FOUNDER’SNOTETheTampaBayPrideBandwasbornfromthedesiretohaveanoutstandingmusicalensemble,meanttobeapointofprideforALLmembersoftheTampaBaycommunityandaffiliatedwiththeLGBTQIAcommunityofTampaBay.Weintendtohaveanoutstandingconcertprogram,puttingonconcertsofthehighestqualityandpartneringwithotherensemblesofqualityinthestateofFlorida.WealsowanttorepresenttheLGBTQIAcommunityintheBayAreaPrideParadeinTampa,withhopesofcontributingtoSt.PetersburgandOrlandoevents.WehopeyouwilljoinustomakegreatmusicandbecomeasymbolofprideforcommunitybandsintheBayarea.
MISSIONSTATEMENTThemissionoftheTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsistosupporttheLGBTQIAandstraightcommunitiesintheTampaBayareathroughtheartswithacomprehensivebandprogramtoincludeamarchingband,concertband,andcolorguard.

DIVERSITYSTATEMENTTheTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsensemblesarecommittedtomaintainingacommunity,whichrecognizesandvaluestheinherentworthanddignityofeveryperson.Weembracetolerance,sensitivity,understanding,andmutualrespectamongourmembers.Weencourageeachindividualbandmembertostrivetoreachhisorherownpotential.TheTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsprohibitsdiscriminationagainstanymemberofthebandcommunityonthebasisofrace,religion,color,sex,age,nationaloriginorancestry,geneticinformation,maritalstatus,parentalstatus,sexualorientation,genderidentityandexpression,disability,orstatusasaveteran.TheBoardofDirectorsisfullycommittedtotheseidealsandregulations,andexpectseveryparticipantandvolunteersinourprogramtoembracethemaswell.

2. Weareanon-auditiongroup,andareopentoallbackgroundsandabilitylevels.
3. CommunitymemberselectingtoparticipateintheTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsmustadheretothepoliciessetforthintheTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsBandMemberHandbook.
4. Allapplicablefederalandstatelawsshallbefollowed.5. Bandmembersareresponsibleforpayingtheappropriate
membershipduesbythedeadlineascommunicatedbytheExecutiveBoard–hardshipsituationsshallbebroughtdirectlytotheattentionoftheArtisticDirector(s)and/ortheBoardofDirectors(see:Fees).
PERFORMINGORGINZATIONS1. TheTampaBaySymphonicWindsisaconcertband
composedofcommunitymusiciansofallabilitylevels.Theensembleannuallypresentsaseriesofformalconcertsfollowingweeklyrehearsals.Theconcertbandrepertoireincludesawidevarietyoforiginalwindbandcompositions,orchestratranscriptions/arrangements,andlight,thematic,populartunes.
2. TheTampaBayPrideBandisamarchingbandcomposedofcommunitymusiciansofallabilitylevels.Membershipincludeswindplayers,adrumline,andcolorguard.ThebandisshowcasedduringtheTampaPrideParade,andmembersoftheorganizationmaychoosetorepresenttheTampaBayPrideBandatSt.PetersburgandOrlandoPrideevents.Inadditiontothis,membersmaybeaskedtoperformatsponsorshipandfundraisingevents.

WoodwindQuintet,andaWoodwindTrio,performatsomeconcertswiththeTampaBaySymphonicWinds.Theymayalsoperformatsomesponsorshipandfundraisingevents.
ETIQUETTE1. Thegeneralmemberworksdirectlyandinapositive
mannerwiththeArtisticDirectorsinsupportingandimplementingallcomponentsoftheArtisticDirectors’visionsfortheTampaBayPrideBand,theTampaBaySymphonicWindsanditssubsidiaries.
2. Bandmembersshallpreparemusicaheadoftime(outsideoftheregularensemblerehearsal)andattendrehearsalswiththeirassignedmusicandapencil.
3. Musicstandsarefrequentlyprovidedbutsomecircumstanceswillrequirethemembertohavehisorherownmusicstand.Musiclyresmustbepurchasedbyeachmemberasneededformarchingband.
4. Membersareresponsibleforthemusicfolderandthecontentsassignedtothemember.Musicfoldersmustbereturnedtothemusiclibrarianattheendofeachconcert.Ifthemusicfolderislost,thememberwholostthemusicandfolderwillpayfullreplacementcost.
5. Bandmembersshallmakeeveryefforttoassistwithset-upandteardownofrehearsalsandperformancesbysettingupandputtingawaytheirownchairandstand(attheveryleast).
6. Bandmembersshallbehaveinaprofessionalmanneratallrehearsalsandeventsbyusingrespectfullanguage,maintainingapositiveattitude,andtreatingtheArtisticDirectors,BoardofDirectors,andothermemberswithrespectandcourtesyatalltimes.Thisincludesrepresentingthebandresponsiblyonsocialmediaandintra-bandcommunications.

GRANTCOORDINATOR(CONTINUED)IntheeventtheGrantCoordinatorfailstomeettheseexpectationsand/orcannolongerworkproductivelywiththeBoardandArtisticDirector(s),she/heshallresignfromtheboardeffectiveimmediately.TheGrantCoordinatorshallattendallrehearsalsandperformancesasableandcommunicatetheirabsencesandavailabilitytotheappropriateBoardmember.RECRUITMENTCOORDINATORTheRecruitmentCoordinatorworksdirectlyandinapositivemannerwiththeArtisticDirectorsinsupportingandimplementingallcomponentsoftheArtisticDirectors’visionsfortheTampaBayPrideBandanditssubsidiaries.TheRecruitmentCoordinatorshalloperateunderthegeneraldirectionoftheBandDirectorandPresidentandshallberesponsibleforrecruitingnewmembers.TheRecruitmentCoordinatorwillworkcloselywiththeArtisticDirectortofillanyvacanciesinsectionsasneeded.IntheeventtheRecruitmentCoordinatorfailstomeettheseexpectationsand/orcannolongerworkproductivelywiththeBoardandArtisticDirector(s),she/heshallresignfromtheboardeffectiveimmediately.TheRecruitmentCoordinatorshallattendallrehearsalsandperformancesasableandcommunicatetheirabsencesandavailabilitytotheappropriateBoardmember.WEBMASTERDirectorsinsupportingandimplementingallcomponentsoftheArtisticDirectors’visionsfortheTampaBayPrideBandanditssubsidiaries.TheMemberatLargeshalloperateunderthegeneraldirectionoftheBandDirectorandPresidentandshallserveasarepresentativeofthemembershipasawhole.TheMemberatLargeshallvoicethemembership’squestionsandconcernstotheboardatboardmeetings,viaemail,orotherformsofcommunicationasneeded.20
SOCIALMEDIADIRECTORTheSocialMediaDirectoroperatesunderthegeneraldirectionoftheBandDirectorandPresident.TheSocialMediaDirectorisresponsibleforcreating,maintaining,andupdatingmasscommunicationandrelevantinformationrelatingtotheOrganizationviasocialmedia.TheSocialMediaDirectorshallaidtheSecretaryindistributinginformationtotheassociationviasocialmediaasneededorrequested.IntheeventtheSocialMediaDirectorfailstomeettheseexpectationsand/orcannolongerworkproductivelywiththeArtisticDirector(s),she/heshallresignfromtheboardeffectiveimmediately.TheSocialMediaDirectorshallattendallrehearsalsandperformancesasableandcommunicatetheirabsencesandavailabilitytotheappropriateBoardmember.GRANTCOORDINATORTheGrantCoordinatorworksdirectlyandinapositivemannerwiththeArtisticDirectorsinsupportingandimplementingallcomponentsoftheArtisticDirectors’visionsfortheTampaBayPrideBandanditssubsidiaries.TheGrantCoordinatorshalloperateunderthegeneraldirectionoftheBandDirectorandPresident.TheGrantCoordinatorisresponsibleforsearchingfor,applyingfor,andmotioningforgrantopportunities.TheGrantCoordinatorispermittedtoformacommitteewhichprovidesdirectassistancetosearchingandapplyingforgrants.Intheeventthattheydoso,theGrantCoordinatorshallactasChairofsuchcommittee.Inaddition,theGrantCoordinatorshallberesponsibleforthesafekeepingofdetailedgrantrecords.TheGrantCoordinatorisresponsibleformaintainingMaintainallrecordsrequiredforverifyinggrantcompliancewithallrequiredagenciesandorganizations.TheGrantCoordinatorwillaidtheTreasurerintheupkeepoftheorganization’s501c3status.

10. ByparticipatinginanyTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsperformanceorrehearsal,amemberorguestperformerconsentstothereleaseofaudio/videomedia,whichmaycontainhisorherlikenessandperformance.
11. ItisacceptableforaGeneralMembertohelpfellowsectionmembersbypointingoutmissedaccidentals,keysignatures,missedentrancesormissedrests.However,anyconcernsthismemberhasabouttheskillsorqualityofplayofotherbandmembersshouldbereportedtoSectionLeaderortheArtisticDirectorandnottheindividualinquestion.
12. Anychangestoamember’slegalname,emailaddress,physicaladdressandtelephonenumbershouldbecommunicatedbythatmembertotheSecretaryassoonaspossible.
13. NewmembersarerequiredtofilloutaninitialmembershipformtobesubmittedtotheSecretary.
ATTENDANCE1. Bandmembersareexpectedtoattendallrehearsalsand
performances.2. Bandmembersareexpectedtoreportpromptlyatleast15
minutespriortothestartofrehearsalandwiththeirinstrumentsingoodplayingcondition.
3. Regularrehearsalsstartpromptlyat7:00p.m.andendatapproximately9:00p.m.

ATTENDANCE(CONTINUED)4. Memberswillsignanattendancesheetateachrehearsal.5. Weather,emergencycancellations,oranychangein
venues,times,ordateswillbecommunicatedpriorto3:00p.m.thatdaythroughemail.Iftheschooldistrictorothervenueforthelocationofarehearsalisclosed,therehearsalwillbecanceled.
6. Bandmembersexpectingtobeabsentfromarehearsal,tardytoarehearsal,orwhoplantoleavearehearsalearlyareexpectedtonotifytheirsectionleaderinadvance.Attendanceisimportantandshowsrespectforothermembersoftheband.Notificationofabsencecanbedonethroughanin-personconversation,textmessage,phonecall,oremail.
7. Bandmembersshouldmakeeveryefforttoattendbandrehearsalsandperformances,however,asacommunitybandweunderstandthatthingscanhappenthatareoutofourcontrol.TheBoardofDirectorsmakeeveryefforttobeflexibleandunderstandingaboutexternalconflicts,buttheyreservetherighttoremoveabandmemberfromaperformanceduetolowattendance.Asabenchmark,lowattendanceisanythinglessthan2/3oftherehearsals.
8. AbandmembermissinganydressrehearsalwillnotbeallowedtoplayattheconcertunlessapprovedbytheArtisticDirector.MissingaconcertordressrehearsalwithoutcauseapprovedbytheArtisticDirectorand/orBoardofDirectorsisgroundsforexpulsion.
ATTIREAttireforperformancesoftheTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsisasfollows:1. TheTampaBayPrideBandattireconsistsofsolidblack
bottoms,blackshoes,andat-shirtprovidedbytheorganization(See:Fees).

SECRETARY(CONTINUED)TheSecretaryisresponsibleforallmasscommunicationrelatingtotheOrganizationsuchasbutnotlimitedto:weeklypostcards,newsletters,andconcertbulletins.TheSecretaryaidstheWebmaster.TheSecretaryshallestablishcommunicationlinksandcontactsforcommunicatinginformationandeventspecificstothegeneralcommunity,newsoutlets,socialmedia,etc.TheSecretarywillberesponsibleforsendingoutthankyoulettersandothercorrespondenceswhennecessary.TheSecretaryshalltakeattendanceatBoardMeetings.IntheeventtheSecretaryfailstomeettheseexpectationsand/orcannolongerworkproductivelywiththefoundingartisticdirector(s),she/heshallresignfromtheboardeffectiveimmediately.TheSecretarymustattendallrehearsalsandperformancesasableandcommunicatetheirabsencesandavailabilitytotheappropriateBoardmember.LIBRARIANTheLibrarianworksdirectlyandinapositivemannerwiththeArtisticDirectorsinsupportingandimplementingallcomponentsoftheArtisticDirectors’visionsfortheTampaBayPrideBandanditssubsidiaries.TheLibrarianshalloperateunderthegeneraldirectionoftheBandDirectorandPresidentandshallberesponsiblefordistributingmusicandcollectingmusicfromthebandmembers.TheLibrarianwillpreservetheoriginalscoreandoriginalpartsforallinstruments.TheLibrarianwillorganizethestorageofallmusicandmaintainanaccuratecatalogueofallmusicinthelibrary.IntheeventtheLibrarianfailstomeettheseexpectationsand/orcannolongerworkproductivelywiththeBoardandArtisticDirector(s),she/heshallresignfromtheboardeffectiveimmediately.TheLibrarianshallattendallrehearsalsandperformancesasableandcommunicatetheirabsencesandavailabilitytotheappropriateBoardmember.18
SECRETARYTheSecretaryshallkeepandpublishminutesoftheBoardofDirectorsandmeetingsofthemembersofthecorporation,includingtheAnnualMeeting.TheSecretaryworksdirectlyandinapositivemannerwiththefoundingartisticdirectorsinsupportingandimplementingallcomponentsofthefoundingartisticdirectors’visionsfortheTampaBayPrideBandanditssubsidiaries.TheSecretaryshalloperateunderthegeneraldirectionofthefoundingartisticdirectorandPresidentandkeepstheminutesofallOrganizationandExecutiveBoardmeetings.Theyshallworkdirectlywiththeboardandmembershiptoensurethatcommunicationistimely,clear,andconsistent.TheSecretaryshallserveasChairofatleastonecommittee/event.TheSecretaryshallprintandpublishprogramsandconcertticketsoneweekpriortoperformances.TheSecretaryshallorganizecommunicationsandcorrespondenceandkeepsacompleterecordofallinitiations.TheSecretaryshallmaintainpersonnelandmembershiprecordstoinclude,butnotlimitedto,names,instrument,homeaddress,phonenumber,andemailaddress.TheyshallpromptlysendtheminutesofthepreviousBoardmeetingtoallboardmembers.Onceapproved,theminutesshallbeavailabletogeneralmembersuponrequest.TheSecretarychangesandrecordsmembershipvotesonthesubjectathand.TheyshallsendcommunicationsasrequestedbytheBoardand/orthefoundingartisticdirector(s).TheSecretaryshallalso:sendnoticesasrequiredbytheseBylaws;

collectedfromeverybandmemberthatparticipatesintheTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsbytheTreasurer.Thisfeeentitlesthebandmembertocheckoutmusicforconcertsand/orparades.Feesalsocoverrentalspaceandotheroperationalexpenses.Bandmembersareentitledtoareceiptofthistransactionuponrequest.Membershipfeesaredueonorbeforethe3rdrehearsal.
2. Inadditiontothemembershipfee,allTampaBayPrideBandmembersarerequiredtopayanadditionalt-shirtfee.Theamountofthet-shirtisdependentonexternalfactorsandwillbeannouncedpriortothedateofpurchase.Payingthisfeecoversoneparadet-shirtforthebandmember.BandmemberswhoownaPrideparadet-shirtfromapreviousyearthatmatchesthecurrentversionwillbeexemptfrompayingthisfee,contingentonwearingshirttotheparade.Playerswithoutashirtmustpurchaseoneonthedayoftheparade.

LOSSOFMEMBERSHIP1. Intheeventageneralmemberfailstomeetexpectations
assetforthinthishandbookand/orcannolongerworkproductivelywiththeArtisticDirector(s),ExecutiveBoardofDirectors,andorothergeneralmembers,she/heshallbeaskedtoleavethegrouporbeexpelledatthediscretionoftheBoardofDirectors.
2. AnymemberwhodefamesordemeansTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindswhileinuniformorwhileotherwiserepresentingTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWinds,orbehavesinamannerdeemedbytheMembershipCommitteeortheBoardofDirectorstobeharmfultoTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsoritsmembers,maybepermanentlyexpelledbytheBoardofDirectors.
3. Automaticlossofmembershipoccursunderthefollowingcircumstances:
• Ifamemberhasbeenabsentformorethan1/3oftherehearsalswithoutpriorapprovaloftheArtisticDirector.
• IfamembermissesadressrehearsalorperformancewithoutextenuatingcircumstancesapprovedbytheArtisticDirector
• FailuretopaydueswithintwoweeksofbeinggivennoticeoffailuretopayunlesstheArtisticDirectorand/orBoardofDirectorsfindsextenuatingcircumstancesexcusingpayment
• Ifanindividualengagesinsexualharassment,intimidationorothernegativebehaviors
4. Uponresignationorleaveofabsence,allTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWinds-ownedmaterials,music,andequipmentmustbereturned.
5. Dueswillnotberefundedinwholeorinparttoanymemberdroppedfromactivestatusforanyoftheabovereasons.

TREASURER(CONTINUED)TheTreasurerrecordsdailybusinesstransactionsintheaccountingcycle.TheTreasurershallensurethataccuratedocumentationofrecordsiskeptandavailableforreviewand/orauditalways.TheTreasurerpreparesanannualbudget,periodicreportsandreporttotheboardmeetingsthefinancialstatusoftheOrganizationtoensurechecksandbalances.TheTreasurerisalsoresponsiblefordistributingfourquarterlystatementstotheBoard,makingpaymentonoutstandingbills,organizingtheupkeepofPAYPAL,andprovidingdebtlistrecordstotheBoard.TheTreasurer’squarterlystatementshouldbelistedonthewebsitecalendarandprovidedduringBoardmeetings.PriortoBoardmeetings,theTreasurerwillprovidethetreasurerreportinemailformtotheboard.TheTreasurershallmaintainaccuratefinancialrecordsandpresentsafinancialdisclosureatallExecutiveBoardmeetings,which,whenapproved,areavailableforviewingbythegeneralmembership.TheTreasurershallcollectmembershipduesandfundsatallevents,ensurethatdepositsaremadewithin48businesshoursofreceipt,andfileallnecessaryfinancialreportingdocumentswiththeStateofFloridaandtheIRSincompliancewithfederalregulationsregarding501(c)-3Not-for-ProfitCorporationStatusonanannualbasis.TheTreasurerisresponsibleforpreparinganannualbudget.IntheeventtheTreasurerfailstomeettheseexpectationsand/orcannolongerworkproductivelywiththeBoardandfoundingartisticdirector(s),she/heshallresignfromtheboardeffectiveimmediately.TheTreasurershallattendallrehearsalsandperformancesasableandcommunicatetheirabsencesandavailabilitytotheappropriateBoardmember. 16
VICEPRESIDENT(CONTINUED)TheVicePresidentassiststhePresidentinperformanceofprescribeddutiesandcarriesoutmiscellaneousfunctionsasdirectedbythePresident.TheVicePresidentadvisesthePresidentonmattersrequiringconsultation.TheVicePresidentservesasliaisontocommitteechairsasassignedbyPresidentandserveasChairofatleastonecommittee/event.TheVicePresidentmaintainspositiondescriptionsofExecutiveBoard.TheVicePresidentdevelopsandimplementsprogramstorecruitnewmembers.TheVicePresidentattendsand,intheabsenceofthePresident,assumespresidentialresponsibilitiesandactaspresidingofficeroverallExecutiveBoardmeetings,rehearsals,andperformancesoftheTampaPrideBandanditssubsidiaries.TheVicePresidentactsasliaisonbetweenmembershipandtheexecutiveboardformattersincludingsuggestionsandgrievances.TheVicePresidentmustattendallrehearsalsandperformancesasableandcommunicatetheirabsencesandavailabilitytotheappropriateBoardmember.IntheeventtheVicePresidentfailstomeettheseexpectationsand/orcannolongerworkproductivelywiththefoundingartisticdirector(s),she/heshallresignfromtheboardeffectiveimmediately.TREASURERTheTreasurershallensurethatappropriatefinancialbooksandrecordsarekept,shallpresentaccountingswhenrequestedbytheBoardofDirectors,andexecutethefunctionsoftheofficeasdeterminedbytheBoardofDirectors.TheTreasurerworksdirectlyandinapositivemannerwiththeBoardfoundingartisticdirectorsinsupportingandimplementingallcomponentsofthefoundingartisticdirectors’visionsfortheTampaBayPrideBandanditssubsidiaries.TheTreasureroperatesunderthegeneraldirectionofthefoundingartisticdirectorandPresidentandinaccordancetotheOrganization’scashmanagementpoliciesandprocedures.TheTreasurershallensuretransactionsareproperlyrecordedandthatsupportingdocumentsarepresentandcorrect.TheTreasurercarriesoutroutinecalculations,reconciliationsandbanktransactions.

SEXUALHARASSMENTANDBULLYINGTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsiscommittedtoprovidingaspacewhereitsmemberscanhaveasafeandenjoyabletimeaswegatherformusicalandsocialpurposes.BecauseTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsis,inpart,asocialorganization,werecognizetherightofmemberstoassociateandformrelationshipsfreely.Toprotectthepersonaldignityofourmembers,sexualharassmentofothermembersatTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsfunctionsisstrictlyprohibited.Definitions:SexualharassmentisdefinedasunwelcomesexualadvancesorrequestsforsexualfavorsthateithercreateahostileenvironmentoraremadeaconditionforparticipationinTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWinds,eitherimplicitlyorexplicitly.Behaviorsthatmayconstitutesexualharassmentinclude,butarenotlimitedto:

TampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsfunctionsinclude,butarenotlimitedtorehearsals,sectionals,performances,fund-raisers,retreats,socialevents,andtransportationtoandfromanyoftheabove.Inaddition,actionsorcommentsmadewhileusinganyTampaBayPrideBandandTampaBaySymphonicWindsresource,suchasthewebsiteormailinglists,fallunderthescopeofthispolicy.Procedure:Ifanindividualfeelsthatheorshehasbeenharassed,thenheorsheshouldspeaktoaBoardmemberassoonaspossible.(AlistofallBoardmembersisincludedonpage4ofthisHandbook).Theindividualshouldprovideawritten,dated,andsignedaccountoftheincidentthatincludesthenamesofanywitnesses.ItisthentheBoard’sresponsibilitytoarrangeaninterviewwiththememberaccusedofharassmentwithin30daysofreceiptofthereport.Disciplinaryactionsinorderofseverityare:
