Welcome to the Health, Social and Child Care Department

Today we will be looking at Options available to you in the John Cleveland 6th Form Centre.

• All courses are Edexcel BTEC National Qualifications

• All courses are vocational courses – there are links to particular jobs and have an element of practical work placement.

• There is one option for Health and Social Care

• There are 3 different options for Children’s Play, Learning and Development

• The benefit of studying in 6th form are that you can combine the above with other subjects.

How do I know what to choose?If you successfully complete this course you could;

Health and Social Care

• Go to university to study –nursing, paramedic, midwifery, social care, social worker

• Get a job working with; vulnerable adults, the elderly, young people in care

Children’s Play, Learning and Development

• Go to university to study Early Years Education, Teaching, Speech Therapy,

• Double/Triple can get a job in a day nursery or school working with children under 5, Teaching Assistant in a school, Nursery Nurse on a children’s ward or maternity, Health Visitors Assistant.

How do I know what to choose?

Health and Social Care

• Single option = 1 A Level

Children’s Play, Learning and Development

• Single option = 1 A Level

• Double option = 2 A Levels and gives you a licence to practice (you can get a job working with children directly from the course)

• Triple option = 3 A Levels and gives you a licence to practice
