sessions were also reserved for them.

A one day workshop on Medicinal Plant was organized by the Botany department on 13/01/2018. It was sponsored by the Board of Student's Development, SPPU, Pune. Dr. B. M. Gaykar was the Resource person. Dr. S.J. Chavan was the coordinator of the workshop. Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the chief guest of the programme. Vice Principal Dr. Ajit Telave, faculty members of the Botany department and students were in the participants.

Workshop on NET and SET Guidance in Chemistry

Department of Marathi organized a one day workshop

on Script Writing of One Act Play (Ekankika Lekhan

Karyashalla) on 15th January 2018. Shri. Vijaykumar

Katake, Aland, Karnataka was the resource person.

Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the chief

guest of the inaugural function. Dr. Ranjana Nemade,

HoD, welcomed the guest and also introduced the

programme. Faculty and students from Marathi and

other departments participated in the workshop.

A Two days workshop on “NET-SET Guidance was organized by the department of Chemistry, with support of the Students Development Board of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune on 19th and 20th January 2018. The objectives of the workshop were to motivate PG students to go for NET-SET examinations and to train them in individual thinking and also develop problem solving ability.There were 140 participants including UG and PG students and teachers of nearby colleges. The workshop consisted the eight technical sessions, conducted by the seven resource persons from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm each day. The sessions were conducted by Prof. B.R. Torne, Dr. Sudesh Manjare, University of Mumbai, Dr. S. R. Pujari, D.A.V. College, Solapur, Dr. Yogesh N. Indulkar, Dr. Javed Patel form Cipla Ltd. Patalganga, Raigad, Prof. S. R. Kale and Prof. S.T. Salunke. The sessions were followed by participant's feedback and distribution of study materials provided by the resource persons.The workshop was inaugurated by Vice-Principal of college Dr. Shivaji Sathe. Dr. Samadhan Patil, Student's Development Officer, was also present as a guest of honor. Prof. H.M. Wadde, Head, Department of Chemistry, welcomed the guest.

Students' Development Board of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and the department of Statistics, Tuljaram Chaturchand College jointly organised a one day workshop on 'Peronality Development' for T.Y.B.Sc. (Statistics) students on 10th February 2018. The total 50 students from various colleges participated in the workshop. The inauguration function was chaired by Hon. Vice-principal Dr. Shivaji J. Sathe. The chief guests were Mr. Rahul Jagtap, Joint Director, Central Water and Power Research Station, Khadakwasla, and Dr. Chanda Nimbkar, Nimbkar Agricultre Research Institute, Animal Husbandry Division, Phaltan. Dr. Samadhan Patil, SDO was invited as a guest of honour. Among other dignitaries Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Vice-principal and Prof. G. V. Wabale, Head, Department of Statistics, V. P. College, Baramati were present. Dr. Avinash S Jagtap, Vice-Principal & Head, Department of Statistics delivered welcome speech. Mr. Rahul Jagtap talked on the use of Statistics in the field of water and power research station. Dr. Chanda Nimbkar shared her views on the use of design of experiments in agriculture. Dr. Sachin Gadekar and Prof. Smita Gore shared their views on Presentation skills and Tone-Intonation with power point presentations respectively. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Vilas Kakade.

Students' Development Board of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and Department of Computer Science jointly organised a one day workshop on "Computer Networking Essentials" for students on 2nd February, 2018. The total 211 students and faculty members from different colleges enrolled for this workshop. The inauguration function was chaired by Hon. Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar and the chief guest was Mr. Sameer Joshi (CCIE- Cisco Certified). Among the dignitaries present on that occasion were Dr. Samadhan Patil, SDO, Prof. Upendra Choudhari, HoD, Prof. Vishal Shaha, Coordinator and the faculty members of the Computer Science Department. The workshop gave an insight into the design of small to large computer networking and various protocols involved.

A One Day Workshop on Creative Writing by English Department

The Department of English arranged a one day workshop on “Creative Writing” on 23rd February 2018. It was organized in association with Student's Development Board, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The programme began in the auditorium hall at 11:00 am in the presence of the Vice-principal of the college Dr. Sachin Gadekar. Three resource persons were invited for the workshop. The keynote address delivered by Dr. Francis Jarman from the University of Hildesheim, Germany. Dr. Jarman, a noted novelist, dramatist and poet, delivered a speech on the process of creative writing. Dr. Hilda David, Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, Pune. Hers was an interactive speech, which invited the audience to perform certain creative tasks on the spot. She also awarded prizes, in forms of famous books, to the winners of the activities. Dr. Kamalakar Bhat who is an award winning poet, linked his ideas with the previous speakers, he talked on the creative writing of poetry in particular. He explained how poems are therapeutic and also a call for unique adventures into the unknown other. 108 Students and lecturers from the five colleges around Baramati participated in the workshop. The introductory speech was given by the head of the department Prof. Ajey Dhawale. Dr. Sachin Gadekar and Dr. Shashank Mane summed up the talk and the programme. The whole programme was anchored by Prof. S. H. Gore. The other faculty of the department, Prof. Manoj Kawthekar, Prof. Sushil Deshmukh, Dr. Suhas Raut and Prof. Sandesh Rathod were present for the workshop.

Mr. Jeetendra Gund, a senior software developer in E-Zest, Hinjewadi Pune, worked on different domains & has experience of MVC.Net, SQL server, Entity framework, Angular JS, Javascript, HTML. And Mr. Rupesh Kahane, a senior software developer on Digital conversions, Viman nagar Pune, who has an expertise in the areas of technologies like ASP.NET, MVC 5.0, SQL Server 2012, C#, Kendo UI, Knockout JS, Javascript and also conducted more than 60 seminars, workshops for college, schools & training institutes delivered talks on Introduction of HTML5, finding parts of the page, working with user input, music & video (without plugins), drawing shapes charts, etc. which was followed by an interactive session. Prof. Upendra Choudhari, HoD, welcomed the guests. Total 125 students participated.

Workshop on Sex Education and Awareness

Department of Hindi organized a one day workshop on "Anuvad : Swarup evam Avashyakata" on 20th February, 2018. The workshop was based on today's need of translation. The first session commenced by Dr. Sidheshwar Gaikwad, Head, Department of Hindi, B.J.S. College, Wagholi, Pune. In the second session Dr. Rajendra Khairnar, Head, Department of Hindi, Vidya Prathisthan's Arts, Science & Commerce College, Baramati shared his views on the importance of translation Dr. P. R. Sarvade, HoD & faculty members were present.

Student's Development Board and Department of

Psychology Jointly organized a one day workshop on

'Sex Education and Awareness' on 27th February 2018.

The Chef Resource person was Mrs. Smita Joshi and Dr.

Sagar Phatak and their team from Pune. Vice Principal

Dr. Sachin Gadekar was President of the inaugural

function. Student's Development Officer Dr. Samadhan

Patil was also present for the program.

Resource persons not only delivered lectures but also

conducted psychological games, drama and role play

activities. In the end there was a session for questions-

answers. Dr. Vijay Shinde, HoD, Department of

Geography, S. P. College, Pune were the Resource

Persons. Dr. Jaybhaye delivered lecture on

“application of RS and GIS” and Dr. Mundhe delivered

a speech on “opportunities in RS and GIS sector”. There

were more than 50 students, from the neighboring

colleges also, for this workshop. The planning and

execution of the workshop was carried out under the

guidance of Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar

and Dr. Samadhan Patil, Students' Development Officer.

Celebration of Journalism Day

Tuljaram Chaturchand College Baramati, on January

6th organized the Marathi News Reporter's Day in the

Department of Communication Studies and Research.

The reporter of Sakal newspaper, Shri. Dnyaneshwar

Rayte, Baramati was invited as a chief guest and Vice

Principal Dr. Sachin Gadekar presided over as the

chairman of the programme. Shri. Dnyaneshwar Rayte

addressed students and shared his valuable experiences

with students of the Journalism Department. The Quiz

competition was also conducted by the teachers to

encourage students and to evaluate the knowledge of

students current issues and contemporary social

scenario.

A Workshop on Dynamic Yoga and Modern Life Style

Dr. Vasant P Bhapkar Memorial State Level Project

Competition for M.Sc. Statistics Student, jointly

sponsored by Dr. A. P. Gore (Pune University Statistics

Association) and New Arts, Commerce and Science

College, Ahmednagar, was held on 6th April and 7th

April 2018. Four projects were selected for the first

round of the competition, out of which 3 projects were

selected. These three projects were presented by

students of M.Sc. II on 7th April 2018. The project under

the guidance of Prof. C. P. Swami, entitled “Markov

Chain Approach on Rainfall in Different Raining

Nakshatras” was presented by Miss. Pratiksha B. Shinde,

Miss. Trupti R. Doshi and Miss. Namrata A. Patil got the

first rank in the competition.

T.Y.B.Sc. students participated in the project

competition organised by Pune University Statastics'

Association and got the third prize.

The Savitribai Phule Pune University, Student's

Development Board and Department of Yoga jointly

organized a one day workshop on Dynamic Yoga and

Activities Conducted by the Department Of Microbiology

1) A three days workshop was organized by the

department on 'Application of FTIR' for T.Y. B.Sc.

students (Microbiology, Botany, Zoology and Physics),

who have enrolled under DBT Star College scheme. It

was conducted in the two sessions- theoretical and

practical sessions. The theoretical session was

conducted on 12/12/2017 from 9.30 to 12 noon in the

seminar hall; whereas the practical session was

conducted on 13/12/2017 to 14/12/2017 from 9.30 to

12 noon. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Rahul

Bhondave, Department of Chemistry, Tuljaram

Chaturchand College. The total 100 students benefited

by this workshop.

2) A one day seminar was conducted by the Alumni of

the department on “the Scope of Microbiology” for F.Y

and S.Y. B.Sc. students on 20th January 2018. Mr. Sagar

Mohite, Tata Consultancy Services, Pune and Mr.

Nawaz Sheikh, AIDS Research Institute, Pune, Mrs.

Divya Nair, Schreiber Dynamics Dairy Pvt. Ltd.,

Baramati and Mr. Shivaji More, Emcure Pharmaceutical,

Baramati were the speakers. Both sessions were very

interactive. The total 160 students participated.

3) Two days workshop was conducted on “SDS – PAGE

Electrophoresis” for students of T.Y. B. Sc .

(Microbiology), who have enrolled under DBT Star

College scheme from 08-02-2018 to 09-02-2018. Dr. R.

L. Deopurkar was the resource person. The theoretical

session was conducted on 8/02/2018 from 9.30 to 5

pm. in the seminar hall; whereas the practical session

was conducted on 9/02/2018 from 9.30 to 5pm in the

Pasteur lab.

4) A guest lecture series was conducted on 07-03-2018

on the topic “Scientific Communication” for students of

M.Sc. Lectures were delivered by Dr Deewane,

Abasaheb Garware College, Pune, Dr. B. D Bhole,

Abasaheb Garware College, Pune and Dr V. J.

Kshirsagsar, Abasaheb Garware College Pune. The total

48 students were present for the lectures.

A One Day Workshop on E-Business by the Department of Commerce

Student's Welfare Board of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and Tuljaram Charturchand College jointly organized a one day workshop on SET/NET Guidance in Life Sciences for P.G. students of Botany, Microbiology and Zoology on 8th February 2018. It was attended by P.G. Students belonging to different colleges including Shardabai Pawar Mahavidyalaya, Shardanagar and V.P. Art, Science and Commerce College, MIDC, Baramati. The total numbers of participants were 120 including research students and department faculties.Prof. Dhawal Doshi, Prof. Miss. Nadaf Tabassum and Prof. Palave Suresh exchanged their thoughts and interacted with P.G. students on SET/NET examinations in Life Sciences. Dr. Bhagwan Mali was the coordinator. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Mrs. Madhuri Patil.

The Department of Commerce organized a one day workshop on 'E-Commerce' on 17th March 2018 under the scheme of Board of Student's Development, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, to explore various issues in the fields of E-Commerce for students. Mr. Swapnil M. Shah, Tax Consultant, Pune, was the Resource Person. It was inaugurated by Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Vice-Principal in the presence of Prof. Prakash G. Meher, Head, Department of Commerce and other dignitaries including Dr. Samadhan K. Patil, SDO. The co-ordinator of the workshop was Prof. Niranjan R. Shah. Experts from the field of E-Commerce - Mr. Swapnil M. Shah, Tax Consultant, Pune delivered a lecture on 'E-Commerce & Goods & Services Tax', Dr. Amardeep D. Jadhav, Head, CSIBER, Kolhapr, delivered an expert talk on 'Emerging Trends in Commerce', and Prof. Pravin Yadav, Assistant Professor, AIMS, Baramati delivered a talk on 'E-Commerce & Cash Payment System'. Workshop on SET/NET Guidance in Life Sciences

The Department of English conducted the Prize

Distribution programme of English Language &

Literature Association on 5th March 2018 at the

Auditorium Hall (Prashasan Bhavan) of the college. Dr.

Sangita Ghodake , Head & Associate Professor,

Baburaoji Gholap College and Member, Board of

Studies in English, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune

was invited as a chief guest. Prof. Sushil Deshmukh,

Coordinator, ELLA welcome the guests and introduced

the activities of ELLA. Vice-Principal, Dr. Shivaji Sathe

presided over the function. Vice-Principal Dr. Sachin

Gadekar was also present for the programme. After the

felicitation Prizes were given away to the students for

their outstanding performance in ELLA competitions

throughout the year.

In her speech Dr. Sangita Ghodake emphasized on

various fields which have been opened to the students

of English. Prof. Sandesh Rathod did the compeering for

the function. Students of post graduate and

undergraduate of the English department attended the

ceremony in great numbers. Few students from

Baburaoji Gholap College, were also present for the

programe. All faculty members of the department were

present for the program.

Prize Distribution of English Language and Literature Association

College has subscribed J-gate basic science e-journal

database. A one day workshop on "How to use J-gate e-

journal database” was organized by the department of

Library and Informatics, Bangalore on 24th April 2018.

Mr. V. T. Somshekhar, Regional Manager of Informatics,

Bangalore guided faculty about the use of software. The

total 70 faculty members of different departments

participated in the workshop. Prof. Amar Kulkarni,

Librarian and staff Co-ordinated the workshop.

A One Day Workshop on J Gate

1) Pune District Physical Education Teacher's Training

2017-18 - Tuljaram Chaturchand College, Baramati

organized the Pune District Physical Education Teacher's

Training Camp 2017-18 from 28th March to 06th April

2018 under the aegis of the Director of Sports & Youth,

Pune.100 Physical education teachers from all over

Pune district attended the training program. The course

included skill training of Basketball, Netball, Volleyball,

Football, Softball, Kabaddi, Archery, Wrestling, Table

Tennis, Judo and Athletics. All the participants were

honored with Handbook, Tracksuit & Course

Completion Certificate.

2) Inter Collegiate Korfball Competition - Inter

Collegiate Korfball Competition was held at

E.S.Divekar College, Warvand. Our college won the

title consecutively in the second year. Rohit Shinde,

Aviraj Gaikwad, Shreeprasad Pandhare, Nikita

Gaikwad, Pooja Taware & Drishti Chavan were selected

for the Zonals.

3) I.Q.A.C Youth Festival 2018 - I.Q.A.C Youth Festival

2018 was celebrated from 23rd & 24th January 2018.

63 Girls & 31 Boys participated in Cycling & Mini

Marathon Race. They were honored with cash prizes &

certificates.

Annual Sports Prize Distribution Ceremony 2018 - The

Annual Sports Prize Distribution Ceremony 2018 was

conducted on 17th February 2018. Miss. Anjali Deokar

(Former International Wrestler, Coach & Chhatrapati

Awardee) was the Guest of honor. More than 400

students from Senior & Junior College were felicitated

with Cash prizes, Tracksuits; Certificates & Memento.

Hon. Mr. Milind Shah-Wagholikar, Member, Governing

Council, AES, was the president for the ceremony.

Cultural Activities

Pune District Sports Zone has started the Best College Award in Sports from the year 2017-18. Our college is honored with the First “Best College Award” in Sports for the year 2017- 2018 with 478 Points. Prof Gautam Jadhav, Assistant Director of Physical Education has received the Award from Dr. Tanaji Salve, President, Pune District Sports Zone and Dr. Datta Mahadam, Assistant Director, Board of Sports, SPPU Pune. The award function was held at A.W.College, Otur on 27th April, 2018.

Students performed in the cultural programme

arranged to the participants of the National Conference

organized by the Department of Commerce on 5th

January 2018. The total 87 students participated in the

cultural programme. All dances were choreographed by

our student Mr. Ganesh Upadhyay.

Students participated in the Youth Festival organized by

Maharastra Institute of Management, Kalamb-

Walchandnager and got the eight prizes in various

events including dance, singing, mono act, street play,

comedy catta, elocution, debate etc.

Sharad Youth Festival was organized in Indapur. Mr.

Shubham Kakade got the first prize in Poetry reading

and Ms. ShivanI Rahatekar got the second prize in solo

dance

Celebration of Women's' Day

Mental health is a significant thing which women neglect. Women should balance between their career and personal lives. The happiness in life depends on the physical and mental health and on personal satisfaction, said the renowned psychiatrist Dr. Aparna Pawar. She was addressing on the subject 'My Mental Health and My Rights' at Tuljaram Chaturchand College on the occasion of women's day on 8 th Mar ch 20 18 . Pr i n c i pa l D r. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the president of the inauguration programme. Vice Principals Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Dr. Ajit Telave, Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Prof, Mrs. Vaishali Mali (Jr.) and Registrar Mr.Abhinandan Shah were also present. Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar emphasized on the unnecessary burden on women's shoulders. They should not get entrapped in their mental worrying; they should talk to themselves freely. The power of intellect and mind is extraordinary. He further said that happiness is a state of mind; one can find it in one's mind.

Tuljaram Chaturchand College's 3rd Annual Convocation

was held on 6th March 2018. The venue was beautifully and

artistically decorated Jeevraj Hall of the college. The chief

guest for the convocation was Hon. Dr. Machindra Shejul,

Registrar, Symbiosis International University, Pune and Hon.

Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the President of

the programme. Also in attendance the guest of honour were

other dignitaries from the academic world, management,

administration, parents, faculties and students.

Degrees were awarded to students. The ceremony began

with a grand academic procession lead by NCC cadet's 'Band'

and the National song sung by the students. The CEO Dr.

Jagdish Deshpande in his report highlighted the academic

achievements of the students and the Principal Dr.

Chandrashekhar Murumkar touched the overal l

development of the college and also gave hints about the

future plans of the college. A scintillating medals and awards

ceremony was also the part of convocation.

The convocation ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by

Dr. Sachin Gadekar, followed by the National Anthem.

Workshop on Value Education

A grand Annual Prize Distribution function was organized in the college on 17th March 2018 to recognize and awards the meritorious students. The successful students in various classes and courses have been honoured in the function. Hon. Dr. N. J. Pawar, Former Vice Chancellor, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Coordinator, Foreign University Courses, International Centre, SP Pune University, Pune was the chief guest, who also delivered a motivating speech which followed by the distribution of cash prizes and certificates to the meritorious students. Hon. Shri. Vikas Shah-Lengarekar, member,GS, AES, was the President of the function and Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the guest of honor. The students were given the cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates of appreciation which have marked recognition of their hard work. The programme was attended by students, parents, and staff. Vice Principals- Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Dr. Ajit Telave and Dr. Sachin Gadekar, Mr. Abhinandan Shah, Registrar of the college graced the occasion. Education' for the volunteers of NSS. Hon. Shri. Abhay

Bhandari, well-known thinker and social activist and

Hon. Shri. Mahesh Ahiwale, Director, Savali Anath

Ashram, Baramati were the resource persons. Hon.

Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the

president of the function. District Coordinator and

Programme Officers Dr. Bhagwan Mali, Prof. Vilas

Kardile, Dr. Pratibha Jawale, Prof. Vaibhav Landge and

the NSS committee members took sincere efforts to

organize it successfully, which received overwhelming

response from students.

Celebration of Geography Day

The Department of Chemistry organized the late

Professor R. J. Gandhi Lecture Competition for the Post

Graduate Students on 17th February 2018. Students

delivered lectures on the topics of their interest which

highlighted the new trends and development in

Chemistry. Hon. Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar

Murumkar inaugurated the competition in the presence

of honourable judges Dr. Dilip Satpute, Garware

College, Pune, Dr. Ramdas Pawar, B. R. Gholap College,

Pune, and Prof. Sunil Dorage, Waghire College, Saswad.

The department is organizing this competition for the

last three years. This year 34 students from various

colleges participated and cash prizes of Rs. 3000. Rs.

2000 and Rs.15000, Trophies and Certificates were

given to the winners. Prof. H.M. Wadde, HoD, Prof. S.

R. Kale, Coordinator and other faculty members of the

department organized this competition successfully.

Late Prof. R. G. Gandhi Lecture Competition

The Department of Geography, as a tradition, this year

also celebrated Veteran Geographer Dr. C.D.

Deshpande's birth anniversary as Geography Day on

17th February 2018. Prof. Praveen Saptarshi, Former

Professor, Environment Science Savitribai Phule Pune

University, Pune was the Chief Guest. Principal Dr.

Chandrashekhar Murumkar was the president of the

programme. In his address Dr. Praveen Saptarshi

focused on various current trends and opportunities in

Geography subject and more significantly - Social &

Political Scenario in India & Globe as well. This

programme was attended by students of Geography

and of other subjects. There were more than 50

students present on that occasion. Dr. Sachin Gadekar,

Vice Principal, Dr. Samadhan Patil, Students'

Development Officer also graced the occasion. The

programme was planned and executed by Dr. Assaram

Jadhav, HoD, Dr. Arun Magar and other faculty

members of the department.

Tuljaram Chaturchand College organized a two days workshop for Administrative and Non-teaching staff on Efficiency Building under UGC, CPE Scheme for faculty development on 7th and 8th April, 2018. For that workshop Dr. Sachin Surve, Section Officer, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune was the Resource Person. For the inauguration function Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Convener, Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Co-Convener, Shri. Abhinandan Shah, Registrar and Organising Secretary, Vice Principals- Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Dr. Ajit Telave, Dr. Sachin Gadekar, and Co-ordinator Dr. Ramchandra Sapkal were present. In the workshop various Soft Skills have been practically taught including Confidence Building, Motivation, Communication Skills, Time Management, Positive Attitude, Leadership Skills, and Efficient Administration etc. In the Workshop more than 75 administrative and non-teaching staff took part enthusiastically and actively.Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar also addressed the participants and insisted on systematic and efficient practices in the academics. Workshop on Efficiency Building of Non Teaching Staff

The training and Placement cell organized campus drive at college on 12th January 2018. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) visited the college to recruit students for TCS BPS Unit at Pune division. The selection team conducted various rounds such as GD, Aptitude Test, HR Round and Telephonic for the selection. There was a very good response from the students for the campus drive. The total 110 final year students were participated. Out of those, 53 students were selected in GD round and appeared for the next round. In the second round-Aptitude Test, 15 students cleared the test successfully and appeared for the final round-Telephonic Round. 12 students cleared the final round of Telephonic interview and got an offer letter from the company. The total 40 students were selected for the voice process and appeared for the HR round. Out of those 40 students, 13 students were selected for the telephonic round and successfully selected. Dr. Janardhan K. Pawar is the Training and Placement Officer.

Campus Placement

Alumni Meet of the college was held in the month of March 2018. Various departments organized this meet at department level. The distinguished alumni of the departments were invited for the meet, who shared their experiences as well as interesting moments of the campus lives. However, they were interested in knowing the courses and activities the college conduct. Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar played the role of catalyst. The department levels as well as the college level committees are formed. Moreover, the Alumni Association of the college is also registered to the Charity Commissioner. Dr. Ashok Kalange is the chairman of the college Alumni Association committee.

Alumni Meet

Department of Computer Science organized a mega Campus drive for Junior Software Developer positions with an assistance of Cognitech Pvt. Ltd., Pune & their tie-up Companies on 22/12/2017 for the M.Sc./ MCA / BE / BCA / BCS / BTECH /2016/17/18 pass out students. One week in advance students were asked to register for this drive through online as well as offline process. The company delegates Mr. Amar Kokare , (CEO/Founder, Cognitech Pvt. Ltd, Pune) and Mr Umesh Mane (Sr.S/W Developer, Cognitech Pvt. Ltd, Pune) and Mr. Upendra Choudhari, HoD and faculties of the Computer Science department present on that occasion. The aptitude test (round I) was conducted and then the technical interview (round-II) was conducted on the same day. Around the 40 college's students from Pune & nearby districts participated in the campus drive. The total 273 students present for the drive and attended aptitude test round I and out of that 39 students selected for the technical and interview rounds. This drive was coordinated by Mrs. S.T. Shaikh and other faculty members of the department.

Department of Computer Science Organized a Mega Campus Drive

A) Foreign Visits:

1) Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar and Vice

Principal Dr. Shivaji Sathe visted the Royal University of

Bhutan, Thimphu, Bhutan between 9th May 2018 to

17th May 2018. They met the Vice Chancellor Hon.

Dasho Nidup Dorji and discussed about the areas of

common interest to sign a Memorandum of

Understanding between the two institutes. The

authorities of the university-the Dean and the Chief,

External Relations Division have been interested to

collaborate with the college and also work together in

the areas including history, social studies and research.

2) Dr. Pradeep Sarvade, Head, Department of Hindi,

participated in the multidisciplinary international

conference on the subject "Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar:

Today & Tomorrow" at Mauritius on 09th May, 2018,

organized by Amity Institute of Higher Education,

Mauritius & Arts, Commerce, Science College,

Dharangaon and also presented the research paper

entitled "Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar : The Source of

Literature". On that occasion his book entitled

"Ambedkarvadi Chintan Aur Dalit Upanyas" was also

released in the auspicious presence of Hon. Marie

Roland Alain Worng Yen Cheong, Dr. O. D. Cowreea &

Dr. Dhananjay Keskar.

B)Appointments on the Academic Bodies of the

University

A) Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Vice Principal and Head, Department of Microbiology has been elected as a member of the Board of Studies in the Microbiology subject of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune in the year 2017-2018.

B) Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Vice Principal and HoD, Deparment of Statistics has been nominated as a member of the Board of Studies in Statistics and has been invited as a guiding member in an autonomous college-SSVSS's Vivekanand College, Kolhapur from 2017-2018.

C) Ph.D. Degree holders:

1) The Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune awarded Ph.D. degree to Mr. Hanumant Phatak in Political Science on the topic Swatantryotar Kalkhandatil Bharatiya Rajyasanthechi Saindhantik Charcha: Ek Samikshatmak Adhava under the guidance of Professor Dr. Mangesh Kulkarni, SPPU, Pune on 13th April, 2018.

2) The JJT University, Rajasthan awarded Ph. D in Statistics to Mrs. Neeta K. Dhane on the topic “A Critical Comparison between Traditional and Data-Driven Predictive Statistical Models” under the guidance of Dr. Subhash Desai and Dr. Rajendra Gurao on 14th April 2018.

3) The Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune awarded Ph.D. degree to Mrs. Megha Rajesh Badve in Commerce on the topic “A Study of Administrative and Managerial Practices of Small and Medium Scale of Electronic Units in Pune Region (2000-2010) under the guidance of Principal Dr. Somprasad Kenjale on 27th January 2018.

Dr. Arun Magar, Assistant Professor of Geography participated in the IIRS User Interaction Meet-2018 held at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun, Uttarakhand from 26th to 27th February, 2018.

1) A Study tour was organized by the department of Zoology on 12-01-2018 at CSIR, Dona Paula, Panji Goa for students enrolled under DBT-STAR College Scheme.

2) The Department of BBA organized a study tour of students in the month of February and March and visited industries -Bharat Forge, Dynamics Industries and Textile Park from Baramati.
