Principals Report School Uniform Wearing I am noticing the standard of our uniform slipping with a variety of shoes, hair ribbons and tops other than uniform jumpers, being worn to school. I would ask for your support in ensuring your child is wearing their correct uniform at all times. Outstanding School Fees Thank you to all those parents who were reminded last week about outstanding school fees. These fees represent text books and excursion costs borne by the school for which we are still awaiting payment. Please check to determine if you still have outstanding fees. It would be appreciated if these fees could be settled before the end of term. Student Disco I look forward to seeing the students at the disco this Friday night. I want to thank Lou Talbot for all her work in coordinating this school event. Landscaping Works The landscaping works are progressing well with the grounds work now completed. We are waiting for the pavers to arrive at the school and then the brickwork and retaining walls can be finished. Tax Deductible Building Fund As we approach the end of financial year, I wanted to remind parents of the opportunity to donate to the school tax deductible building fund. These funds can be used on anything with either walls or roofs and include structures within the playground and classrooms. If you are able to make a donation please make your cheques payable to Pymble Public School and receipts will be issued within a timely period. Did You Know? The greatest preparation for a school day is a good night’s sleep. Sleep is our powerful regeneration tool and enables our brain to function at its peak when refreshed and rejuvenated. Of the many inhibitors to sleep, one that has become increasingly prevalent is screen time. Screen time includes TV, computers, mini games and anything with a bright back lit screen. This stimulates the eyes and reduces the capacity for sleep. School Uniform Wearing I am noticing the standard of our uniform slipping with a variety of shoes, hair ribbons and tops other than uniform jumpers, being worn to school.

Sports News We wish Jenson, Bill, Emilia, Georgia, Sofia and Hashem all the best as they compete at the Area Cross Country Carnival.

Claire Ovens was successful in gaining selection in the Combined Zone Softball team. Congratulations!

Please remember, that we encourage the correct sport’s uniform to be worn and black leggings are not part of our school uniform.

Library News Over the last few weeks, the library has had some changes. We took delivery of some new donut cushions for the children to use and enjoy. At the same time we have reduced the number of chairs and tables. These changes to furniture have allowed us to re-space the shelving, providing an extra area for children who come into the library to read and work.

As we begin the run towards the holidays, could you help your children to locate any library books that they have had out for more than a couple of weeks? There are quite a number of children who still have books from Term 1 that haven’t been returned. Borrowing for the holidays will be available up until before school on the last day of term as the library isn’t open at lunchtime on Fridays.

In the early part of next term the library will host a book fair, at which children are able to donate books to the library. The donor will be the first to borrow the books once they have been processed. More information will come before the end of this term.

Safety News

Safety around school buses. ● There is a 40km/h speed limit for traffic passing a school bus that is picking up or setting down school children. ● This speed limit is for all traffic travelling in the same direction as the bus, whether the bus is stationary or moving. ● The 40km/h speed limit must be obeyed when the rear ‘wig-wag’ lights on the bus flash. ● Flashing headlights on these buses also alert oncoming motorists that children are close by. ● A fine and the loss of demerit points will apply for failing to observe the 40km/h speed limit for traffic passing a school bus when the ‘wig-wag’ lights are showing. ● If you park illegally in a bus zone, there is a minimum fine of $304 and the loss of 2 demerit points. Kate Walker Safety Committee.
