The vacuum degassing cars were engineered by Taylor-Winfield Technologies with SMS Siemag’s process guidance and manufactured by Brilex Industries. The two cars are currently in the final throes of hot start-up and entering the production phase in Nucor’s recycling center. Nucor Hickman is located in Hickman, AR where they are nation's largest recycler, keeping approximately 20 million tons of scrap steel out of America's landfills each year. These cars are designed to supply Nucor Hickman with a specialized container that is capable of vacuum degassing approximately 165 tons of molten metal at a time. To further improve production, two of these containers have been provided; which share a common vacuum pumping system. While one is in operation and degassing ladles of liquid steel, the other is open for loading a ladle needing degassing or unloading a ladle that just finished the degassing

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio— December 18, 2012, Taylor-Winfield Technologies, Inc. is utilizing their Heavy Material Handling product line to collaborate with SMS Seimag and Brilex Industries in the production of vacuum degassing cars for Nucor Hickman Steel. These cars are designed to supply Nucor Hickman with a specialized container that is capable of vacuum degassing approximately 165 tons of molten metal at a time. process. Overhead melt shop cranes lift ladles in and out of the top of the container. To facilitate access to the containers, they are each mounted on wheels that drive the vessel (and ladle inside) from under the vacuum tight covers and into an area where the skilled crane operators can easily insert or remove heavy ladles full of molten steel. This is a perfect example of the endless possibilities at The Brilex Groupof Companies. With Taylor Winfield Technologies and Brilex Industries working together to design, engineer, and produce the vacuum degassing cars, obstacles are obsolete. It is a great way for The Brilex Group to showcase their diversity across all organizations within their group. This is why the nation’s leading steel recycler has trusted The Brilex Group with this task. It is only natural that The Brilex Group would provide Nucor Steel with these cars, due to the skillset of their different entities and the similarity in ethical corporate governance.
