MANGROVE FUNCTIONS

Mangrove forest at eastern cost of Surabaya covers 2,182 hectares of Keputih area, 209 hectares of Wonorejo, 848 hectares of Medokan Ayu, and 470 hectares of Gunung Anyar Tambak

2,314 hectares of mangrove forest at eastern coast of Surabaya was changed in land use. Now, the green public area is occupied by 36 developers.

Institutional Community Services are conducted into two main areas involving faculty members and students

A. Involving faculty members 1. Referring to the main tasks of university in teaching and learning, research, as well as social services, lecturers potentially are involved in Mangrove Community Services Involving students. 2. Anyhow, lecturers can also involve students as the supporting acting party. 3. Institutionally, Perbanas Entrepreneur Center can act as the catalisator for the entrepreneurship of Mangrove community.

PROGRAM

Community Service:a. Making a cooperation with the social leader

at mangrove area to get access and cooperation to improve their entities.

b. Community Services Center and Perbanas Entrepreneurship Center help improve the product quality of the Mangrove community such as Mangrove Juice and Fish or crab crackers, their packaging and introducing to market.

Activities:

Teaching and Learning:a. In the subject of Entreprenurship, lecturers lead

students to make a business plan run for small business with about Rp 6-10 million for start up.

Students can optimally explore the entities of Mangrove to take into account.

b. Lecturer in class of Marketing or other related subjects can help improve the product quality of the Mangrove community such as Mangrove Juice and Fish or crab crackers, their packaging and introducing to market.

Activities:

B. Involving Students 1. Students’ roles and innovation are encourage so they they

can create products and programs dedicated for Mangrove community, while proposing their program to the government for a specific scheme of national creativity college students innovation (Program Kreatifitas Mahasiswa /PKM).

2. That kinds of ideas can also be implemented to support students unions (Unit organisasi kemahasiswaan)

1. Creating a Learning Tool ‘Smart Magic Card’ to learn English, Math, Accounting

2. Training English for Mangrove Children (6-15 years old) and their parents using Smart Magic Card.

3. Training for Mangrove Housewives on the Safety Ways in using gas stove

Training for Safety Ways in using Gas StoveImproving Mangrove juice packaging and product quality

ENGLISH LEARNING USING SMART MAGIC CARD

RESULTS :

1. Increasing families income2. Facilitating to get a new job

as foreign visitors guide3. Improving academic

achievement of students.
