Milling made easy
Cutting edge inclination forincreased free cutting action27o rake angle!Exceptionally low cutting forces!(In ML-type chipbreaker)
Using simulation analysis, the lightweight cutter body debe highly rigid, producing low cutting forces!
Free cutting action andhigh toughness.
Double-relief geometry forincreased cutting edge strength
■Low cutting forces and reliability for impact resistance●Both the body and the insert feature a large rake angle.●The insert features a double relief angle.
Region of great influence on therigidity of the body
Achieve high rigidity and lowcutting forces
Region of less effect on therigidity of the body
Achieve light weight

F■High productivity●Cutter bodies are available in coarse, close, and fine pitch designs.●For T/EAW13 type (45

corner angle), HJ-type inserts (dedicated for high feed milling) areavailable. The HJ-type allows 1.5 to 2 times faster feeds than conventional inserts.
R
Lighter than competitor’s
cutter by 20 to 30%
Lighter than existing TAC
mills by 5 to 10%
The HJ-type insert features a 30o cutting edge angle, which produces thinner chips than those producedwith a conventional insert with a 45o cutting edgeangle. It can also reduce cutting load along the cuttingedge.Furthermore, HJ-type excels in impact resistance inhigh feed milling and allows high efficiency machining.

■High accuracy
■Accuracy of wall surface produced with 0o corner angle cutters.
●The body with highly improved axial and radial run-out can dramatically improve surface quality.●T/EPW 13 type with a 0
ocorner angle can dramatically reduce bumps formed in the boundary
of cutting depths on the wall surface in multi-step shouldering.
■High functional body design●Features air-holes applicable for through-the-spindle coolant system.
Allows effective chip evacuation and coolant supply to the cutting point when machining aluminum alloy.(For cutters < o4.92 in.)
●Special surface treatment improves resistance to corrosion and wear.

Notes when using TAW and TPW Milling Cutters:1.When machining at large depth of cut or large cutting width, Vc and fz should be set to the lower side.2. As a rule, dry machining (including air blow) is recommended. However, for excessive chip welding, such as when machining stainlesssteels, use a water soluble cutting fluid. In this case, use AH140 and set the cutting speed to Vc < 330 sfm.
3.When machining mild steel, carbon steel, or alloy steel in wet conditions, T3030 is recommended. In this case, Vc and fz should beset lower.
4. TAW13 type can not be used for ramping, plunging and drilling.

When using TAW13 or TPW13 type with center-through air (coolant or mist), the arbor to be usedmust be provided for center-through air supplying.
■ Cautionary Notes● When chips are in the cutting zone during slotting or pocketing process, use internal air supply or air blast to prevent chip recutting.● Use of inserts other than specified can result in incomplete cutting and cause damage to the cutter body. Therefore, specified inserts in our catalogs must
be used.● Before changing or indexing the inserts, remove chips or other foreign matter from the inserts and in the insert pocket of the cutter body by using an air blast
or a wiping cloth.● After a long period of use, replace deformed or damaged clamping screws or wrench.

By using the combination of TAW13 and HJ inserts, the feed was increased up to 2.7 times thatof the existing tool. Furthermore, in spite of increased conditions, the cutting noise level waslower. Allowed about 2.7 times the machining efficiency.

In the existing tooling, the tool life was unstablebecause of chatter built-up resulting from a less rigidworkpiece and low clamping rigidity. TAW13 (MJ),which features low cutting forces, could eliminatechatter and allow smooth machining.

Results The feed rate of the existing tool could not be increased because of excessive vibration duringmachining. The TAW13, because of the low cutting forces and less vibration, could increase feedand allowed about 2.3 times the machining efficiency.

Machining examples
The conventional cutter machined a maximum of 4 pieces. However, the tool life was unstabledue to unpredictable tool breakage.TPW13 consistently machined 4 pieces or more. Furthermore, it showed less chatter andvibration than the conventional cutter and could increase the depth of cut and feed.

Cautionary points when using HJ insertsHJ inserts provide a unique tool geometry to cope with higher feeds than MJinserts. When using HJ inserts, please be aware of the following points:Use the inserts within the maximum allowable depth of cut, ap=0.080".Do not use the inserts together with other types (such as MJ, MS, etc.) in the same body.
The peripheral shape of HJ type inserts differ from those of other types (MJ, MS,etc.) however, it can be commonly used in the same insert pocket.
Cautionary points when using wiper insertsFor good surface finish, use of a wiper insert (WWCW13T3AF_R-W_) is recommended. In general, installing one wiper insert provides superior surface finish.
When using the wiper insert, install the insert as shown in Fig. 1. If the insert is installed as shown in Fig. 2, the breakage of the insert is inevitable and normal surface finish can not be obtained.
The wiper insert has one wiping corner. The peripheral cutting edge of the wiper insert is retracted from the edge of thenormal inserts. Therefore, the feed per tooth (fz IPT) of the normal insert following the wiper insert is two times that of other normal inserts.
When using the wiper insert, a depth of cut (ap) less than 0.040" is recommended.
