Tata Crucible CampusQuiz
2012witnessedoneofthemostexcitingandenthrallingbattleofwitsonSunday,April8,2012
at the Vivanta by Taj President, Mumbai. After a grueling and
close contest, the team from
InstituteofPublicEnterprise (IPE) comprising Naveen Kumarand
Zuhair Ali from Hyderabad,
emergedInternationalwinnersedgingoutSymbiosisLawSchoolduoRaghavChakravarthyand
SachinRavifromPunewhoearlierwontheNationalFinals.
The8finalistteamsfortheNationalfinalsincludedSymbiosisLawSchool(SLS),Pune,Institute
ofPublicEnterprise
(IPE),Hyderabad,St.Xaviers,Kolkata,GoaMedicalCollege,Goa,
Indian
Instituteof
Management
(IIM),
Indore,
Xavier
Institute
of
Management
(XIM),
Bhubaneshwar,
VisvesvarayaNational Institute of Technology (VNIT),Nagpur and
Institute of Technology
Banaras Hindu University (ITBHU), Patna. These finalists were
selected from two exciting
rounds of semifinals amongst 12 teams each from the regional
winners. An overwhelming
number of 6000 students (over 3200 teams) participated in the
regional rounds in 24 cities
acrossthecountry.
The National final was decided by a nervewrecking tie breaker
with Symbiosis Law School
clinchingthewinningtitleafterfacingstiffcompetitionfromInstituteofPublicEnterprise(IPE)
whoemergedastherunnersup.
The International finals witnessed faceoff between top two teams
from each country:
Singapore SingaporeManagementUniversity(SMU) 2teams;UK
UniversityofStrathclyde,
GlasgowandESCPEuropeand India
SymbiosisLawSchoolandInstituteofPublicEnterprise
(IPE).
The evening was graced byMr.KishorA.ChaukarMD,Tata Industries
who felicitated the
National winners with trophies and a cheque worth Rs.4,00,000/,
while the international
winnerswereawardedtrophies,laptopsandaninternationalholidaypackageeach.

andinnovativequestionsfromacrossthespectrum.
ThequizwashostedbyacequizmasterMr.
GiriBalasubramaniama.k.a.Pickbrainwhothroughhisdistinctivestylegotthebestoutofthe
contestantsandkepttheaudiencecaptivatedwiththehighvoltageactiononstage.
On winning the National Finals at Mumbai, Mr. Sachin Ravi from
Symbiosis Law School, Pune
said,Imoverwhelmed...We'vebeenrunnersupattheCrucibletwiceoverandtodaysvictory
is trulyhumbling. Itwasanawesomequizzingexperienceand themoment
isyet tosink in.
Secondinghim,teammateRaghavChakravarthyadded,AsclichdasitmaysoundtheCrucible
experiencehasbeenacontinuousquestforknowledge.Itwasn'tjustaboutthequiz;alotwasin
thejourney.TheCruciblewasourincentivetolearn,imbibeandgrow."
Winnersof the InternationalFinals, IPE Hyderabad, expressed
theirexcitementsaying,Ithas
been a really good experience and we feel so proud to have
represented India and won the
Internationalfinalstitle.
